I’m crazy for casseroles.
For $157 you served your family for 18 days. Wonderful job!🎉
But just think of the many portions ! Because one casserole doesn't just make 5 portions but most likely 8-10 so, it is an incredible savings !
I was thinking with casseroles you usually get lots of leftovers.
Right. Less than $9 each meal pan and each pan probably makes 2 meals.
Well, she corrected to $133 for the 18 meals, less than $8 per pan.
$133.00 wow $7.38 per casserole or $1.47 if you say each casserole will only serve 5. We all know that will serve more than 5. Great job
You are so wise to get an upright freezer! I’ve been preaching this for years. In chest freezers too many things get lost and forgotten. Side note, every time I have a new grandchild I go fill their family freezer with CASSEROLES!
That’s a beautiful tradition to begin. Hopefully your children will do the same some day ❤
The only difference that might be significant in some situations is that they are not as good at keeping things cold when the door is opened, so certain things might have a shorter life in that kind of freezer. That is not a big deal for most people though, just something to consider.
You are precious to do that for them. Great. Idea.
This past weekend my son and his family visited and I had everything made and in the freezer. Man, did that ever give me much more time with the family!
While I was pregnant, I literally made 28 freezer meals for after I gave birth. It was the best thing I did!! They lasted well over a month because some nights I actually felt like cooking. It was so nice to not have to stress about dinner! Thank you for the video Brooke! ❤
I also did that before my second child in 14 months. I even froze fresh bread roll dough. We ate really good, with very little help during that time.
I’m impressed that she shopped and made 18 casseroles for $133 and that she didn’t mess up her white shirt! Not one drop got one her! I’m also inspired to cook and learning many techniques. Go Southern Frugal Momma!
I’ve been binge watching all your videos for the last week and a half (I’ve been healing from a c section, so I’ve been taking it easy). You’ve also gotten me in to All things Mandy. I’m grocery shopping on Sunday and I’m excited to see if I’m able to budget better!
Congrats on the baby! 🎉🥳
Congratulations on your new blessing.
Congratulations on your little bundle!! Good luck!! You can do it!❤❤
That was a lot of work! My mom used to get in the mood to cook and bake. Our freezer was stuffed with delicious food! When she'd come home tired from work, those meals were her saving grace.
You've saved so much food money, energy costs, and time and made healthy frozen meals to boot! 💐 🌹 🌸 🏵 🌼
Yahoo. I needed you. Just lost my momma and having horrible anxiety. And I just want to hear happy and watch comfort. Thank you, Brooke! ❤❤❤❤
Hugs.
♥♥♥ HUGS! ♥♥♥
🤗💕💕💕
Sorry for your loss but just remember those happy loving moments.
Very, very sorry for your loss. May your mother rest in eternal peace. My heart goes out to you. It's very hard to lose a parent. Give yourself grace and patience. And remember the good times you had with her. (((((( super big hugs))))) 🙏 keeping you in my prayers.
I love this idea. My problem in cooking ahead is remembering everything so THANK YOU for posting the shopping list that goes along with these. Such a time saver . You are a blessing
Where's the list?
@@janaschindel1145 in the description of the video🙂
WOW!!!!! When I say I am so impressed by how much food you made for your family for so little money. So much love went into those casseroles and I know that your family will taste it in every bite. Great job mama!
If you’re gonna make freezer meals a long term thing, start shopping yardsales and thrift store for casserole and glass baking dishes. That’s another double savings first by thrifting them and second by reusing them. If you haven’t watched her, Jamerille Stewart has awesome large family freezer meal prep videos
With the older generation downsizing, you may get some awesome free casserole dishes!
I’m proud of you to.
Most casserole dishes won’t fit 8n the freezer.
@@nancyfarkas3592 why not.? They do mine as well as I’ve watched many videos of them fitting in other peoples freezers
💯
I'm not going to make 18 freezer meals - but I am going to make ONE of each of these! They look so dang good!
PS: you are THISCLOSE to 50K subscribers! Whoooo Hoooo!
She got the 50
And just 2 hours later......50K!!!!! Congratulations Brooke!
I'm doing 1 each & portioning it out. This is awesome!!
