Thank you so much! You saved me a lot of time. Previously I was sanding everything, staining, then using marine varnish.
Very nice. Short and to the point! Thanks Rachel.
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I bought 2 beautiful wicker chairs at a yard sale but they needed some tlc. I followed your instructions and they are so gorgeous and expensive looking. Look great on my porch. Thank you!
Got halfway through the video and had to re-start it. I realized I hadn't been paying attention to what you were saying because I was stunned by how gorgeous you are. Now on to my wicker project - thanks for the guide!
HOPE ALL IS WELL. WOOHOO!
Great Job Thank you.
Great and informative video. Very important question, was this chair a different color or was it always this brown? I have been looking for brown wicker peacock chairs to no avail. I finally found 2 beauties but they're white and another is silver. Can I stain these chairs to the color I prefer? Do you recommend I change the color or just buy them brown (if I can find them)? Thanks Rachel. 😊
by in brown. You cant stain over paint. You need to strip of paint first and that would difficult to impossible with wicker
I bought an old wicker mirror and someone hand painted it. Is there any way to fix this??
What you applied on top coat pls tell the exact metirial name. N brush which u used pls let me know what kind of brush is that, is it a perticular type of brush?
Thank you
Hi I just bought a wicker shelf, but it was painted white. Should I sand or strip the paint off first or can I just do your method and it’ll be fine?
You can stain right over it and then seal it.
Do you recommend a brush instead of a sprayer to apply stain?
Can you do this same process for rattan?
Rachel - my local paint store keeps telling me I need to strip my wicker first 😬. I don’t want to damage the wicker with stripper and I really don’t want to just spray paint them. Do you have any ideas? Or do you think your method will work just fine without stripping?
Depends on the stain product you use but any solid or semi solid stain should adhere just fine using my method. The chairs held up wonderfully outdoors (I did cover them during storms), and I didn’t strip them beforehand as you can see.
Do I put the clearcoat on while the chair is still wet from paint?
No, let stain dry completely
