I appreciate how engaged and engaging Slawomir is with his students.
He doesn’t just tell them; he shows them. And he doesn’t just show them; he empowers them to feel in their bodies exactly where they need to be and why.
This is an intuitive learning that can only happen when someone feels how they have to move their body to align all of the hundreds of parts that have to be in perfect harmony to balance like this.
Like, Slawomir showed him how to be her support. Slawomir also helped him to feel exactly what the difference was for his partner by putting him in his partner’s shoes. You could see the dawning realization on his face of exactly where his body felt off balance and why, and then what it should feel like. I bet if you watched him do it now he understands exactly where he needs to help her and is improving every time he practices.
Short videos of people don't really tell you all that much about someone. We tend to fill in a lot of details based on assumptions. One thing I've learned is that you can't know someone just from watching them on video or TV. If they don't know you, you don't know them.

I love his take on Odile. A lot of young dancers focus so much on the technique that they lose the acting, but he has ATTITUDE in his body language. You can tell those shoulders are up to no good.
Yes, artistry and technique go hand in hand. Some develop the artistry once they have the routine w/good technique. I’ve noticed some dancers need to work on turnout - you can always see it through the presentation of the foot, which of course starts at the hip.
@gracepoint3 true is some training methods but this is vaganova. In vaganova artistry develops along side technique not after.
@@SerafinaP yes agreed, but all I’m saying is some don’t learn it that way.
Slowomir is my favorite teacher!!! He's so funny, light hearted, and good at teaching!!! No wonder why the students enjoy ballet dancing so much!!!

"effortless" is about the last word I'd use in that context. At least make it "effortlessly looking". In reality that's the results of years over years of hard work with good quality support + selection bias towards ppl with bodies that go well with that spot/art

Hes a great teacher. He doeant put down his students when they make a mistake. He shows them how to do it better! Hes great!!
He was wonderful in his day and I dare say he’s still got it ❤

Ophelia is so much younger but can do that leg thing way better than Ella. Wow. A maya in the making.
I wouldn’t say better. Higher leg, yes. However, Ella had better technique though with the tighter knee and more prominent turn out
Ophelia hasn't reached puberty yet, it will be a whole different ball game soon. Plus, it isn't always the highest leg. Ella's technique was superior overall.
I'm not a ballet dancer, but I could do a side split before I hit puberty, but not after that because of how my hips grew
@@jasminejohnson4850Ella is older so more time under her belt, I am sure Ophelia will be just as good in a few years.
