I think I’m more concerned abt people making fun of my shitty bike
    UPDATE:
I went and brought my hard tail and also rented a FS bike. First run with the hard tail was sketchy, but it was fun. Coming from a BMX background, I quickly progressed on the trails. The rental bike was a whole different world. It was my first time ever on a full suspension and it was amazing. So amazing that it convinced me to buy a Giant Trance. Already went up to Snow Summit for a second time and wiped out on Turtle but was still fun. While I think everyone should ride a hard tail at some point, spend the extra money for a rental full suspension bike at least once to experience it.

I sported my 2012 26er for 8 years before upgrading. Hit Mammoth 2-3 times a year on that bike and could still blow past guys on way better builds. I think it makes you a better rider when you do decide to upgrade. Ride what you have and can afford and have fun doing it.

When I first bought my hardtail (Giant Talon), I took it here and survived all the blue and green trails. You can make it down the mountain. I would imagine a full suspension would be a lot more fun though!

Hahah I decided to keep it mellow on a run before lunch and take going green cause I never had taken it, we were doing laps on blue steel as it had just opened all day. My chain came off and my brother and his buddies ended up way ahead of me.. fast forward to 3/4 of the way down the trail where those whoopy jumps are.. yeah.. over confident and not following basic new trail logic, I went flying through jumping them.. into locking out my brakes and flying over that sharp right turn at the end. Magically I didn't hit any trees or stumps and the climb out was like straight up lol.. shook me up the rest of the day..
It taught me something.. you can ride the hardest trains and most difficult features but if you let up your guard and get over confident on trails you don't know.. you can get even more hurt than the latter... bike ended up at the shop for the rest of the day too... while I was nursing a few sore bones, pride, and some bruises.. Lesson learned lol.

The Outsider MTB The Outsider MTB ok. I watched. And to be honest, you proved my point on Turtle. Of the 5 people you passed, you slowed down and announced yourself to one of them. The rest you blew by (at very unsafe distances on two of them) and even took the time to say how they didn’t belong there. This is the culture at many bike parks - especially SS. And I get it, bike parks are for people that want to ride fast downhill, take lots of jumps, and rack up the PRs on Strava. I don’t think being part of this culture makes you a bad person - when you pay what these places charge, you want to get the most out of it. My point is simply that you posed the question about bike parks being family friendly and chose SS to answer it. As a husband and father to “Green” riders, and a subscriber to your channel, I want to engage in dialogue with you and share my experience that SS is NOT family friendly. They don’t have enough green trails, the trails they have progress very quickly, and the riders there blow by you and have zero tolerance for not bombing down the hill as fast as possible. This mentality discourages newer riders from the activity, and when it’s carried over to the local trails, people complain to land managers, and trails get shut down. People forget that when you leave the bike park, most trails are multi-use, and courtesy is the key to keeping the trails we love. I appreciate your videos and understand that having sponsors is the only real way to make money on this platform. But if you want to make a video about a SS, be real and honest about the culture of this place (ironically, I think you were without realizing it). If you want to make a video about family friendly bike parks, go to one that has a network of green trails where more advanced riders would never be on those trails and green riders can feel comfortable learning at their own pace.

I was using SS as an example and when I was flying by these rides were in the middle of the trail. I was pointing out to inform how you should never do that. By example I meant showing how bike parks have beginner and blue trails. Many people don’t know that. I’d say Skypark is definitely more mellow so maybe this would have been a better example. But yeah, obviously the culture at bike parks is more core than the local trails. There are people there specifically for mtb, instead of hikers sharing the trails, so going faster feels safer as to not run into them. As for saying the youngster didn’t belong there - this was true. He wasn’t ready for turtle yet and was below the skill level for that trail which made it unsafe for everyone. That’s why I made a point to show what the trails have before riding them. Like a visual map. I appreciate your feedback and do see how you’d feel that way about SS though. Of all the parks around I’d say this one has the most core of riders and can be intimidating. I think there should be more greens except the one for sure. 👍
