- Chainsawed the window openings which was a different approach from the main cabin shell. Started putting rafters up which was not too bad with 2 good shoulders!

Excellent work this far 👏 👌
Cheers
Thanks for watching 👍
Man, so the wife and I did a bunch of research on this building style and have convinced ourselves (since we live in a temperate climate) that this would be perfect for an off grid small cabin for our guests. We're building two, hopefully by this time next year they'll be completed. Great way to make some extra $$ too over time. Thank you for sharing! Awesome cabin bro. I'm a bit jealous :)
Thanks. This method has worked out better than I expected. I think you'll like it.
Great looking build, but then I would have expected nothing less than from you. You do fantastic work and work very hard. A lot of sweat has gone into building this cabin and it is a masterpiece!
Thank you! Much appreciated 👍
I love the process and progress of your cabin.
I’m just catching up on it now but man is it looking great!
Thanks. It's come a long way but still has a ways to go 👍

I've been binge watching your channel from the beginning this past week. Ever since you switched from the hat to the headband...you remind me of Robert De Niro. The Cabin looks amazing. You are the Godfather of cabin building! Beautiful Work!!!
Haha....thanks. We are both Italian so I guess we have that in common.
I’d love to see how you angled the truss above the sidewalls of the bedroom addition

Looking awesome! Thanks for letting us watch your build!
Thank you 👍
Beautiful green surroundings and the first phase of your cabin is done.
All the green keeps it shaded and a lot cooler in the summer months. 👍
My friend, you need an oscillating multi-tool. One of the best things I ever bought.
I'll have to look into that! I have a Leatherman that I use quite a bit.
Looking great!! The weather lookis good too...
It's been great this past week!

Thanks for the comment 👍
Beautiful 🇬🇧😊
Thank you 👍
Good to see you back.
Looking great man. Inspiring for one of my own in a year or so.
Glad to see that. I was inspired by My Self Reliance to build mine 👍
Gonna be a great cabin.
Thank you 👍
Really looking like you need a scaffold. Have a great day 😊.
I’m fully invested I binged the whole series 😂. Any plans for permanent power for small thing, maybe solar or are you going to keep it old fashion.
Glad you liked it 👍 Just planning to keep it running on portable generators for now. Take care!
Great video! You need a new chain or a file on your chainsaw ;)
Definitely will be sharpened before I cut out bathroom door. Thanks for watching 👍
Love this channel 😊
Thanks for watching 👍
Very nice!
Thanks 👍
Nice cabin 😊
Thanks 👍
we had one of those weed wacker at the cottage it works great
It is handy 👍
I have one of those little orange Judo ladders. They are nice when you only need too reach a little higher. But some times they just flip out n throw you on your arss. Lolol 😊😊😊 Sometimes they flip in n throw you on your face. It's a gamble.
Haha...they can be tricky. Glad I have cat-like reflexes.
Lovely
♥
dang, it got green out there :)
It did!
Really enjoying your cabin build. But this one video a month is not cutting it. Need more. :)
Haha...should be more frequent moving forward 👍

