  • The forest floor are booming with wild blueberries, and they make some delicious marmelad. Some dead trees at the back of my property, are cut down, and they are excellent for filling up the woodshed with firewood for the coming winter.

Howdy Michael- oh my, harvesting what we call huckleberries, wild blueberries. If my wife was there you wouldn’t have had any to make marmalade out of. She would have eaten them all haha. You made a nice drop on the trees. We have a flat head wood borer that attacks trees that are cut this time of year. You can actually hear them munching away in the logs. Hope all is well and you have a wonderful weekend. God bless

@@TheBeardedCarpenter Hahaha, then I'm happy the huckleberry machine are living in Arkansas. Yeah, they came down just like I hoped. One never knows how they are going to fall, when they are dead, leaning and in between other trees. Some fall without any problems, but some are splitting up in 25 pieces, and scatter all over because of tension release in the bigger branches, or if they hit other trees on their way down. I've heard those three years ago. I had cut a lot of trees, and while if was chopping away, I noticed like a scratching noise. At first I thought it was a mouse chewing away on something, somewhere in the wood stack. I tapped a log with my axe and the sound stopped. I put my ear to the log and waited till it started again. I could clearly hear it, eating it's way inside. A small tap and silence again. I was a bit surprised of how loud it sounded. You could here several yards away.

Good day . I like your berry harbison box that is pretty cool. And great job on the tree clearing. And I make marmalade orange blueberry and a whole different jams. You have a great weekend

@@timothyalanogrady yeah, it pretty smart, I'm sure you can get them online. It has made it so much easier, and faster to both pick the berries, and get rid of the leaves afterwards. Try searching for berrie picker, or berrie rake, they doesn't cost much, but by the ones made from metal instead of plastic. Homemade marmalade are just so tasty.

Send some of that rain to Western Illinois! July 1st got 1.75 inches which saved the garden. June we got .3 inches for the whole month. I need a new chainsaw too. My old Poulan 3300 is only 39 yrs old now. :P

@@JosEPh-zy3yr ooh that rain. I wish I could fulfill your wish, I'm so tired of rain, and hope for a longer dry spell, so I can get started on the outside chinking. I don't have the nerves to begin, if hard rain starts washing away the mortar a few hours after I've put it in. I bought a new, small Stihl last year. There was a sale, and I got 50% of. I did have 3 others, but old, and heavy. The two I use in the video, are my old, heavy duty, and rhe small new one. I'm so impressed by that little saw, and I use it all the time - especially when I'm debranching spruce. I can only recommend it. It's the only one I used for all those spruce trees, I cut down behind the cabin. The best thing is the low weight, less use of fuel and chain oil, and cheaper chains.

lots of good effort on the firewood collecting ! are you nearing half way on what you will need for this coming winter season ?

@@paulcarlson-es1gw it made the stack grow, and yes I'm around half way there. It's the first time in my life I'm on behind with my firewood. It's actually a bit stressful, and it's never gonna happen again.
