- Today I start in the Jomtien area of Pattaya and visit a Lady that has an apartment for rent which is right on Jomtien Beach. The apartment is 5000 baht per month or about $150.00 US and is located on a quiet street only a block from the beach. We then visit one of my favorite eateries before taking a quick look at the new PCX160. Enjoy the Ride!

That's the ideal price range for me if I was visiting Thailand for a 3-month stay. That way, I can use the location as home base while I move around the region to determine if and where I wanna permanently relocate. With the savings I managed there, I can travel around more freely and effortlessly. Nice work. Thanks for the effort, Lucas.
Totally agree
@@Rides4Kickz wondering ..How much ..deposit / hold money / Bond ..she wonted ... Ex girlfriend used to live in Jomtien because it was more affordable, and a little bit more laid back then pattaya, nice work Lucas!
Yes definitely more laid back
I consider Central Pattaya as the "short-term" vacation place to stay that never sleeps. Jomtien or "The Dark Side" is the "long-term" places to live. Cheaper, quieter, and definitely more laid back.
The Sarita is where I stayed at my 2nd trip to Thailand back in 2007. We would grab a baht bus and head to Pattaya each time, but knowing nothing, we'd ask the baht bus driver how much was it to get to Pattaya..."200 baht" or "300baht" they'd tell us. We'd negotiate down to 100baht and thought we were such amazing travelers. Then one random time, a French guy saw us do the negotiation and told us its 10baht. We still laugh about that one. Nothing like being a total noob and getting taken for a ride. Sometimes ya gotta learn things the hard way 555
haha, great story, quite literally taken for a ride 👍
Did same from walking street to jontiam 450 baht said to driver seemed expensive he said it’s a long way ha ha
200 > 300 Bht ------You pay for personal service - Free beer for the whole journey NOT
I really enjoy watching your videos, there's always a variety of informative content that gives us a really good ideas what to expect if someone go there, & you have a wide range of english vocabulary I enjoy to listen to.
Right on sir👍
Glad you like them!
My wife and I lived in Soi 12, PK Villas for 2 years it was fantastic. True value for money
Nice 👍
Good info bud.keep it rolling thanks
Hi Lucas, I’ve been watching your videos for about 6 months, fantastic variety and so well put together 👍🏻 keep them up through your thai lockdown, everyone overseas must really appreciate them like I do! I’ll buy you a few beers in the accienda bar when I get over there to say thanks for all the content 😀👍🏻
Great, thanks 👍
Thankss for another great share and video! BEST part for me was your breakfast burrito, looked great! All the BEST to you and CHeers! :)
Thank you! You too!
Awesome deal. Thanks for the information
Nice place for the money. The PCX 160 looks good, I can see one in my future Thanks for your work on getting the info
No problem 👍
We enjoyed your video as always. Be safe and I hope doesn’t get worse in Thailand more what it’s now .
Wow that apartment is crazy cheap but of course there is no kitchen. That was one hell of a burrito you had there!!! Thanks again. Stay safe. From the US
great video.... For the practical minded to take the time to explore and find more permanent options.... Thanks also for the good motorcycle touring.... looking forward to that when its a good time to finally travel there.... thanks
My pleasure!
Your channel is quickly becoming my favorite. I was highly recommended the Jomtien area. That Mexican restaurant had a Danish flag in front. 'Like' all your videos and already a subscriber.
Awesome thank you!
Heading that way soon...thanks for sharing.
Any time! Safe travels 👍
Thanks for your very pleasant videos. So much doom and gloom now. Maybe next year for me.
Another great video Lucas.
Glad you enjoyed it
Looks lovely area very reasonable great video as usual keep it up 👍
I just bought the Honda ADV, it's great. No problems going through flooded streets on this thing.
Interesting as always. 👍
That's some great value right there. Nice to see the very low budget options
Agreed!
i Order from 3B's too on Grab, the first time I ordered from them they gave me a second quesedilla for free, and since I've been a returning customer. Their chicken nachos are terrific too.
Didn't know they did Grab, I always use Hungry Now, but I believe their biggest delivery service is actually Food Panda.
Another great report. I have not stayed in Jomtien however will give it a good look when I can get their. The price is low compared to condos in central Patts. Good for a stay of 3 months.
That food looks fabulous! I live in San Diego, right across the border from TJ and that looks authentic.
Rented a condo at Jomtien last trip right up the street from the night market was really a nice location.
Very nice!
Another great video… 👍👍
Thank you! Cheers!
Yikes. That burrito with the trimmings looks fantastic.
Pattaya--Apartments und 🏍️ Motorräder Top Wieder ein gutes Video und Unterhaltung 👍👍👍 Gruß Achim 🇩🇪🙏🙏
👍👍👍🙏🙏
Good vlog...
