- Sometimes a live version can be so much better than a studio recording. This is my favorite rendition of Raul performing this great Hollies classic, backed by a lovely grandiose orchestral backing. It's superior to the album version and the BBC show. Played on stage in one of the Mavericks' final live shows, in 2004. Thanks to George for pics used.
Raul has the voice of an angel. Absolutely nothing he can not sing. Huge fan.
I guess that any thumbs down just mean that it’s just not their kind of music as we all have choices in life... BUT I personally think that Raul has one of the best voices around and has for many years, let’s hope longevity is bestowed upon this awesome band 👌

He is perfection. No taking it away from other singers that have done the songs he covers, BUT could listen to him all day. He is a beautiful singer.

MsCatslady The singers and the songs he covers are beyond fantastic. They all have their songs and their unique style however, Raul can sing most of those songs as well as the originals and usually better. Absolutely adore him.

I fell in love with Raul's voice many many years ago when I first heard him. I am just now finding out how extremely talented this man is! What a voice! I've heard it said many times that a certain person could sing the phone book and it would be great, but in this case, it is absolutely true! I just can't get enough of listening to him sing.

Oh yeah don't bother. No way you measure up. You didn't even try. The Mavericks are better than great. It's about the respect they show for legends.

Albert Hammond wrote The Air That I Breathe. He recorded it and so did Phil Everly as well as many others. But the biggest hit with it was from the Hollies. Simply Red also did pretty well.

I have always engineered dead studios. No fucking echo. Dead, other that he sound coming from the performerl. My take on it. I have always engineered that way.
I fucking hate echo. It's so fakey. Fucking hate it. The best cuts in the world are when you can here the performer breathing their life into the mike. I have some great mikes for that....mostly Senns. Ribbons are life.
