I figured that Rip would get the ranch, especially after Kevin wrote that letter about how he has "plenty" of sons. Remember how Beth read the letter to Rip and he got choked up?
Sad that this piece did not include the entire story. I believe that Kevin Costner was unable to say much about the situation but eventually did explain some of his side of it. He reportedly came back to film the 2nd half of season 5; but reports state that Mr Sheridan had not written any scripts on paper. The long strike of the writers is what threw the season so far behind. In my opinion, Taylor S. has too many irons in the fire with his love of sequels and with Bass Reeves, 1923, Tulsa Kings, Yellowstone, Four 6's, and In the Heart of Texas..and many more projects it stands to reason he can't do the 100% with so much going on. If Costner came back to film, putting his project on hold, and found no scripts, your story is very biased as if this is his fault. It was reported that he gave Taylor a week to put something on paper, then that was later mis-reported that Costner was going to allow only 1 week for all of the fillming of the 2nd half of season 5; which was wildly NOT the case. It seems like every news story is slanted to blame this on Kevin Costner, his years of work and reputation should show that he would not do something like that. These stories are just made to sensationalize the situation. These actors had to wait due to the strike, and some picked up other projects to keep busy and keep making money and i'm sorry but perhaps maybe Mr Sheridan has too many projects? You can't blame Costner for this long delay, the strike and the divided attention of the main guy, (Taylor) is what is causing the 2nd half not to be done, in my opinion based on ALL the reports I have seen. I said what I said.
Sheridan overextended himself with all these announced projects and spinoffs. He needed to train trusted people who could fulfill his vision but run the shows.

everyone remember if Taylor had scripts written as due none of this would have happened . it would have already been filmed & aired & probably continue on for the 7 years with Costner> Sheraton put off Yellowstone for his spin offs & failed to deliver scripts for filming which fucked the Yellowstone actors & fans

Taylor is a wuss, that's the nicest way I can say anything about him. He doesn't know how much Kevin is loved by his fans. Taylor will NEVER be the actor Kevin is. It's sad that he can't see what's right in front of him. Too bad, he had a good thing going with Yellowstone.

Costner only wanted to do 3 seasons originally because of other projects, COVID messed things up or this season would have been finished with him .

The first half of Season 5 ended with John getting Impeached as Governor. The Montana Congress voted to Impeach. Rainwater was about to be replaced as Tribal Chairman of the Confederated Tribes Broken Rock.
John will either have a medical death/heart attack or possibly die in an accident. All we will see is a Coffin. This will leave Kacey in charge of the Ranch. Kacey will either put the Ranch in Tate’s name, and/or give Rainwater possession of the Ranch. This will keep Rainwater as Chairman because he will finally have the Ranch, and the promise of giving the Ranch back to the Native people will be fulfilled from the series 1883. Kacey & Monica, plus Rip & Beth will have been allowed to have small Ranches somewhere on the land. That’s how I would write the ending…
He has an X-Wife who thinks he's made of money & wants to live, not within her means, but with what Kevin has or what they thought he was going to be paid!

It’s always been on the table that the character of John Dutton could die. Heck, it happens to us all, so I just look forward to the final episodes. Leavin us wanting more or something different was always a given.
I heard an interview with Kevin Costner I can't remember from what show but it was awesome he talked about horizon and his family and everything about Yellowstone it was really good I'm sure you can Google it. It was on the radio yesterday. No offense but I think Taylor is a little bit of an egomaniac

If they kill JD I feel it has to be linked to the train station or his shutting out the investment bankers. Assassination of the Governor might sell. Maybe someone who ended up at the train station had family, who knows. I find it really hard to bypass Jamie's threat and Beth finding out. I always thought Jamie had to end up dead because he's the one who made the threat and that alone means he had to be silenced. Hey, it's complicated. 😊

Maybe if Sheridan could have followed through on getting scripts written in a timely manner it wouldn’t have blown up in his face. He knew Costner had other obligations and movies in the works. This show WAS sheridans bread& butter. He now has to stand on his own and can’t ride other peoples coattails!! The only show that might have come in maybe close, was 1883 and when Sam Elliott died that was all she wrote for that show, the rest you could toss in a bag, pull one out they’re all the same - lukewarm at best!
Evil Sarah needs gone - and Jamie needs to realize his stupidity in letting her arrange a hit on beth... and I'm thinking thev"accidental hit" on beth goes awry and gets John instead. Any other scenario won't make sense for John to be killed off.

This is the end of Yellowstone. It was a very good movie. I loved it but no Kevin number Yellowstone sorry I can’t wait to see the second half of season five but that’s the end of it for me at the end of Yellowstone. Good luck.😢😢😢