Jomtien will probably be my choice of destination for my retirement at some point in the future... 👍
lot better location stay retiree go north thailand lot better live
great to see very basic accommodation that a lot of people can afford and add their on personal touches. you can use this accom as a base if you want to find other accom and not break the bank. thanks more of this type of accommodation please, thanks
Yes, many at this price but I think the location makes it special 👍
Bit too quiet for me JomTien but it's a nice area remember renting a big villa there once for a few days big place great party there and had its own private beach pretty much wasn't expensive at all.
Hey your friends place looked very good value what's that £120 a month maybe £150 with utilities that's very inexpensive for a location so close to the beach if your looking for a place to use as a base then do a few nights away too. Might work.
Good info as always R4K thumbs up from UK 🇬🇧👍🏻
I had food from 3Bz last February when I was in Pattaya and it was so much better than I was expecting for Mexican food in Thailand.
Yes, it's legit 👍
More great info Lucas. For the budget traveler seems perfect. Maybe you should start a second channel for us Cheap Charlies?
You could call it, Ridez 4 Spare Change ;)
haha, good one.
Thanks Lucas. Please continue to keep us abreast of all the various accommodations in Jomtien. After traveling to Thailand the past 6 years I believe Jomtien is the best value and with the new SRT connecting Pattaya to Bangkok providing more travel options. Curious, are there good digital co-working spaces in Pattaya and Jomtien; I know the digital nomad scene is big in Chiang Mai .
Sure thing!
Great video good night and best greetings from Korat.👍.
Thanks 🙏
@@Rides4Kickz your welcome wish you a great start in the new week
Thanks for the video. Hoping you might have time to discuss the impact on the occupancy rates and what that means to quality of life in the big condos you have visited when the hoard of tourists return. Which ones will be affected the most, in your opinion.
5,000 is good for that room. I often think about renting one like that out for a year and make it my holiday "home". But, 4th floor, no lift and can't roll my motorcycle inside when I'm away is a non starter for me. Those PCX and Forza's are beautiful but just too big to be riding around town IMO. If you have to cruise some distance daily...good choices. I'll Take one of those used Honda MSX in the background and put a 57mm (simple) to 62mm (more complex) bore kit on it and make it a hot little number to buzz around town with. Thanks again for an entertaining and informative Vid R4K.
haha, that would be cool. The MSX, a tad small for me though 🤣
Looks a great deal for a month or two say. Nice work 👍🍻
Thanks 👍
Very informative
Glad you liked it
Very nice
I like that. Cook out the back, it's quiet and a proper sofa, as opposed to garden furniture.
4:45 Five baht. The actual government rate for the electricity.
6:00 Induction plate (1500 baht) and a rice cooker and you're sorted.
Yes, very close, within one baht, most guest houses charge 8 baht per unit.
Nice information, 😁👍
Thanks 👍
Great video
Glad you enjoyed it
This was kinda on the same level of what I kinda had. Except, my place was close to the train station. I had a large studio size apartment with 3 other rooms. My rent was $165.00 and one room was for my washing machine and refrigerator and then a other room for storage.
Great place for the price !
Great vlog, R4K, you seem to never run out of interesting topics. Jomtien is defo an option for me when I retire in 10-12 years. If the world stays the same as pre covid that is of course.
Lets hope it's all back to normal by then, There will probably be many more options even by that time 👍
@@Rides4Kickz i really hope so, Jomtien looks like a retirement paradise to me.
great video
Glad you enjoyed it
Every time I visit Pattaya I stay within 3 blocks south of Soi Welcome and 3 minutes from the beach-It's far more relaxing than Pattaya
Breakfast burrito looked awesome! But can I find a nice Thai lady wearing a sombrero?
Oh yes!
HI, IT LOOKS NICE AND CHEAP AND CLOSE TO THE BEACH. "BURRITOZ" MUSIC JJJJ OLÉ¡¡¡¡ BEST REGARDS FROM CATALONIA-SPAIN. KEEP SAFE AND TAKE CARE
Thank you! You too!
as soon covid is finish i am going to stay in pattaya for monts
@13:18 cleaver way to look at the products, impressive. Excellent calculation.
I'm moving to thailand just for that BURRITO! Hope flights open up by nov
I must really like BURRITOS🤓🌯
That must be a very special deal you only get during the pandemic, right?! (Normalt pre and post-pandemic going to be twice that I imagine, right?!) Would love t live in that particular type of area. Seems really nice. (Using my own bike when I stay six months at a time.) If these prices are close to the real ones when we get to the post-pandemic reality I game for sure. 👍
Hmmmm ... Mexican!
