Mine arrived with two extras: A US type B power cables (I ordered it with US type A) and a really nice T-shirt!
Awesome! That’s a nice touch - no extras arrived here.
The hopper lid can be slid back and has a second magnet that holds it halfway back. This pretty much eliminates the popcorning issue.
Thanks for the tip! I was unaware of this feature!
@@jackowens_ no worries! it's one of those little things that makes a big difference
Unfortunately, I’ve been using that feature and it still kicks beans back at me before I can get the lid shut.
It helps a lot but doesn’t eliminate. Estimate a 80-90% reduction from my experience.
Nice review! I'm a bit bummed that the taste leans so traditional, but still looking forward to mine. :)
Yes, my findings have been higher body and texture. Enjoy! The workflow is great :)
Thanks for the video! Mine just arrived, but I noted that the cord adaptor to the grinder can wiggle a bit, is the norm for yours too?
No problem, thanks for watching! I haven’t found that to be the case on mine. The connector for the power cord on the unit is firm and secure.
I am curious does the auger act to slow feed the beans to the burrs or or is it best to still slow feed the beans manually?
The auger is to feed the beans to the burrs. It doesn’t pre-break. You can tip the whole dose in at once or slowly feed…. You may see slightly different results. I’ve experienced no stalling even with light roasts at low RPM.
Just started using my 078s, so not alot of data points so far - but I havent seasoned mine much and dont notice any issues so far. Mine is from Batch 8... I wonder if they rushed production of the early grinders and didnt clean the burrs up properly before shipment?
Interesting to hear you’ve had no seasoning needed - that’s great! It’s hard to know what’s been the situation. Enjoy the grinder!
I was in Kikstarter Batch 11 Just got in and No channeling and great taste. 1100 RPM Grind setting 3. No seasoning and all grerat.
Thankyou for the video.
No problem Paul, thanks for watching! Do you have or are you considering one?
@@jackowens_ I have one 'on the ship' between China and Australia. It will be with me hopefully in the next few weeks. Did you experience the dreaded 'clumping' of grounds that others have reported?
@@paulevo511 nice! No, I didn’t experience any untoward clumping - there is a hair more than some other grinders, but it’s very very minimal.
Where did you buy 6kg of coffee to season the burrs? Im in the UK too so wondering where I could buy cheap bulk coffee
I didn’t bulk buy the coffee, unfortunately. I’ve heard of some people grabbing bags of sample or test roasts from their local roasters.
My knocker is holding back about 10x as much (maybe its lack of humidity here?) 1.9 grams versu 0.2 grams in your case.
Wow. That’s a lot more than mine. Seems it could be humidity, or maybe a lot of static?
where did you buy this? you say it's on sale in the UK for £615 but I can't find it anywhere.
This unit was bought through the initial kickstarter. I think it’s preorder currently.
@@jackowens_ It's on preorder on the timemore website for US and EU only. There is no option to ship to the UK. The price has also significantly increased. The EU price for example is €899.00 (that's a reduced sale price.) These details are quite important and I think you should consider emphasising them in future when reviewing. Despite what you say, the grinder is in fact not available to purchase at all in the UK. In the US and EU it can be preordered with no confirmed shipping date, but only at a price that is much higher than the kickstarter price.
@@ambolix currently on sale in the UK via Sigma Coffee for £650 and in stock.
Funny. In my experience, the body is a bit thinner than usual, the cup is high in clarity and the acidity is nice but very present. A bit of a fresh taste, highlighting the acids in the coffee.
That’s very interesting! A contrast to my findings…
I’d be hesitant to buy anything from Timemore after reading a few comments from people who purchased their scale and said their customer service was abysmal to non-existent when they had issues with their scales. Hopefully Timemore has improved their customer service since then but I don’t have any way of knowing.
I haven't has any direct contact experience with them myself to comment, but I have heard of a few people have issues with their grinders and Timemore seem to have been right there on it.
@@jackowens_ Good to know. Sounds like they've begun to invest more in their customer service department. It's possible they experienced rapid growth with the popularity of their scales and weren't adequately prepared for it.
