Greatest respect for Chris Ryan, he's a true professional in what he does. The SAS are simply the best trained, well skilled soldiers in the world. I have read all Chris's novels too, really enjoyed them. He puts in a lot of detail from his years of working with the SAS, well worth reading.
I read a book of his then on my 8th. Love this to actually see him and as a fellow Brit thank you Sir for defending me also mate. Love to buy you a few beers,, Just watched a special on the SBS like the SAS. , Brave and crazy lads and glad they protect me.
They didn't just use hand-held cameras as was stated at the beginning of episode 1. They had a film crew out there in the jungle all the way to the finish line.
I found this 4 part video series very interesting, but you need to consider these 5 SIGNIFICANT failure points in the story, which would invalidate the narrative in real life :- a. Chris "blew the guys up" with the grenade. Yes, it still slowed them down, but in real life one or more would be dead. That would really slow them up!! b. Your helicopter dropped the guys in the marshy area under the instruction of the exercise HQ. HQ did this based on Chris' known GPS position. Why? because the four guys had basically failed the exercise at this point and HQ gave them another chance...dumping them in a bog!! You blew the story right there. Chris had won the game at this point. c. Then, on realising their mistake, the HQ had to artificially intervene AGAIN and picked up the guys by helicopter and brought them artificially closer to Chris' pick up point. d. In real life, Chris would have had an opportunity to ambush the boat as it went past him in the jungle. He could have taken them all out, but I accept he would not have necessarily known if there were others chasing him down, too. e. The pick up was very cheeky, but in real life the chasers would have sprayed the pick up boat with arms fire, probably killing everyone including Chris. Still, the videos were entertaining, nonetheless.
Absolutely true mate there would be bloody firefight between Chris and the hunter team in real life mission. Anyways Chris is still the best in the entire SAS history.
They had a spotter plane ,helicopter, local radio navtive people who told them where he was, tracking,GPS the best american delta force special forces you have and there were 4 of you"s .And you still couldn't catch him.You gotta admit the SAS are the best in the world and the most experienced.they have been going since 1943 .And I am from the US
Chopper, spotter plane so fucken what? In N Queensland Australia in 1996 we had 2 land rovers with trailers, a 4 ton truck and 8 ton trailers worth of water gerry's and almost the same in ration packs with 2 recon choppers over the top of the cache area. We were guiding them by radio and also had weapons trained on them, they saw nothing. The moral to the story is jungle is thick and very easy to hide in. Our SASR and USSFs though given a single grid reference on a 1:25,000 map couldn't find a whole company, in fact the SASR, USSFs and the New Zealand Recon were all taken out or wiped out in this exercise. SF worship needs to stop, armies have plenty of good soldiers in Infantry Battalions.
In part 3 Ryan lays a booby trap. Ok, it's a smoke grenade, the shmucks tripped it....In real life, it would have been a fragmentation grenade, and totally fucked the hunter guys up...game over lol Ryan wins every time.......
To all the yanks who wanna talk shit about Chris and say if it was real life he would get caught. This is the same Chris Ryan who walked 8 days thru the Iraqi desert evading enemy and capture after the rest of his team were captured or killed. He is an sas legend and has set sas records.
I'm an ex gamekeeper and have spent my whole life in the woods.I wouldn't have rushed,i can bet knowone would have tracked me.Respect to Chris though as he's running to a time limit.SAS nuff said!
Bollox...........unless you can float you will leave sign. It's impossible not to................the very best native trackers would ping you no worries.
In jungle, hunting is not an easy task. Thats why u need a company with good tracker to hunt a soldier in jungle so that u always have a fresh body & mind.
This is stupid, the odds here are even, all cary heavy equipment, dont know the area... In reality he would be running from native people, who carry almost nothing, know all the paths, move twice as fast as he does... would be much more interesting.
Never forget, the SAS train for this in jungles all over the world continuously. They are either on ops or training! They are taught by experts in all cultures, in every field! Like tribal bushmen etc! These locals would know the ground, but they wouldn't have his sheer level of professionalism and training with Planning, tactics, evasion, ambush and assault! Their marksmanship skills under fire and intense pressure would be levels apart! Shit Chris disabled a Special forces unit here single handedly! Guys who have had millions of dollars spent on their training. IRL that would have been a claymore and you'd better believe the killzone with his level of training would have taken everybody out of the fight, these guys don't fuck about!

Sas skill over American money and ego.
SEALS... a spotter plane, radio, Delta force team and the locals.

USA navy seals are actual sea seals for SAS.

I couldn't find my car keys yesterday. I'd never find Chris Ryan!
Would've been great if this had a become a multi season series !!!!!
Never get tired of watching this. Thank you for adding it

Loving all the SF vets in the coms section.
Respect.
The guys hunting him, are Tier 2, Chris is Tier 1. The difference is plain.
In part 3 Ryan lays a booby trap. Ok, it's a smoke grenade, the shmucks tripped it....In real life, it would have been a fragmentation grenade, and totally fucked the hunter guys up...game over lol Ryan wins every time.......
Agreed.
Agreed.
Brilliant, well done chris
Good job Chris ... Congratulacions
Ha ha ha ha. 13:45 - Chris Ryan wins and it cuts to Muddy Waters "I'm a MAN (yeah)". This is so fucking cool. This is the stuff! Priceless viewing.

I’m former USMC and I wish Mr Ryan was my neighbor.
All other Special Forces imitate the SAS or were trained by them. Fact. They are the Creme de la crème.
Legendary SAS

Chris is bring along with him Duku Chandong, the famous Sarawak Malaysia machete.
Sas simply the best

lesson received...;)
God bless the SAS
Too bad Yankie boys....but that's our Chris!!!
RYAN IS A FUCKING BADMAN!
Friday they really think they could get Chris ? 🙈 former SAS soldier and the one famous for the best and longest ever escape and evasion
he got away because he's SAS
Dude with the beard had a massive sense of humour failure when it started pissing down. Could just tell by his body language.
Yet in part 1 of this video you are calling him a liar. Strange.

All you Ryan worshipers. It was TV show, join the dots. The booby trap mistake is something you're taught to avoid as a recruit, at least it was.