Just watched your video. Great ideas! When my sons were still at home (they’re 32 and 25, with their own families now), I’d make Tater Tot Casserole frequently. To mix it up a bit, I’d season the ground beef with taco seasoning and add a can of Rotel (drained) and a can of Nacho cheese soup. Top with the tots and cheese. Sooooo good! I’d do the same, but with a can of manwich sauce and a can of cheese soup. My kids are making these for their own families!
She’s the real MVP with those meals
When I make something that can freeze, I make enough for me and a family of 5. I take my portion out and freeze the rest for emergency meals for new moms, care for a family whose mom is laid up or who is tied up with a sick family member. I have a bread maker so I always throw a loaf of homemade bread with it. I do use gluten free flour if I know there’s a need. I’ve also got together with other singles and each person brings two freezer meals with six servings. Then we each swap meals. We then have twelve different meals but only had to fix two.
Congratulations!✅ 18 casserole pans for the freezer… you must have been totally exhausted!!😞😞 But now you have tons of wonderful meals already done for your family! 😊 Thanks for sharing all of them with us and helping us to be prepared as well!
✅😊✅😊✅😊✅😊
I made freezer meals for my son and his wife before their first baby was born. It was a very appreciated gift.
O.M.G. Brooke! This was awesome! Bet you were wiped out after cooking all day but then you have all that done and ready to go. Your boys are eatin' well girl!!! Loved this.
Never heard of John Wayne casserole. Would love to see it baked up! Everything looked amazing!!
In separate jars, in my fridge, I keep all my different meat drippings that arent used for gravy. They are great clavor enhancers!!❤❤❤
This is brilliant! You are brilliant! The standing freezer is such a good idea. Man, I don't know what I'd be doing without you giving us all these wonderful ideas😊 The casseroles are an inspiration.
$133÷18 casseroles is just under $7.39 per meal! Wow! Thats actually quite impressive to feed at least 4 with large portions and maybe 6-8 people with more reasonable portions. Less than $10 to feed an entire avg sized family for 1-2 nights even if you add a couple/few cans of veggies and bread and butter or garlic bread, if wanted, on the side!
These all look delicious! Adding beans in to the meat mixtures could make them stretch further for the super tight budgets.
I learned this from a friend. Works every time!
Great video. I’m really looking forward to the freezer cooking series. Thanks for all the great ideas Brooke.
Great variety and amount of skillet/casserole meals for $133, Brooke! Wonderful..
HEY~ You may want to heed the advice of Becky over @Acre Homestead after she lost quite a bit of her freezer meals by not shutting her stand up freezer door all the way, without realizing it...yep, lost it all~so she now has an ALARM for it so she'll be made aware and won't lose all that hard work, time and $$$$ again. Just thought I'd pass that along to ya~ Enjoy your evening!
We got alarms for both freezers. The freezers are in the garage, but the alarm unit is in the house, so if the temp goes up we will still hear the alarm.
I love your channel. I am a grandma now, so past the stage of feeding a family very often. I appreciate how you create good food on a small budget. This is a skill our ancestors had to employ, and they did it well. My parents grew up poor in the hills of West Virginia, but because their moms were so good at stretching their food budget, they really didn’t know how truly poor they were. I love how you give dignity to the art of cooking frugally. I plan to make some of your casseroles and freeze them in smaller portions! 😊
You should make a cookbook with all of your recipes. Making me hungry watching this one, and there are some I can not wait to try. Love your channel!
I am SO HERE for this series!! My freezer is nearly empty now after we ate thru most of it postpartum. Gimme all the budget recipes! 😄
Life is too short to pair socks and fold underwear...... I just throw the tots in any old way lol hopefully if I do it right they all wind up in the pan😂😅😂😂
Hahahaha! My little OCD brain insists I line mine up all in a row. Maybe next time I’ll try it your way. ❤️🇨🇦
The alfredo stuffed shells look AMAZING!
This was AWESOME!!! You did GREAT!!!
ONLY $155.00 for 18 CASSEROLES!!!
YOU ROCK, GIRL!!! I am definitely, going to try these for my Family. Thank You for sharing this one with Us!!! 😊👍🏼💕💕💕👋🏼
Brooke, you are quickly becoming one of my favorite channels
Wow, thank you!❤❤
@SouthernFrugalMomma While you are at Goodwill etc, keep an eye out for glass baking dishes, so you don't have to keep buying the Aluminium pans. Glass is supposed to better as well. Love your channel too😍👍
If you microwave the cheese wiz a little in a jar it will pour over the casserole a little easier. Thanks for the ideas!
