Nailed it. If you want to "Write a U2 song," I'd select their sound in Unforgettable Fire or Joshua Tree -albums that iconic sound is what they are known for. U2 songs are bass driven with The Edge playing echo/reverb guitar in high notes and Bono singing breathy social justice lyrics.
