I got the 144hz option for £1500 on sale. An absolute steal with the 3070 and i7 11800h. The 17.6 inch screen lots pretty bright (but it’s dark and winter right now) and I colour calibrated it. Overdrive is fantastic. I am using the discrete graphics only.
So far I have ~100-150fps in shadow of tomb raider max settings (everything) and ultra rtx shadows (1080p). Temps are 60-70 for cpu and gpu. The benchmark also claims that I am only 70% gpu bounded, which I reckon is due to the 4.2Ghz cpu clock when using all cores (one core is also maxed out in certain situations) . Csgo runs at least 450fps getting 550 in the benchmark at 1280x1024 lowest settings. Valorant runs 250-300fps but is cpu bounded as one core is maxed. Gpu roughly 30%. (1352x1080) (I know stretched doesn’t work but I’m used to the hud so. Temps are also below 70C cpu and gpu.
Only downsides are unoptimal thermal pasting on cpu as well as gpu power limits. Throttle stop has a max 10C difference between two cores during the stress test maxing at 95C at 4.18Ghz so the paste wasn’t very evenly spread. Although, the cap is at 4.2Ghz so I can’t complain too much. A -30mv undervolt gives 75-80C or 95C at 4.5Ghz on all cores Also when running Shadow of the tomb raider at 4K dsr with at least 50fps using afterburner I get regular gpu power limit triggers so an undervolt would allow the whole 2ghz clock speed to be used.
All tests done with max fan (I think that is cooler boost on). Also headphone output is not too loud, I guess to protect your ears but I’ve become used to the deafening volume of my old laptop
All in all I’d give 4.5 stars as there is a lack of usb ports on the left side as I’d hit them with my mouse otherwise. I can deal with the cpu maxing as when gaming use this never happens, only hitting the 4.2Ghz all core cap but at around 60-70C as not cores are 100% usage. I can deal with the Gpu power limit as the clock only drops to around 1850mhz from 2ghz but there is no significant fps drops that I can see.

    • @steeldoubloon19
      @steeldoubloon19 Před 2 lety +1

@@sparshbansal6624 Yeah still runs good. There is no bloatware minus the stock MSI center can be turned off on startup. On battery it lasts around 40-60 mins without battery saver depending on the game with at least 60fps (cpu limited games seem to suffer more though).
There are few negatives, mostly the side they stuck usb ports on, and for some people the lack of a usbc port. Also I can't figure out how to use windows sonic without using my mini usb amp/dac.
Although earlier this year Shadow of the Tomb raider broke with insane hitching and microstutters. Forcing dx12 in steam and doing the windows security changes for dx12 fixed it and it runs nicely at ultra.
If you have any questions feel free to reply. I'd say it's a good deal for 1500£ or less, roughly 2000$. Although I did buy this earlier last year so that is around 1550£ or 2070$ already with the inflation rates of this year.

@@steeldoubloon19 Hey I am considering buying this laptop as well. My chief concern is overheating due to past experience. Could you tell me if it runs the latest games, such as elden ring and God of war and so on on ultra at high fps whilst still maintaining low temperatures? Have you faced any major issues with this laptop expect the ones you mentioned? Thanks a lot

      @@vineetkaddu1214 Hi vineet.
      TLDR:
Haven't experienced overheating, average temps experienced are 65C GPU (RE2, Shadow of tomb raider) and 75C CPU.
Stress testing gives 75C GPU, 95C GPU. GPU power throttles and CPU thermal throttles.
I haven't experienced thermal throttling in games (CPU or GPU), however SOTR power throttles the GPU occasionally when under high load.
      FULL:
I haven't played Elden Ring. The most difficult recent games I've run are Shadow of the tomb raider (SOTR) and Resident Evil 2.
I play Shadow of the tomb raider 1440p dlss quality, Ultra settings with ray tracing and achieve 75-90fps depending on the situation. I don't use cooler boost but the temps get to an average of 75C CPU and 65C GPU in the large forest area (most performance intensive). I have a rather cool house though at 18C so that may contribute. It does seem to be power throttled on the GPU at 130W (I think) when turbo boosted as some cutscenes max the power. That's probably the main issue, however this power limit still achieves good fps so I have not problem here.
Resident Evil 2 Remake I run pretty much Ultra settings and also 1440p dlss but texture res on 4GB as the ingame cap turns orange at 6GB / 8GB capacity. However it looks pretty nice and runs at 130-144fps (capped fast vsync but I reckon it's memory as the GPU usage is not 100% but memory is maxed at 8GB use) as I thought higher fps would be better. I've had no issues in this game so far.
The only issues in general are when I first ran SOTR, it stuttered like hell using dx12, and when I used dx11 I got bad fps (

It's by far the most available and less pricey laptop in the market now, equipped with the latest GPU, yet I am reading some polarised critiques about that and I was wondering what you thought about it. Many thanks and keep up the good work!

This is a very good laptop... One confusing thing about it though is today their are already 3 gens of the GP76 there is the 10th,11th and 12th gen laptops...
Add to that they have differences skus within those generations which add or remove certain things...
Like I have an older 10th gen like on this vid but on mine I do have a card reader ( still no mini display tho)...
Then on the 11 gens they added mini display port but took away the UsbC....
Then on the 12th they give you both mini display and USBC
Still any gen on this Machine is great paired with at least 3070... The lack of some ports is a bummer on some models but hey there always dongles!..

@@Ku6epIIe4eHe7 yeah, ryzen 7 5800h is insane. I got a cinebench R20 multicore score of 5027 today. Thats more than a i7-10700 DESKTOP cpu as far as i can see. It might be about the same in just gaming, but the ryzen is faster. The i7-10870h gets a laughable score of about 3650 in Cinebench 20, and consumes almost double the power to do so.
