I've wanted to go back to Alaska since I took my first cruise when I was 11. I wasn't sure how it would live up to the hype I'd built up in my mind... but I'll share it all with you in this live stream!

Dear Emma
My wife and I are just about to go on our first cruise ( Fjords on Queen Mary 2) and we just wish to thank you for your excellent videos over the years. You are both informative and entertaining and, may I say, a lovely person as well.
Thank you.
We can't wait to see your other Alaska videos! You're convincing us to go on a cruise there. But first, Norway!
I am a Seattle native, now I live in Port Townsend, NW of the city. Cruise ships cruise right on by our town. I've taken 3 HAL cruises to Alaska. Mimi is right, you can be pretty casual even in the main restaurant, just no denim. The food is amazing, and that from someone who has eaten salmon, clams, oysters, and Dungeness crab often, sometimes having caught it myself. The cruises were delightful and I will go back often. The desserts were all wonderful. When the bread pudding with warm custard made its regular way onto the buffet, there was always a stampede. Come back and make some time to wander around Seattle!
Emma-Next time you need to stay overnight in Seattle, let me know. I own a condo there and can get you a free overnight or two in our building's guest suite. You can come and go as you please. 2 blocks from the Norwegian terminal. Those maps are the coolest thing in the world! Thank you for sharing!
Holland America and Princess have done Alaska the longest. They tend to have longer port times and the best berthing locations.
Emma, I’ve just discovered your utube channel..we love cruising and your channel. We are heading to British Isles and Northern Europe in September, first European trip (50+ cruises under our belts)
Just missed watching live, but I'm glad you enjoyed it, especially the excursions. Alaska is beautiful, and for anyone thinking about taking a cruise there, I highly recommend saving up for a few excursions.
??? So glad you are home. :). You should definitely remind us to hit the thumbs up (if it helps) because I binge watch sometimes and forget to hit the thumbs up. Hello to Hudson. ❤
The Hudson portrait with the captain hat is hilarious!! 😂
Too bad you missed one of the best ports...Sitka! my great grandfather had a pack train using a horse over the white pass before the railroad....it's a beautiful but tough climb :)
HI about the packing for Alaska. I've been to Alaska twice, we had great weather once and not so great weather. Think layers and a backpack. Begin with many layers and you can remove them as necessary
Brilliant!
I just got back from my first cruise and first time in Europe! (NCL Pearl) Your videos have been super helpful - Captain Hudson version 1 really enjoyed his time in Spain and Portugal - I left from Southampton and went early so I could explore London ❤ The Red Lion Pub and the Tower of London were probably my favourites 😆
I am off to Alaska in 2 weeks
Sorry I missed your stream. I was on the Regent Seven Seas Explorer the same time your were on the Encore. We were ported together at least once, although I can't remember where. We had an amazing cruise with a helicopter ride up the Mendenhall Glacier and a day with Mushers, their sled teams and even a bunch of musher puppies. We had amazing weather. Amazing! I just wanted you to know that we might not have ever gotten on a cruise had it not been for your channel. I took Hudson along and put him at our table at every meal, even the fancy Restaurants meals. The crew loved him, as did many of our fellow passengers. He's going with us on our next cruise, too . . .
This “captain Hudson thing” is getting out of hand! I’m trying real hard to bypass any references…
I liked the show but needed to "Subscribe" and then write the comment.I've done 2 Alaska Cruise: First on NCL - did the train ride!; second on Seabourne. I much preferred the second as we sailed into many more bays with glaciers and used Zodiacs to go really close. We saw both a brown and a black bear within 30 yards of us - at separate times. We're going to Antarctica in November on Atlas World Navigator for "Thanksgiving with the Penguins."
Looking forward to more videos from your Alaskan cruise.🤗
We are leaving 14 May for a 16 May Seward to Vancouver with Silversea. Our first AK trip. We are getting giddy.
You will have to report what Silversea is like on AK trip. We want to do Silversea and this would be great.
Ordered a cruise map!! Thanks for the EC code!!
Hello Fraser At Sea- nice to see you popping in here. Emma, you got back from AK just before we did, HAL Eurodam. I’m glad you loved the White Pass Railroad; I did too, especially the high alpine plateau!
Having an audience with the Prince of Whales!
We have done two Alaska cruises both NCL one on the Bliss the other on the Encore really enjoyed both.
love you Emma
love you too! :)
I was watching about classic stars of early movies, and it hit me; You look like Heddy Lamar!