Great idea.
Thank you so much. I make freezer meals for my 92 year old parents ( on a smaller scale) but I appreciate the ideas!
i make stuffed shells, green peppers, and cabbage rolls every fall to store for winter. I flash freeze them on sheet pans. Then i put them into sandwich bags individually, and then into large freezer bags. When i pull them out to cook, i can pick by the meal how many i will need. Works great for my family
Brilliant. 👍
The chicken crescents add chopped celery to the mixture… yum!!!
I love tuna casserole. 2 cans of cream of mushroom soup, 1 can of milk, 1 cup of sour cream, 2 cans of undrained tuna, 1 can of drained sweet peas, and 2 cups of cheese of your choice. Mix it all together and layer the cheese, reserving enough cheese for top. Cover the reserved cheese mixed with 1/2 cup bread crumbs and bake for 40 minutes at 350 degrees. You can top it with sour cream as desired.
I always date my frozen foods to avoid having them go to long in the freezer cause the taste and texture seems to change after 6 months. Looking forward to trying some of the different casserole flavors you showed.
Thanks for all the great recipes! Wonderful for fall & winter coming. My total was $192 for my Walmart. The chicken was $30 & hamburger was $35 but 18 meals 👍
I love this channel, Brooke has great budget ideas. She cracks me up, too.
I'm definitely going to make these foir our freezer. You prepared all these economically and easily. I need help with some of my meals to feed my family. I have a lit of responsibilities and those days its hectic this will make it a lit easier. Congratulations on the 50k! 🎉
These look really good! An optional way to do the ritz and butter, melt the butter and then mix the crushed Ritz in it, then sprinkle. I’ve found that gets them all extra buttery!!☺️
Hi from the uk! Just wanted to let you know that your vids have been getting me through some really tough times. I love watching your vids it feel like being with a friend. You are such a comfort to me. Even if we don't have a lot of the stuff you use here in the uk! Thank you so much for being you, so lovely!
I loved seeing your sister's video! I hope she continues to share more lunch and meal ideas. You two should do a cooking show together. It would be a blast to see the two of you together🎉❤😊.
Thank you for sharing. You are the closest cook on here thats relatable. Thank you soo much❤❤❤❤❤
I’m a single adult but wanna start getting into freezer meals for the sheer convenience. Hopefully soon, I just got some items that should help me keep my extremely limited freezer space better used than it’s ever been before. So far it has been.
Upright freezers are a must for me and my family. We’ve had several chest freezers and upright freezers. The chest freezers are fine for my husband and son’s deer meat, wild turkeys and fish from their hunting and fishing trips. Great recipes and great video as usual. I enjoy watching you, Dusty, your boys and sisters when they do videos also. Thank you for posting the lists for your recipes. It really helps.
I love your Sweet Boys. I have 3 Grandsons. One is a High School Teacher now. The 2nd One is working for a Water Company. And my youngest One is going to Middle School soon.
What a great video with actual ingredients that people want to eat. I love your new upright freezer. It’s a beautiful sight when it’s filled with homemade meals.
WOW!!! You definitely deserve a round of applause 👏 👏👏 Great going, girlfriend!
P.s. congratulations on your new upright freezer! We just got one a few months ago and love love LOVE it!!❤❤
Tater Tot casserole ... add mixed veggies put it all into a Ziplock and smoosh it around ... Freeze it flat and it takes up a lot less room ( i freeze most of my freezer meals in Ziplock and save tons of space
I do as well, then transfer to a casserole dish and bake as needed. I try and not use aluminum due to the dementia/Alzheimer's connection and aluminum.
You’re brilliant! I’ve been asking for an extra freezer for years! All I have is my freezer that’s attached to my fridge. I make it work but dang it’s hard lol
That comes out to $7.39 per casserole. Not sure how many servings each of those casseroles are for your family. It'll be really nice to have those frozen and ready to go, especially if you catch a cold, are feeling extra tired or if you're super busy or have to leave the guys on their own. The recipes looked good but I'd have to cut down on the salt due to kidney disease. I would've added ricotta or cottage cheese to the lasagna because either of those have to be in mine. These recipes will help inspire a lot of people. I used to do meal prepping on the weekend when my son was a teenager and I worked 2 and 3 jobs. It helped a lot. Even just having hamburger meat cooked with onions or cooked chicken breasts helped saved time cooking dinner when I was exhausted from work.
