It definitely has! I wanted to buy one, but thought I should probably watch a review first. When he was talking about the subscription, I was all, “Wait … so I pay $170 for this thing and then have to pay for a frickin’ SUBSCRIPTION after that?!?!?” That made me decide not to buy it and I was going to close CZcams and go about my day, but I thought no, I’ll keep watching for a bit, maybe it’s awesome enough that it’s worth it. I was so happy when he said he’s been doing just fine with the free version. ☺️ So now I’m back to ordering. But still, it bothers me that there’s a subscription at all. I’m so sick of being nickel-and-dimed to death.

Thank you for the thorough review! I watched your original Hatch video as well as this one as I’m trying to decide which one (if at all) to buy for Christmas! I am now sold on the Hatch 2 and cannot wait to incorporate into my wake up routine!!

Good to know that the speaker is louder... I've had the Hatch restore 1 for almost a year and the speakers finally gave out on me. Even on 100 sound level it still is quiet and now crackly

Thank you for sharing. Why is EVERYTHING made to break or fall apart now?! Can we get quality products since everything is so expensive now? Consumerism is starting to make me question everyone’s intelligence, including mine. We have more control of the market with how we spend our money than we think. Look at what just happened with the Kansas Chief’s stadium.

Thank you for the review! Does the Restore 2 app allow for setting an alarm schedule by day of the week? I'm a former Philips customer (my sunrise light just died) and I'm shopping around for a new device.

How many rise to wake sounds or features do you get with the free version? You mentioned you don’t renew the membership, but have you now with the new machine?
Amazing review, almost got that 200 dollar phillips instead. But after the hearing the free sounds this device is much more worth it to me.
I bought the Phillips seven years ago for a heft price and it died within 6. My old clock radio from the 80's still works. Not a good comparison for the price I paid, very disappointed and now cautious about spending big dollars on an alarm with light.
how is the light different between the 2? Does the 2 fill the room the same way the 1 does, or is it more muted due to the mesh?

Do they both have the same amount of sunrise settings? I hate the look of the mesh linen all over but I mainly want it for the sunrises
it's all different but similiar. You get more unique ones with the restore 2 !
Are all the sleep sounds different from hatch restore 1 vs 2…if I understand correctly? Lastly…I may have misunderstood…are there any free sleep sounds on 2.0? How many vs 1.0 original? We have an original and didn’t continue with the premium subscription because we just were using the free sleep sounds. Thank you for the great review.
Yes different sounds but similar. There are free ones as well just different sounds. Overall I love both and use the free in restore 2. Thank you!
I cant find an answer. How to have the night rest sounds automatically turn on without touching it?
They dont have that option but what we can do is schedule an alarm and it will turn on and set it to whatever you want!
So it looks like the sounds have 3 options, one to fall alseep to, one that plays the whole night, and one that plays as your waking alarm. Is that correct?

Can you set the sunrise and wake up sounds to start at different times? I'd like to have the light come on first, then the sound as backup.

If the resore 2 is on mute will the sunset and sunrise still work? I use my alexa as a sound machine (can't sleep with any thing else as a sound machine, idk why) and like to wake up to a song I've chosen the night before with my phone alarm. But really want the sunrise & sunset feature to see if it will help with my insomnia & trouble waking up.

I had alot of wifi connection problems with my restore. Can I really use this one without wifi? Also connect to it with the app without wifi? Kinda like bluetooth?
Initially you need wifi. After you set it up you don't. If you want to use your phone however you still need the wifi on both devices.
So once we set our settings we can turn off Wi-Fi and the the restore 2 will remember the settings?
I had Wi-Fi problems as well as everyone else in the reviews but not one single YT video stated this which makes me think Hatch made people take them down. I ended up returning mine because not even customer service could help. If all the reviews bashed the Wi-Fi settings but no one on YT said anything, then I doubt anyone will say something this time around.
@@cassiearcheytheoretically, yes. But I’ve had mine for 2 months and the app has prompted me twice to do firmware updates so I wouldn’t recommend completely disconnecting WiFi. I unplug my WiFi modem every night and my clock still works, so long as I have to correct alarm settings before I unplug my WiFi. Hope that helps!

How much is the yearly fee?
Can you set the length of the sleep program? I'd like it to be 15 minutes not 60.
If you mean the duration of the sunrise in the morning, you can set the duration to a shorter time. I have mine at 30 minutes which means 30 minutes before my alarm goes off, that’s when the sunrise starts and gradually gets brighter.
Disclaimer: the OG restore does have a button to turn the alarm off manually without a phone :-) it’s on the lower left hand bottom
Do the sleep sounds play all night long and automatically transition into wake up sounds?

Can I use my Bluetooth speakers for the sounds so partner isn't affected?
You cannot!
how many sunset and sunrise options does it have on the free version? Were the sunset options you previewed the only free ones? I can't do a membership for that price but want to be sure the options are worth it on the free version!

Can I turn off the alarm sound, but keep the light on for getting up in the morning? Seems like they have to both turn off when I hit the top button.

wait i think he mentioned it can be just light, no noise.. but are you referring to once they both go off. can you just mute the sound without it affecting the light aspect?
Yes, I just double checked my app and you can have the sunrise without sound 😊
Oh wait, I misunderstood. I do not think this is an option right now. I feel the same way. A work around would me to just tap the rise button instead of holding it down. This will snooze the clock instead of turning the alarm off and the alarm music will stop but the light will stay lit.
Any chance you have a link or guidance on how to connect it to Alexa? I've been trying for a few days now with no luck. :-(
You have to download the skill from Alexa app, Hatch. ONce you do, it should automatically sync

Mine had the same thing. Just got it replaced for free out of warranty. I don't see it as a small issue.. the clock is basically it's most basic function. It's like a cell phone which can't properly make calls. From what I've seen this seems to be a pretty common issue with the original Restore :(

If you mean the sleep sounds and the alarm sounds, yes, I believe so.
Other than the light I can literally do all of this on my phone right now for free. Am I missing something?

@@EverydayChris ah, I went with the restore 1 in the end. I don’t know why but on Amazon the company is selling the old model for £190 (239$) and the hatch 2 for £350 ($442) it seems crazy.
We have a British made one with an awesome light called lumie, but for some reason they use only analogue buttons and have no Bluetooth/app which I thought was insane in 2023. Crazy how hard it is to get a reasonably priced premium sun light with good features in the uk…

I’ve had a ton of problems with my Restore. Customer service offered to upgrade me to the Restore 2. I’m still hesitant because ultimately I don’t want to pay for upgrades (not everything in life needs to be subscription 🫠) and the wake up alarm sounds are truly heinous and annoying.
