    I suspect when the F-4E phantom releases this month a lot of players will be flying it, so I'm excited to see if I'll be able to get my friends into larger flights like a 4 man flight instead of the usual "Only 2 of us are on, let's do a flight of 2". These communication videos are huge for helping learn how to keep the chaos of multiple people in a single group somewhat organized.

    communications has always been one of my weaknesses in air combat, hopefully thisll help me get a bit better at it. of course this also means ill have to train my wingmen to actually pay attention to more than just a fox code, but thatll come later.

      You are absolutely correct that it isn't easy. But it does get better with practice.

    This is great. Could you also cover ATC / GCI comms as well, sometime? I have not been able to find really ... cohesive documentation on this (and likely others).
    Also, awesome video on Air Tasking Orders. Hits close to home : )
    Always recommend your stuff to friends for learning

      ATC and GCI are both really in depth. I have linked the TTP used by GCIs in the description. And I recommend checking out my Air Supremacy series to see how its used in practice. It's spread over several videos though so it'll take some time to get through.

    Another great video! You really keep pushing these out. Keep it up! Some small criticism: In my experience most sim players have an idea of what targeting and sorting is but they dont have a clear understanding of the difference. So it would have been good to delineate visually that sorting is really only within the group and recollect what a group is.

    🌟I really appreciate your videos Mike @TheOpsCenterByMikeSolyom, especially around comms. I'm a civilian pilot and covering the military for decades and it still sounds like Klingon every once in a while. You've been a very helpful translator. I may even start playing DCS.

    • @TheOpsCenterByMikeSolyom
      @TheOpsCenterByMikeSolyom  Před 4 měsíci

      It's funny that you mention that. When I watch ATC videos I wonder how anyone understands that stuff. But I guess if you fly in and out of the same airport regularly you come to expect what's coming next.

      @@TheOpsCenterByMikeSolyom Oh yea! Especially the landmarks, taxiways, fuel pit, etc. Surely it is Greek to visitors but with the electronic flight bag-type tools the kids have these days that can follow you even on the ground all of that has even become less difficult. The brevity PDF you've mentioned has been a big help for me on the mil side as well.

    Awesome video! I think it would be really cool if you teamed up with Reflected Simulations or Baltic Dragon to make a realistic training campaign that allows players to practice these concepts!

    Outstanding series of videos, I do controlling in the real world so this has been great at visually explaining BVR tactics, techniques, and procedures to the DCS group I run with. Additionally breaking down the comms associated with sorting, targeting, and shot calls.

    What is the good call to indicate enemy missile launch? Simply "missile launch", with maybe bullseye or other amplifying informations?

  • @ColonelAkirNakesh

    Great stuff as always! Do you play much single player and do you have any luck getting the AI wingman to attack what you want?

    • @TheOpsCenterByMikeSolyom
      @TheOpsCenterByMikeSolyom  Před 4 měsíci

      I do a good amount of single player and no, the AI can be frustrating a lot. In BVR I've had occasions where one or two wingmen just won't engage the enemy.
      BVR is best done with human wingmen.

    So for the fox codes, when you fire at a single hostile target what do you say, or does it stay like,"eagle1, fox3, west group"

    • @TheOpsCenterByMikeSolyom
      @TheOpsCenterByMikeSolyom  Před 15 dny +1

      Groups are considered a single contact by default unless otherwise specified. So to answer your question: yes its the same.
      I'm planning on doing a dedicated video on the GROUP brevity code in the future to explain this in more detail.

    If you pulled the brevity from that JP you showed, it's out of date. There's a 2023 edition

    • @TheOpsCenterByMikeSolyom
      @TheOpsCenterByMikeSolyom  Před 4 měsíci +2

      When I originally started work on this series the 2020 edition was the only one my viewers could access without a CAC. So I went with that for the graphic. However, I did find the 2023 is available through an official source today so I've linked that in the description.
      The definitions are exactly the same in both editions though so there shouldn't be any confusion.

      @TheOpsCenterByMikeSolyom yeah I was just looking through it 2 days ago, but wasn't sure if there were any significant changes to any preexisting brevity. Just looks like it added in some new ones from what I saw
