🇺🇸 Did you know a oil manufacturer can call a lubricant a Full Synthetic when it's only 25% synthetic? AMSOIL is different because it is 100% Synthetic and has a higher film strength keeping the metal parts separated. AMSOIL allows less friction, less heat, less wear on the component. T4 non synthetic is the best. It doesn't leak past piston rings and prematurely destroy catalytic converter or clog up fuel injectors in GDI engine. This is the biggest killer for car driving stop/go in the city. Car manufacturers recommended owners to use synthetic oil due to EPA regulation. It has nothing to do with the oil quality or vvti.

  • @olhesty2196
    @olhesty2196 Před rokem +12

I originally used Rotella T6, but supply shortages forced me to use something different. I went with Amsoil. If one were to consider price of oil AND cost of repair…it makes absolutely no sense to cheap out on oil. I ran stock Motorcraft oil that came in my F350 for the first 1000 miles, changed to Rotella T6 for 15K miles (3 oil changes) for somewhat of a new engine break in period. Now running Amsoil Signature for the remainder of the engine’s life.

Amsoil makes oil that flows at even better temperatures also it is 100% synthetic which has a lot better film strength.
What you saw in that video was what came out of the bottle meaning that oil may not be the published viscosity that was on the bottle unless we did oil analysis we wouldn't know.
But we did show the seal broken and you saw what everything looked like at that temperature.
If you are looking for a good cold flow oil I highly recommend the zero w40 max duty diesel signature series.

Although on one hand it's embarrassing that the 100% synthetic Amsoil got beat by a conventional oil costing several times less, in my opinion it doesn't really matter because no one sane would use a 15W40 oil in that kind of cold anyways, a 0W40 would be a much better choice. I suspect that since 15W40 clearly isn't a cold weather oil, Amsoil probably knowingly gave up some cold weather flow for better high temp protection.

I can honestly say I used to run Rotella 1540 in my highway tractor and I did sample it I do have the sample results that oil is dead at 35,000k in a Peterbilt 379 with a c15 cat. I don't know what it's like in other trucks this is from my own personal truck with a bypass system. Now the Amsoil the same bypass system changing the primary filter every 25,000 km I have run my oil up to 94,000 km with no problems and it's still sampled good. I ran signature 1540 Amsoil exactly what's tested in this video.

Yeah definitely a big difference between a 100% synthetic and a full synthetic which a oil manufacturer can call a full synthetic full synthetic when it's only 25% synthetic.
One oil you might want to try is the 10w30 Max Duty diesel Signature Series I have a good friend on the channel that runs it in his 18-wheeler and he did 80,000 miles in the oil was still good and he likes it better than the 15W40 because he gets better fuel mileage and now I've had a couple different guys start running it and that's become their favorite lubricant it also has very low wear Metals which means it still has a tremendous film strength.

Amsoil has the highest value motor oil in the business because of its extended renewable capabilities you can go two to six times longer per oil change and you have less downtime you have a lot of time saved valuable time also your equipment will last exponentially longer because of the film that separates the metal is 100% synthetic that has a higher film strength less heat less vibration.
When you look at it from that perspective even if Amsoil cost $100 a quart it is still a better value.

The amsoil is specifically designed for super high film strength in high temperature conditions so in order to keep that property they have to put less cold flow additives because the base stock can only hold so much additives so they add more anti-war additives in high temperatures.
It would be interesting to see the way these oils would thicken over an oil change interval on a 18-wheeler.
I think the amsoil would thicken at about half the rate.

Not only does the cold bite up there but the salt will eat your vehicle alive before the driveline is worn out! Some said it was crazy for driving south to buy used vehicles but you will never find a truck with 100000 miles on it in Pennsylvania that's not way past due for a one way trip to the scrap yard! I’m not certain 100 percent synthetic is a good thing for motor oil- comparing it to juice is apples and oranges imo. A little carbon helps seal the pistons etc I have ZERO BURN OFF with my Castrol Edge Professional from the Land Rover dealership in my Lexus and it runs smoother quieter than the Penzoil Ultra Platinum that I’ve tried. I’ll try the signature series next which is the same price as the Edge Pro per quart- see what happens. I’m not biased so if I thinks it’s better or worse I’ll say…

As far as carbon is concerned you want to keep that out of your Pistons as carbon builds up on the valves and piston rings you lose compression you have blow by and more fuel dilution into your motor oil as the motor oil breaks down it exponentially happens more until you have thickening of the oil so definitely great to try the pi performance on your vehicle👍

I don't understand this test. The other types of oil are certainly no worse because they meet certain standards. If you drive constantly in arctic regions, then you should go to another viscosity class that the vehicle manufacturer specifies, or retrofit a preheating system (Webasto) for your engine.