I’m leaving on Norwegian Bliss next Saturday from Seattle to Alaska! It’s my second trip at the same time of year and believe me I didn’t need any extra special clothes! I live in Oregon, our weather is rainy and cold, just like yours in England. It was like my weather at home ❤
On Princess Majestic now heading to Victoria B.C. And can’t say enjoy ought about food being very good, staff is friendly and so helpful. Excursions kept us busy everyday-
We didn’t do any formal dressing just totally informal and comfy. It’s been cold so we didn’t use our balcony much but that’s ok.
I’ve done Alaska about 5X… started w Holland in 1996, then Celebrity, Princess in 2021, last on the 12 nights Cunard Queen Elizabeth June 2023…. I think I have covered ALL!
It's a shame you didn't get enough time to go to to Butchart Gardens in Victoria.
I disembarked from Arvia yesterday with similar ports.. we also had to make a detour to Vigo on the way back for an unwell passenger.
I laughed when you said you got excited over the American school bus. 🤣
Me too!
Will you be going on Star Trek: The Cruise? Dressing as Seven of Nine would be fun. Trek Trendy and the lovely Millie as Spock and T'Pring. Ben and David as Federation Officials. Tony from La Lido Loca as the guy with Tribbles.
Emma, you don't HAVE to take formal clothes for HAL cruises. You can dine in MDR in your dress or blouse and pants. HAL and Princess have priority docking in Alaska and both have longer times in port. It would be great if you expanded your Alaska experiences on the other lines, perhaps 2 or 3 back to back, if it worked out for your schedule. Would be nice to do itineraries that go to lesser known ports (Kodiak, Valdez, Icy Strait Point, Seward, Wrangell). You are young and have plenty of time for this. (smile) Tell us what your thoughts are or bucket list items are for future Alaska cruises. Thanks! ***Orange Night on HAL is a nod to the Dutch heritage of Holland America. People wear something orange, enjoy music and dancing, games, etc.
HAL cruises are great! Only cruise I've been on and my grandpa and dad worked the bus transport for them in Alaska for a few years.
Sounds like a dream to me! Please let HAL know you'd like to see me on one of their cruises in Alaska and maybe we could make it happen!! :) Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
We have been to Alaska twice with Holland America. We like them so much we are taking a 17 day Hawaii cruise in October. Woohoo!
Forgot to mention. We are both 67 y.o.
@@youtubewatcher1135 Norwegian paid her to cruise and do advertising for them.
Young doesn’t = time. Even if it did, creating these videos takes weeks. Give it a go. You’d be shocked. Dress or blouse and pants? Not formal? Hilarious
Just returned from the Cunard Queen Anne maiden.
How was it?
@@tonyparisi3975 I think she will get mixed reviews. The ship is different in its design being a 'resort' ship and whilst they have kept the traditional locations such as the Queen's room and Grand Lobby, it isn't, they are not as Cunarders will remember from others in the fleet. Nothing wrong with the quality of the food, it just lacks ambition and Cunard have embraced portion control in a big way. We had a deluxe ocean view on deck 1 which was very nice with a separate walk in shower and large sofa bed. A 500ml bottle of London Pride is £6.45 including gratuity.
I would love to get the maps for a digital frame! Save the wall space but still show off as they flip by!!
Hotcakes is a term used in the US, but rarely except in the phrase ‘selling like hotcakes’. Flapjacks is another word for pancakes - the normal word.
Hellooo... I will be in Edge X mid August... not so sure how warm jackets we should wear... and regular sneakers?
We have a picture viewer that the kids send photos to it on line it would be cool if you could just order a digital pic and just scroll through all of them
I think it would be great if The Cruise Maps offered an app that would allow you to select your maps as a screensaver on a desktop, laptop etc. And you could customize purchase/downloads to your hearts content (lol). I have no wall space available but something like static cling window or mirror non adhesive stickers could be fun.? Just a thought. 🤓
Oo I like it! Thank you! 😁❤️
Question what is your favorite cruise line for you as Emma?
I'm way behind. Just ordered my map for our Christmas 2024 cruise to Mexico
Ooo amazing!!
Since you took the first cruise of Encore out of the shipyard how was the tour of the yard in Germany?
I will say that an early season Alaska cruise is totally different from a late season Alaska cruise.
We use “hotcakes” in Canada.
