- I'm pruning my Black Spruce that Jonathon gave me, to the tight conical form that you would typically see in nature. This tree will eventually be a medium to large tree in the future.
Tom sends me some cool gifts and I check in on my tropical trees that are still out in the greenhouses.

I can't imagine the time you spend editing each video. The music, the shots, and bonsai makes it unique. Thank you for your nonstop contributions to the bonsai community 🌳🙂
Agree. Tremendous amounts of effort and excellent finished content. I’ve been with the channel from the very beginnings and the progression and refinement in overall content and output is indescribable. Thank you very much Nigel!!!
I always wonder what his job is and how he has the time and money to do all this stuff. Seems like a good life from my side of the screen. I hope he has a good life, he deserves it.
He is the best 😀
Hopefully, he has a supporting partner in the background.
It doesn't matter for him how many followers he got....he make each and every video beautifully...good work sir keep spreading the knowledge of bonsai peoples are learning from u r videos from corners of the world just like me...
Thanks so much Shubham!!!
Absolutely...........he is an amazing and humble man ❤️
Love the smell of Spruce... back home when I was a kid, Spruce was the only tree available as Christmas tree. So the smell of the fresh Spruce brings out all the good memories from that time...enjoy working on Spruces for that reason...
A very fragrant tree! It reminds me of making violins!
Simply amazing intro, a wintery landscape is always striking!
Pots from me Nigel. Glad that they came. Hope the saw works out for you.
Thanks Tom, I thought so! They are wonderful!
Its easier to see the tree detail in your old studio with the black tarp as a background, but as its snowing the best place to film is in the new green house. Great intro footage.
The new greenhouse looks so good in the snow with all of the bonsai around it!
I dreamt today about snow
Strange how your summer warm days were longer than ours, but autumn so short and you already got the first snow.
Here in Latvia we will need to wait 1 more month for our snow
I've wondered the same (from Southern Finland), their continental climate obviously has more clear cut seasons compared to ours, even if the area seems to be a bit warmer than Finland - especially during summer. Must be the Gulf stream and the Baltic toning down our climate.
Beautiful Nigel just Beautiful - i really loved and enjoyed the intro with the snow - the colder days are coming!! We just had our first frost this morning and they are talking about snow for us too
Lovely scenes and I can imagine how cold it is out there. Great video as always.
Thank You Nigel for your lovely videos! :)
All coverd in snow,i really Love that.
It's a magical winter wonderland ☃️👍
Blown away by your snowy morning intro. The music really brings that magical feeling of transformation and mystery to the intro. Also, the contrast between the lush greenery inside the greenhouse and snowy winter outside, really does it for me. Beautiful edit.
Thank you so much!
I think that the spruce looks really good after the pruning. Super!!!
Thanks Tom, hopefully it's off to a good start!
Wonderful video, love the snow and the fallen leaves. The bonsais look majestic with all the snow.
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas! Snow on the trees. Exquisite!!!!!!
Hi Nigel, the temple looks amazing in the snow! I can't wait to see it be used in a planting. It aged so well!
I can’t wait to see how this tree develops.
That light is like the light they used for the sun in The Truman Show haha I noticed the scenes in the intro matches the rhythm of the music, nicely done Nigel!
I wonder if my trees realize they are on CZcams for all the world to see, just like the Truman show?!! Lol and thanks Xin!
Aww... Snow makes things in your backyard extra beautiful! Even the new greenhouse looks extra cute! 😍
I live too close to the sea, so we might or might not have snow in January, due to the global warming.
Nice work on the spruce, looks like the "candle" spruce we have up north!
Thanks Aija!
Really a radical change in weather, as mentioned on the title of the video. And it's more impressive for me, here in Brazil, where we are moving in direction to summer now. Looks like it will be a looong winter. Very beautiful shots on start, with an excelent edition and soundtrack. Congratulations, Nigel!