    • @Syntheticoilprotection
      @Syntheticoilprotection  Před 2 lety

Great question Dennis up to 80% of the wear on a motor can occur during the cold start The faster the oil circulates under cold conditions It will not starve the motor of circulation of oil flow This keeps the metal part separated when the metal parts are separated There is less friction less heat less wear This will allow the motor to last longer and run stronger This testing will show you the big difference of how AMS oil is different than other motor oils.
It's 100% synthetic creates a much higher film strength under high heat also they have very high quality cold flow additives so most of their oils are great in extremely cold temperatures plus the oil clings to the metal better which has a better film strength.

Cold flow test is a bit myopic. There are many other factors that are in play when you start looking at the additives and how they protect surfaces from wear and contaminants. Both those lubricants are very good but to definitively analyze which one is “best”, you need to study engine wear over a period of time and working conditions in a controlled setting between oils to really know which one is “best”. If you’re concerned about cold flow, use a block heater. Both lubricants will benefit.

Eben, i understand that this is strictly a cold flow test. Shell clearly wins this one looking at no other qualities of the oil. However Amsoil focuses on overall protection which to me means the overall protection, longevity and cleanliness of an engine after several hundred thousand miles. Its easy to win in a cold flow test by simply making a slightly thinner oil. But will that same thinner oil pass an extremely high heat test with no burn off right after the cold flow test? Will it retain its film strength and protect vital engine parts after that? Thats where i am confident amsoil stands out amongst the rest and their total base number proves the longer drain interval on top of all those qualities. So dont worry too much about cold flow because its about the overall protection of an engine. Btw.....amazing channel and keep up all the good work you do!👍👍

It's a lot of fun to see exactly what's in the bottles and the way the manufacturers mix the lubricants.
Like you said as far as high heat film strength there's probably no comparison.

The way its manufactured is a lot closer to the way plastics are manufactured than the way crude oil is refined. There is nothing natural about Amsoil as it doesnt come from the ground......it is 100% designed in a lab. And so theres just no getting around that because you can only refine oil up to a limit.

Always better being prepared especially with diesel fuel and all other fluids.
Up to 80% of the wear on a component can occur during the cold start or the cold flow especially with differentials because they can be starved of lubricant when it's very cold the gear lube can actually freeze as well.

I ride in Pahrump so a couple hot days now and then lol. Also the $15.00 or so price tag on the Rotella gallon vs the $10 a quart price on most motorcycle oils is a plus as well.

I was just like you back when I went to SEMA about 5 years ago I learned about AMS oil and I said well I'll give it a try.
5 years later I've never used anything else.
It's something you can feel right away.
One of the biggest differences you'll notice when you do an engine flush and use the PI performance improver fuel additive you'll notice your car is a lot quieter and you'll notice a big difference in fuel mileage and smoother operation.
The higher RPM will be a lot smoother you'll have less pinging less knocking.
Definitely something that's worth a try and that way you would see the difference in say to yourself it's worth it or you might say oh I'll stick with what I use now but I've never had anyone triumph oil and go back to their other oil.
And I've had over a thousand personal customers.

Awesome yes the actual link here will give you the cold flow ability under technical bulletin you'll see highlighted Blue Link when you click on it and see the product description you would definitely want to run the 0w-40 amp oil the difference is the additive package quality it doesn't break down and oxidize like the other lubricants that are called full synthetic a oil manufacturer can call a full synthetic full synthetic when it's only 25% synthetic or more Amsoil is 100% synthetic and it doesn't burn and break down like the other lubricants this will give you the cold flow temperature.

Correct there's a lot of things that come into play on this possibilities are they overcompensate with more cold flow additive packages after the lubricant oxidizes it may thicken exponentially so definitely something to consider also this particular batch could be a improper mix so we'll just never know but that's what came out of each bottle and that's what I wanted to show the real world of what's in each package.
