- Grill up the perfect seared steak crust.
I'm serving up ALL my tips and tricks and showing you how easy it can be to get a PHENOMENAL crust when you are grilling up steaks. No more will you have to suffer through barely-seared surfaces. This method will get you grilling up a deep crusty sear every time.
GRAB the thermometer I'm using in the video:

WOW!! Outstanding
now that's a proper sear
I used to think that I needed to go to a restaurant for good steak. Over the last couple years I have learned the best steak is usually cooked at home.
Great video! I cook on a gas grill and I'm still learning, but always looking to try and grill the best steak with an amazing crust ❤️
Thanks for the video
Looks really nice!
Wow, that brushing put it over the top. Great job!
I have been watching your recent videos, and I just love them. I went back through your archives and found this one and I noticed that you don't have your Australian accent that is so prominent in your recent videos! What happened? Where you trying to hide it and sound more American? The Australian accent is so lovely.
Wow the color on that steak looks perfect
Perfect
Thankyou
Great video Jess! #steakgoals right there...
Bless
That pk though! 😍
About how many seconds did you leave it on the 2nd sear/butter bath?
Sounds like a great way to add some more flavor to the steak, especially if you add some herbs and spices to the butter. Like garlic...
perfection kills excellence :)
PinkPonyOfPrey and ur point is?
Beautiful! What kind of butter do you use? Thanks!
Perfection, I just added Ribeye steak to my Costco list - lol !!! I love doing that on my rack of lamb also - less the butter though, there is a enough fat on the lamb
I’m a big fan of KerryGold butter for basting steaks. You have any preference or thoughts on what type of butter is best @jesspryles??
I’ve searched my whole life for this moment!
Little tip, make sure to use unsalted butter. I had a ribeye steak with kosher salt like her, and since I added salted butter, I found the steak too salty
So, sear roasting, yeah? My favorite.
Hi Jess,
I tried the JKF on my steak last night. I used steak about 1” thick rubbed with HC black. Cooked on a super hot Weber kettle. Flipped every 30secs.
I did not get a great crust and overcooked it. Total cool time was about 4 mins ended up at 60degrees.
Any pointers, to help getting the crust without overcooking it?
Yes, just make sure to use a meat thermometer. That way the internal temperature will never get over the desired amount and your steak will be perfect every time.
kosher salt?? can i use halal or normal salt?
any seasoning before you cook
... is that one tablespoon of butter per steak?
I like the sear I get on a grillgrate griddle side. #JKF
What grill are you using?
I wish Jess never lost the Aussie accent
Excellent cut of meat. Perfectly cooked.
Where did your Australian accent go?
Yeah I was wondering the same.
Fenomenal se ve muy blandita
That kinda cooking would definitely spoil man lol
Why is your new videos with an Australian accent?! Which is the real accent 🤔
This woman did a whole video and didnt cut the damn steak 😂😐
If the accent is gone I can move on.
The constant flip during the crust stage is not ideal- you want all the fat and juice to drip to the bottom where it meets the flames/heat and has a magical reaction that turns into flavor.
Flipping often is actually used for cooking your steak through while minimizing crust formation- the exact opposite of what you want here. That’s why your steak came out grey and medium instead of medium rare.