Just a tip, if you'll get some of the plastic cutting boards from $tree they make perfect spacers for stacking your pans in the freezer and prevents 1 sinking into the other😊
I am currently redoing my whole house and doing a BIGGGG kitchen redo. I replacing all my appliances and I will be getting a upright freezer. I just fell that I will be able to be more organized with an upright and will have less food burn and food waste. Also I love doing freezer meals because I travel every 3 weeks and this helps my husband and son when I'm not home. ❤❤❤❤❤
I can’t possibly do all that in a day any more. I’m sure you’re exhausted but look at all those nights you won’t have to worry about cooking. Everything looked delicious too!
Smart girl to do it at the start of the school year, too. If she restocks as she depletes, too, it's going to make her holiday season go just that much smoother.
Anyone who feels Its too much can still break it down. Do half and you still get 9 days .Do more later in the month. I often just do 2 types . Like just a chili and a curry. But I make enough for 4 meals each. We eat 1 of each over 2 days and then I freeze the other 3 portions, one for each week of the month. On another day I might make another 2.
If you start thrift shopping you can find some glass Pyrex casserole dishes pretty cheap. Just start buying and saving them for your freezer meals so you don’t have to always buy aluminum pans. It will save you money in the long run.
Also, the aluminum will get in your system. No bueno!
The PYREX in caps is better than Pyrex lower case. Something to do with breakage…
Last week hubs and I had your freezer meals for dinner M-F. Everything was a hit & THANK YOU for making my life easier! Our faves were the tater tot casserole and the alfredo shells (that I had to sub rotini pasta b/c there were no large shells anywhere) & I did add frozen broccoli when I put it together last weekend. After a long day at work, it was so awesome to just throw something into the oven, make a salad & heat up a veg. WONDERFUL!
Did you need to thaw them overnight first or did you put them straight into the oven frozen?
You did a great job! Not to be a downer, but the top shelf should not be filled to the top. You have to keep your items below the cooling vents in order for your freezer to work properly, otherwise you may burn up the motor. Good video.
I’m so happy for you that you got your new freezer Brooke , and you sure filled it up with some yummy casseroles , they all looked so yummy!! Great job 👏👏👏👏!! ❤️🙏🙋🏻🌈🌈
❤❤❤These recipes look delicious. What a time saver later.
Going to try some of the freezer meals, just on a smaller scale for just two of us
That last chicken casserole looks absolutely delicious. I have got to try that.
I was not a super huge fan of tater tot casserole until a friend of mine had me try hers. She also does not put the veggies in and substitutes a can of cheddar cheese soup for one of the cream of soups. No shredded cheese because of the cheese soup. Then a healthy amount of pepper and that is the filling. So good.
Smart Woman..❤
your videos 😂😂😂... keep positive and posting wonderful content!
Obviously tons of effort put into this video. I’ve never heard of the crescent casserole, anxious to try it. Thank you, Brooke!

Hi Brooke this is Sue, WOW 155 for all that food, here in Canada that would be closer to double.... We not big fans of cassaroles, but the John Wayne and the tater tot ones look good, told hubby and he said we can try them. So yeah there a go, thanks. Only thing is l need to find some room in my stand up freezer,,, l need 2-3 of them, cause l love to bake and put stuff up.. Want to make a few up cause l am having shoulder surgery next week, and l want to make it as easy for hubby as possible since he works all day.. Thanks again,

Please pray for my sweet dad. He and I have always had a close relationship, and I adore him. He is now suffering from lung cancer and has dropped so much weight that he is 6'9 and probably about 100 pounds. He can just barely speak and can barely stand up. My heart aches so 💔 bad!! He needs Jesus. Please remember my dad, Wayne in your prayers
🙏🏻 for Wayne and you
Lord have mercy on Wayne and his family 🙏🏼
Great job Brooke! Everything looked great😊
You knocked it out of the park. I loved the recipes. Thank you. ❤❤❤
