  • This is a Hohner one row accordion that I altered to have a somewhat classic Cajun sound. Total of 10 hours of work. It's getting easier, even with these hard to work on, standing reed blocks

Peer, you are most observant! Yeah, my dad and I decided a couple years ago to add that Bminor (in this case of the D accordion), for a little different flavor. Kudos for noticing that!

The HA114 comes "tempered" tuning. Flatting the C's and F's is "just" tuning.
It doesn't take a "Louisiana accordion builder" to replace springs. Anyone can do it.
I have been playing Hohners since 95, never broken a spring. I can't say that of LA made boxes. My preference is Castagnari, but I like the HA114. Light fast cheap , can sound great when retuned, plays much better with keyboard padded behind the buttons.
    Excellent playing.

@KMcCurdy6457 It depends on what kind of music you want to play on it. That is Cajun music I'm playing. There are a couple instructional videos to learn, and there are really no teachers of this anywhere except Louisiana.

Wow...just awesome! So I have gotten ahold of a friend of mine's Hohner HA 114 and have never really played an accordion before but would like to learn how to play some songs (Im not really a musician past a few chords on the piano or guitar).
Where can I go to learn how to play this particular instrument since it fell into my lap and I've found it is an excellent piece, or at expensive (in your hands it sound pretty excellent though).

sounds great man! what kind of alterations did the 10 hours of work entail? if you don't mind me asking, of course.

Sorry, I mean Bm chord. Makes it sound a bit like an old time fiddle tune, but then in twostep time, if you know what I mean...
    ...you don't?... oh...well, anyway.. respect!!
Nice way to start and finish too.
