CAMPING IN THE UPPER UP (MICHIGAN): We camped in October!

- We went camping in chilly October in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. We have been wanting to hike in the U.P. for quite awhile now, so we're happy to have finally checked it off our list. We stayed at Straits State Park. Something we didn't realize was that the state parks were closing as soon as we left! We had the campground basically to ourselves! Hardly anyone was there. So, I would recommend camping in early October to have access to the restrooms and showers. We saw some amazing waterfalls and all the colors were out of this world! So beautiful! We hiked to the Tahquamenon Falls, Wagner Falls, and Pictured Rock. I would highly recommend going in the fall. The night temperature was in the 40s and the day temperature was in the high 50s and low 60s. We actually had a day in the 70s when we were there!

It was so beautiful! It was definitely the time to go. Although, many places were already closed for the winter! Hard to believe!

What a fun family time. I love your camping adventure. If you ever want to immerse yourself into everything about Abraham Lincoln, take a trip to Springfield, IL…there’s lots to see and do here. My wife and I would be glad to host you if you bring your camper. We have 30amp RV electric, water and sewer hookup at our home.