QUESTION.. I am late to the show…ugh! Just wondering if you had and advice about packing for a trip to Alaska for a week. Is is possible to keep it to a personal bag and carry on only?
Hmm. As someone who went on one Alaska cruise, I'd say it depends on how packable your clothes are (ie travel/antiwrinkle clothes vs linen or a suit jacket), how good you are at packing and if you're open to doing laundry (in your sink or service). I'm sure there's great advice on her website and other cruise guides!
How many Pot-Of-Calls did you have and where. How long where you onshore? Our church group is leaving in June for 7-days.❤❤❤❤.
Question: were you able to see the Northern Lights?
Wrong time of year
@@joannah.185They were visible over much of the UK last night. Yes it's not an ideal time of year, but still possible.
Where do I find the podcast with Matt?
I can draw the next versions of Hudson just a few ideas I also have school to so they might come in late if the first comment did not come in or the might of been in your last Hudson

Hi Emma, when you got to Victoria did you walk into town or use the shuttle bus
Walk :)
What happened to the world map that used to be behind you? Did you move?
Just got off a HAL cruise to Alaska. The ports were super touristy and that put me off. Way too many tourist tat shops.
@@youtubewatcher1135 Yes, I know for next time!
You just missed all the good weather that came to Seattle.
Question did the mercy ship get the captain Hudson I donated one
We've got them in a big pile at the moment just waiting to collect a few more and they'll be sent together, not long now. Thank you! 😁❤️
Question what level was your cabin on?
14 :)
Did the go-karts produce any annoyance due to their noise? Or was that hardly perceptable (and not that frequent)? Or were they electric?
They're electric, never heard them :)
I’d like to thank you for teaching me a new language. When you said “pack a pack mac and a jumper “ I was able to translate it quite easily to American English. Cheers.
Haha, I love this!! :)
Strictly speaking the item in question is a "Pac-a-Mac"...!
@@polymath9372 I stand corrected 😁
Wish I had your job. Although I know it's not easy to make these videos.
You don’t need to acclimatise but here in Oz you could wait at a provincial airport in your undies but you will freeze to death on the plane.
Isn't there a US law that says ships can not go from one US port to another. So what Canadian port
did you stop at? - Edward CSR at Canada Place
The Encore does a quick 3 hour stop in Vancouver on the way back to Seattle.
We stopped in Victoria, was lovely! :)
Aloha, Emma. I enjoy your videos, and write to ask if you will explain the world map on the wall behind you. Most of the 'divisions' aren't the 'usual' political divisions, so I'm curious as to what the map actually depicts. Thanks, and CRUISE ON!
Heeeeellllo, thank you, you can check out their site here: EmmaCruises.com/youtubemap 😄😍
@@EmmaCruises Thanks so much for the quick response...CRUISE ON, young lady!!
Your accent seems different today? Have you picked up a twang on your travels??
Food?
what is that big red thing????
microphone
The microphone she is talking into.
R2D2's last child.
🤣🤣🤣🤣@@brianmccarthy1322
That microphone appears to be used by various CZcamsrs, painted in different colours - one even has the version that cycles through various generated-light colours (for no obvious reason...).
1 "POSH" = "Port Outbound Starboard Home"... Where you want to be. What itinerary is it? Why?
2 In Seattle, was The Mountain "out"? Common question residents ask each other. What does it mean?
For (2) look at the website found by searching for "Is Mt Rainier Out"...!
The Mountain is Mt.Rainier and it's "out" when there's no clouds and you can see it from regular altitudes!
Emma doesn't like participating in interactive shows on cruises, but hosts an interactive show on CZcams.
I wouldn’t go on stage or be asked questions in front of tons of people either.
Isn't that the ship the African crew member went on a stabbing crusade with scissors after unsuccessfully trying to launch a lifeboat?
I haven't watched your vlog yet. I will tonight.
Same ship but that cruise is still out at sea. She was probably on the cruise before since she is home now.
Have we come to the stage where the overuse of the word *"cool"* is no longer cool?!
Nope, it's always cool :)
Cool was cool when I was a kid and I’m 73 now! It never goes out of style! 😂
@@EmmaCruises Oh! _[wanders off, sobbing quietly...!]_
What company makes your tee with the outline of a ship on it. I want one!
@@jackwhite2736 Listen to the video again - Emma said it was a fellow "cruising CZcamsr" that she got it from!
Hi from Finland. You have good videos indeed! When we can expect video from Icon of the seas
