- I'm pruning my collected Douglas Fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii) trees to get them more compact and to create a more miniature look to the trees.

Love those trees. It’s amazing they survived their journey to “The Zone” Thanks, keep growing
Tough work on those trees. I like the end result!
Nice work on those Douglas firs. Especially like the largest one. Well done.
Cool trunks! I am glad the ratcheting pruners worked out well for you.
Love From Nepal 🇳🇵 ❤️
perfect konsep bonsai
Very enjoyable, thanks!!
The main tree is really looking good! 😍 It will make an amazing standalone bonsai eventually. 👍🐦💙
Nice pruning!
Great trees.
Great advanced pruning techniques by a great Master Surgeon, Dr Nigel Saunders. Excellent!
Those tall ones would make a nice couple planted together 😊
before after yang sangat sempurna
Hello Nigel
I read that like pine and yew you should prune in early summer and also remove old needles to get more buds.
Happy new year
Kennet
I love the foliage on Douglas firs, yours are looking great Nigel.
They're looking better little by little Nigel! I love the smell of Douglas Fir trees. They are the trees we had as our Christmas trees for many years...

Happy new year Nigel and all in the channel 🥳🌼💐 from India. 🌸🎉🎊
Trees with a story! That old thick one sure looks neat!
👍👌
I think this coming year will be the year of the forest for me.
They look MASSIVE!
👍
I’m always amazed at your patience and ability to visualize the future of the tree! I’m still working on these skills 😅
Here in western Oregon, USA the mighty Douglas Fir grows abundantly. I've got a few small ones in bonsai pots. Your tutorial will be very helpful for training them. Thank you.
Hi Nigel, great videos as allways, hopefully, joining you soon on CZcams soon, been trying to make videos, 10 years later fingers X
you put a photo in at 15:03 which has two boulder peaks amongst the tops of the firs. This would make an interesting composition for a bonsai fir forest with the two peaks peaking above.
Hi Nigel, love your work! Have you looked into Ryan Neils lectures on doug fir? He has a theory about the right time to prune them to get strong spring growth. Hes wordy as always but its definitely worth a look mate. Cheers from Melbourne, Australia ✌️
It's amazing to me. When you got those trees I was thinking, "How do you deal with those branches"? Slowly I'm starting to understand what you are doing :-)
Sorry about that Nigel. Accidentally deleted my comment. Think I read in the notification they were kept inside? Surprising. Granted, the pots are all pretty shallow. I've got two junipers, a hinoki cypress, and a dwarf Alberta spruce roughing it outside this winter. Guess we'll see how they do
Whats your postal address please Nigel?