The echo inside the green house isn't so noticable anymore now that you have more plants
Great video Nigel ! Wow sudden weather change , finally the warmth is here and everything is responding , all but my lazy oak is budding out ( hope he made it through the winter - he’s my little fighter ) , I think if I got some freebies I’d be a bit braver with pruning , I absolutely love how much you obviously love your new greenhouse , it’s written all over your face 😍
i get Walking with Dinosaurs vibes from the black spruce pictures. can just imagine a heard of sauropods lumbering through. getting chilly here in New England so i'll need to start the great plant migration soon. very relaxing video
I understand that maintaining a "constant"temperature is an important factor. Plants don't like large sudden fluctuations in temperature. Have you considered putting a sheet of clear plastic across the greenhouse ,where the apex meets the vertical walls of the greenhouse. This will create an air pocket between the roof and the sheet to stabilise the heat loss through the roof. I understand this is a technique Mr. Kimura employs in his "greenhouses".
I noticed the port in Dune as well, Nigel. Very cool!
Such a beautiful video. Love all your videos. Very informative and helps me tremendously. Keep them coming please. Thank you from jacksonville florida🐊
Bob Ross paints them beautifully ..
Thanks Timothy, yes, I'd look for a Ficus at a nursery, get a taller tree and then cut it way back to start it as a bonsai!
“You’ve got to respect that cone of vigor.” Nigel, that is one of my favorite Nigelisms!! As always, I enjoyed this vid!
Wow! you got more snow than we did up north... ish..
Dune was really good
Love the intro! Snow always looks so magical. Hopefully I can experience it someday!
Nice one Nigel. Sorry I'm not foist mate 😉😉 great job and wow first days of snow 🥶
Thanks Sam, it's back to summer here today!
Very good. Peace from indonesia
Thanks Nigel
WOW! The first snowfall of the year. Looks beautiful. (I haven't been in snow in 40+ years, can you believe that?) Enjoyed seeing your work on the Black Spruce. Your explanations of why you are doing certain cuts, etc. are priceless. I always learn something and look at trees a bit differently after watching your videos.
If the tree is strong enough, it will build out a 5 arm candelabra in spring.
Beautiful.
Great video as always Nigel, thanks!
And so it was winter, nature said
All of my plants are in my room in front of my window because the sun comes though my window really good and I have grow lights on to and it's 73 degrees f and my plants and trees are loving it I also have a banana plant to and I'm waiting for a money tree that I ordered to get delivered
Awesome Ben, I love the sunny days in winter!
I just love the sun
You all got way more snow than we did in Waterloo!
Yes, typical in our area!
Baba very nice video..... full power...
This video is amazing and I love all of your pine trees that aouther one of my favorite kids of trees
Thanks Ben!
No problem anytime
Beautifully edited as always ❤ love from Texas
Nice intro, Nigel 🙏🏻
Well, now I'm curious how you felt about David Lynch's version of Dune.
Do you leave your trees on the benches all winter? I put mine on the ground and cover with leaves.
You should consider turning off your fan and let the oil heater work its magic.
It’s probably my inexperience but I don’t know if I could resist chopping that back to eliminate the bare trunk 2/3 up the tree. Are you expecting that to back bud there? Thanks, keep growing
Hello Matt, I'm hoping it back buds, but if it doesn't I'm OK with that, many of the Black Spruce have bare spots on the trunk in nature and then have the arrow head on top. Either way, it will suits the Black Spruce style!
@@TheBonsaiZone ,,, Yes, on second thought it would look more natural. Thanks for your response, keep growing
Could you solar power the heater?
👍🍎
did you leave your heater on when it went down to 5? or was that what it went to without any heating?
That was with the heater on, set to the medium heat setting.
And should I make aouther video on how I water my trees
Yes, I found it very interesting, you find a way of doing everything!
Yha I proud of my self that I can keep all my plants alive because it is a lot of work for me put I managed to get it done
And I'm trying to get people to comment more on my videos and share them with friends and family
What's the song used in the beginning?
It is"When we found the horizon" It's from the CZcams library!
First
Awesome Foist Lloyd!