Love hard shell tacos!
My fav!
Yeah, never tried the tacos there yet because the burritos are so good, but think I'll have a go at them next time.
I find Jomtien quite relaxed and a good long-term vibe. If going to Central by baht bus say five times a week at 20b, that'll add up. Furniture is uninspiring and needs a wardrobe. Big size though. Landlady seems very decent and no gouging utilities.
Jomtien feels like a small-laid back holiday resort where Pattaya feels like a big city with a lot of hustle and bustle. I prefer to stay at Jomtien even if i'm there for Pattaya's nightlife. It's only 10 min.- 10 Baht ride away 😃
Great place for the money.
I still like my Yamaha Aerox 155 best in the 125-160 class.
Not only do you try to help a local Thai out you pinpoint where her Guesthouse is. Fantastic mate👍 ,Long term for people on a Budget must help if their pension has gone tits up ,and theres many of them i hear 🤦♂️
Thanks Geno 👍
yep Ausies are suffering, if they are out the Country (aus) for more than 6 months (I believe) then their pension is halved, they need to go back in and do paperwork which due to ghe "situation" was not possible
@@paulhart8814 I never understood about these pension restrictions. It is the pensionares money.
@@robertburnett5561 yep, but same here in uk we work all our liuves pay in and get told now not 60 but 65 sorry now 67 maybe 70, and for £600 a month, as they have spent all the pension money well apart from their own MP's pension money is ok and if we move abroad we get no raises with inflation like those in Uk would it's a rip off had the same money been in a private pension, would have a £35,000 pay out and £6,000 a month
Man! For the price whats not to like?
👊👍👊
I always found Jomtien Beach to be a little more mature than Pattaya...which is probably why I didn’t go there often 😊
Thank you so much mate.. 5000 bt per month goo value
Great 👍
Thanks for your good job. It would be appreciate if u could show some small family house a little bit outside city. Even if already here is "better"than Pattaya. BTW for the condos now what s tbe usual term you have to sign for tbe rent? 1 year? Or can you do 6 months? Thanks again Nice and cheap condo. Tv and others can buy or already got so...no need fully furnished. God Bless
I mis going on holiday there. Just being there, i feel good. I usually,ly do 10 day holidays. Rather go to jomtien. Lessbusy. Great deals ever´ywhere😀
5000bht per month is cool price for that much room. 👍
Yes for sure
It would be great if you could include internet access options in all of your future apartment reviews. If it is free... run a speed test from an app on your phone so we understand if it would work for our needs. I.e I personally need high bandwidth. Others may not.
Yes, right you are sir, forgot to ask her about that.
@@Rides4Kickz I also could not see if the shower has hot water or not. You didn't show the shower head in bathroom. Btw.. I appreciate all you do. ❤
@@DavidWhitt Most water tanks are up on the roof in the hot sun. Water usually comes out very warm from the cold tap. A hot shower in a tropical country is an acquired taste tbh. Most guest houses in this price range don't have hot water on tap.
@@chriscross9505 unfortunately for me I have grown accustomed to very very hot showers. My acquired tastes are coming with me... 😆
@@DavidWhitt OK but you will be sweating like a punter who can't pay his bar fine in a Thai Go-Go Bar for about an hour after your shower 😂 especially if you go out on the street after your shower. As someone who loves a scorching hot bath when I return to my native (usually cold) country but has lived in S.E. Asia for 25 years all I can say is you have to live here to appreciate that. However, as I pointed out b4 usually hot water is usually offered at a higher price point than the guesthouse here.
love the property vlogs
Surprised honda would mess up the abs on that fancy scoot.
I'm thinking user error.
Beware of the price of electricity which is often greatly increased by building managers. Multiplied by three or more is common.
I thought everything was CHEAPER in THAILAND, I can get cheaper MEXICAN food just about anywhere here in SOUTHERN CAL😕 $10 for Mexican fries???😲 Also the SALSA and sour cream usually goes inside the BURRITO🤭 I'm surprised U didn't mention those HIGH prices, or maybe those prices are common there when it comes to NON-THAI food🤔
The last time I stayed in Jomtien I was walking up and down the promenade for exercise and stepped over a dog which was in my way and it bit me on the backside luckily it didn't break the skin as I was wearing a thick pair of shorts they were the days I hope they come back soon.
Ouch 😮
For that we Germans wear Laethertrousers !👋😊👍🍻🍻🍻 🐺
Another great eps. thank you. My parol officer says I should really make new friends, so can't wait to meet you in person one day
Right on!
Good value option, that couch will hide any stains.....