Hell yeah brother that thing looks fabulous I love that little cabin I wish I had a total spec sheet so I can build me one like that that is gorgeous man I wished I can come out there and build one right beside you but I can't so anyhow keep up to go to work bro it looks good
Thanks again 👍
@@TheOffGridExperience welcome bud
some of those cuts done with the circular saw might be safer if done with a Sawzall ??
They would probably be safer but take a bit longer to do.
In every video I have the same thought. Who left this man alone with power tools and how does he still have all his fingers?
Every time the saws come out I wonder if this is gonna be it.
Love the cabin though.
Haha...thanks. Accidents happen when :
1. You rush/are in a hurry or...
2. Are tired
I am careful not to be either when working.
Simple physics. You can't cut your fingers if they aren't near blade.
Take care!
@@TheOffGridExperience it's mostly with the circular saw. Like when you're cutting the notches and the blade is facing back toward you and it's bouncing and kicking back. I wince every time I see it.
The cabin itself is coming along great though. It looks snug but comfortable. The shosugiban treatment of the wood really brings it together and gives it some real character, makes it feel warm and inviting. Have you thought about assembling your logs and then hitting them with the torch while it's still easily accessible instead of after installing them? I noticed it looked like you were starting to struggle to reach the higher pieces.
Just a ballpark figure on how many 2x8’s you use non the main cabin? Awesome work and I’m thinking of using your method.
Probably 400-500 on main cabin and 200 on additions. Thanks for watching 👍
Very cool! Do you think the logs could be built indoors, then transported and assembled on site? I am thinking about doing a build like yours, but working in the shop to complete the walls, then transport to the field. Wondering if you thought there would be warping or other unanticipated challenges? Keep up the good work!
I’m sure it could be done. You’d probably have to build the cabin offsite, # the “logs”, unassemble and then reassemble onsite. I’ve not had any issues with warping at all going on almost 2 years now.
I really like your cabin but you do make me a little nervous with that circular saw....
Haha...Thanks. I'll be ok 👍
You need to buy a couple of goats to eat the weeds in the yard.... lol
Haha....I just got rid of a small herd. I'll stick with grass whip for now!!
do you have to purchase this land, or can you just build? love the quiet and straight to work videos! I will do this one day.
LOVE YOUR VIDEOs!!! Question wondering why did you cut out the windows in the bedroom this time, ? We are going to build the same building and were learning from you, just wondering if it was easier just chainsawing the windows out after?
I think I like the chainsaw method better. It saves time in not having to do a ton of cuts on the individual logs to get the window openings right.
Thanks for watching 👍
Dang ya need to sharpen that chain or replace it
Yep. New chain works wonders.
❤️😇⭐♥️🌠✨❣️💗💖
👍
Interesting build technique. Out of curiosity, why do you use Liquid Nails on some of the joints and not on others?
Thanks. It should be between every joint. I just may not have filmed it or maybe forgot...lol.
Sharpen that chainsaw.
Planning on it!
New subscriber, love your content. I have one question...
What is one part of this build... that you would do different? If any...
Thanks for the sub. Definitely the rafters. Would be a lot easier now that I know what I'm doing.
@@TheOffGridExperience good deal. Thank you for your answer.
BOREC JE TO SUPER
What is the person's name to get the log cabin instructions? My dad and I love how the log cabin is turning out.
Thanks! His name is Stoney and you can find his email on this forum:

bonjour 🤝 🤝 ;c'est la reprise des travaux 🚧 🚧 je me posais la question qu'est ce qu'il devient c'est super 👌 👌 a bientôt

Do you think this concept would work if the middle board in the sandwich logs was replaced with rigid foam insulation ?? even if the ends of the sandwich (and maybe a small section in the middle) still utilized two by"s
Good question! The middle board provides much of the strength of the tongue and groove. I'd be scared it would snap by having rigid foam there for most of the length.
Are you using treated lumber?
All untreated.
Are you sure the chain isn’t backwards on the chainsaw?
I was about to say it might need to be sharpened!
Yes, chain should have been sharpened prior to cutting windows. Will definitely do that before I cut out bathroom door. 👍
You might need to sharpen the chain
Absolutely. Will sharpen it before I cut out bathroom door.
Puede ablar en español porfavor gracias
Would luv to have a partner willing to help me in same way here. My son has land acres I can do this on I just need to get there and get looking for tiny home to start...I don't know how long off grid. I can go w/ o elec ,H2O I'm not the young mean stuff I used to be ,I just need growth and serinity w/ someone now....❤😢
Luckily, we have 2x playback.
Also, Most videos work better as 60 second shorts
I would bet ,you sleep very well at night, working like you do in the day.
This is my weekend job...haha...
would PT lumber be better or last longer ,,, or could that be a problem ? not to mention prob double the price
You could use PT on the outside board, but it would be more expensive and you couldn't burn it. I try to stay away from PT as much as possible.
