John Adams is wonderful. Many years ago, while playing with the Youth Orchestra in Cleveland, he came out to conduct The Chairman Dances with us. He was warm and very friendly.
Absolutely. It would be wonderful, of course, it's a magical piece. But the accuracy and precision needed for it to come together would be maddening. I've played some Adams on the piano, it's like laying a 10 minute tongue twister for your fingers and that's probably easier than this.
This kind of piece had a massive impact on modern movie music, kind of like Stravinsky and Mahler had many years before. Stuff sounds like this because it's copying the approach (less well, usually).

Y E S. I'm a violinist and honestly I can't practice this piece for more than 30 minutes, then I need a rest. It's diabolic
if it doesnt drive you crazy then why play it?
On the other hand, it's easy on harmonica - just keep inhaling and exhaling faster and faster - voila!