What was the issue with the ABS model ? Looking at changing my 2013 PCX 150 for a newbie
Hey Loucous, just came across this. I remember when you stopped in, but completely forgot about it until someone just sent me the link. That already seems like a million years ago lol
I search for that room ..in late 2019....could not find...maybe as you point out STREET 12 is 1 over...Why dont all Asian cities correct the Street and numbers ..would make life so much easy ...Thanks for showing me that ..Wonder how many rooms she has ..and is next door rates are the same ..cheers ..mate
Nice if your just staying couple months too live u can get a nice condo $500 American long stay!
planning on either moving to jomtien or the dark side, still deciding
You could almost confuse the two, he and jc retirecheap asia, they kind of look the same, speak passable thai, and went looking for a rental in jomtiem except 9 years ago for jc. Trying to retrace my steps looking for jc is how I found Lucas.
It would be good for you to do a show on Internet. I work online and need high speed quality internet. would be good if you did a review of the different internet offered for condos or apartments.
I'm thinking about moving to thailand and I'm curious to the quality and the cost of internet services.
Yes but it depends, not all the services are available everywhere. Most condo buildings only allow one service provider for the building so you often don't have a real choice.
i wonder which is better, a 350 honda scoot or one of their automatic motos
I have had several women show me their Jomtien.....except they called it something different!
I have seen Arcadia Beach resort for 4500 recently.
Glad I can get food from home aka: Texas
Even when the prices creep back upwards for the condos/apartments, I'd rather pay a little extra for the creature comforts.
It looks good for a short term stay I guess, since you'll either be "sleeping" or out for your whole trip. But then again, I guess you would want to be closer to the action for that trip.
No way that I would stay there for a few months.
And judging by the look on Lucas' face while looking for the positives, I doubt he would ever consider such a room also lol
I totally agree!
Agreed. Living in that place would be worse than being homeless on the beach!
Lovely beaches in Pattaya and Jomtien but why do we rarely see anyone swimming in the ocean?
Hey Lucas, love your channel...so many people open to your stories. Looking to open my own CZcams channel, can we please organize to touch base with you for the first few videos? I can see so many people have opened up to you...can you meet with us....?
request : dirt cheap slum apartments to rent in Pattaya
thank you
haha, many availalbe.
That will be my retirement area .
I love Jomtien, no motorbike parking included for 5K Baht I reckon...
The water there at the beach...is it polluted ?
I never see anyone swimming
jotiem definitely seems better for quiter stay ... barrito looks better than the one from chipotle! is tipping expected in "normal" restaurants ? If so, what % should it be ? how about he " fancier" restaurants?
Yeah, tipping is probably expected at western restaurants which foreigners frequent. But it is usually just the coins left in the change, maybe about 20 baht. Not really a percentage like in other places.
When travel will be possible again, I plan on taking a long trip. With all the unused vacation days and overtime... I'm thinking about 1 month in Thailand. What would you recommend? Staying in a Hotel or renting a condo for a month (Airbnb?!?)
I would definitely go for hotel. I think you'll find the daily maid service with clean towels etc., a great benefit. They also will have nice amenities like pools, sauna etc. After all, you are on vacation, you shouldn't have to worry about details. Also more flexibility if you want to move to a different place, you will most definitely see some place that looks interesting that you may want to try out.
Do they have a limitation on the size of a motorcycle engine, I see alot of 150-250cc motorcycles but nothing bigger.
Hey, does anyone know if the baht bus up as far the Sands condo block, if not, other than scooter or taxi, how do most people get to Jomtien beach from there?
How did you learn that much Thai in a relatively short time?
Is it possible to take motorcycle riding lessons in the Pattaya area? If so, could you recommend any companies who provide that training please
I lived on pratumnak 5 i believe. Great area in pattaya. The jomtien night market (russian market) was my favorite. I have a friend who can get long term deals in jomtien for 6-12 month leases.
The beaches, the night market, being 5 minute scooter ride from the northwest entry of walking street. Amazing location. Great restaurants on jomtien hill too. But honestly i would just go to bali hai hookah club
Of course for all i know, all the jomtien restaurants on the hill are shut down and the night market is shut down. No idea.
Sounds great!
@@Rides4Kickz hopefully still in pattaya once i come back. Is the restaurant on the pier still active? The one coming into walking street from the eastern side, right off the corner. Forgot the name. the one ran by the British bloke
@@bobcostas6272 Beer Garden ?
Hey Lucas, prices are great now and I could easily afford the rent, but what were the rents pre-covid? No point moving to Pattaya if i cannot afford to live there in normal times...
When was this filmed ??? please correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't there NO DINNING in restaurants at present. T/A only.
