  • Get Off My Turf! is a short film about a transgender woman who finds out that her neighbour is transphobic. The film delves into some of the modern depictions of transphobia and explores friendship, solidarity and conflict between two very different women.
Created by an entirely trans cast and crew!!
My Genderation is an ongoing film project focusing on trans lives and trans experiences. All our content is created by trans people, about trans people, for a much wider audience. Currently run by Fox Fisher and Owl Fisher.

I'm trans and I'll admit it's still one I struggle with but that's as an asexual who is never having kids because 1) I want to see the world, not be tied down by "adulting", a kid would basically make my lifestyle impossible and tie me down to "gotta raise them somewhere" 2) I personally wouldn't bring a kid into this world with climate change. Won't judge anyone for doing so but I just personally won't.

    OH LORD
    I'm so happy
I had wanted to watch this short film as soon as I saw the trailer, and I must say I am so happy it to have watched it, it's amazing! (Just a bummer I didn't receive the notification and had to find out about it 4 days later, ugh)
It's honestly amazingly well made, I love the little references here and there and how much you've conveyed in such a short amount of time. I don't know if it was intentional, but Penny having to overcome the fence in between their yards to come to Chloe's side (and her struggling to do so but pushing through to go help a neighbour- no, a friend) was really emotional for me. I just wish my mum had this moment for my brother.
Anyway, the only thing I'm a bit bummed about is that we never got to hear Penny actually apologise. A line along the way of "I'm sorry Chloe, I now understand how my words may have hurt you. I was in the wrong, and I'm sorry."
Other than that, it was amazing! A real rollercoaster of emotions (from anger, to sadness, fear, and finally reconciliation), truly a great short film!

I think it’s amazing that they produced this with a fully transgender crew, I really appreciate that.

As a transwoman I can tell you that I've had worse things said to my face. I don't even argue, I just walk away. Some people are just not worth the effort.

    This was really heartwarming
    And very very cathertic
I well admit I used to spread the same transphobic vitriol as her, it's not a permanent mindset, it can be changed

The ending where Penny started to stutter made me feel a bit awkward but with the happy ending it overwhelmed the awkwardness.

Absolutely adore this, the scenery, the cast, story, the point. It really shows the side of people that other short films would have taken too far, tho everyone has different reactions. You all did an amazing job on this and are a big inspiration to me and others. :>

One thing to note; men experience domestic violence too, and at underreported rates

The definition of women is not those who suffer domestic violence. Ridiculous. Anyone could suffer. Doesn't make them a woman.

I like that you had Penny learn and grow over time instead of automatically accepting it. It shows that shes actually taking time to learn about our community and our experiences and that acceptance is a learned behavior.

This is actually one of my favorite endings. Because it shows that you don’t need to be over the top to show support. Nor do you need to understand the topic entirely. Allowing it to just be, to just exist. It’s as she said “I just don’t know” and it’s okay to not know, it’s okay to not understand how you feel yet, because not knowing means that you’re thinking, you’re reflecting, and that’s better than blindly hating. That was a great short film, amazing job to everyone involved. 👏

This was such a nice video! So many trans short films are focused on youth/coming out which is fine but it's cool to see some variety. This was really interesting and entertaining and I'm so glad I clicked!
