    Keep up the awesome videos! I look forward to purchasing cuttings from you this year! My great grandmother has had a mission type fig for over 50 years and I'm going to grab some cuttings this year. It seems like a very unique fig. Maybe I can send you some cuttings.

    I see you grow figs in pots. Do you bring them in during the winter?

    hi! can I perhaps snag pruning leftovers from you? I'm just getting in to cloning trees after moving to seattle and discovering that figs are the absolute best fruit in the world

    Ben,
    I’ve read that the Olympian will hold figs overwinter that didn’t ripen in the fall and will eventually ripen the next summer.
    I’ve found that my really small figs do end up maturing and ripening (I assume as a breba) but am wondering about leaving the larger unripened figs on the tree to allow them to ripen next summer as well.
    Do you have any experience seeing this happen?

      @BenBSeattle  Před 6 lety

      Those are called holder overs. If you're lucky they will ripen. Most of the time they succumb to weather.

    I fell asleep before your video came on. I freaked out when I heard your baby. PTSD for when my kids were young. It took me awhile to figure out where I left the baby.

    Hi! I'm in Spokane and I just picked up an Olympian and a VDB. Thinking of planting a Florea or Desert King as well. Any recommendations? Think it can survive over here planted against a south-facing wall?

    Hey Ben I have a BIG question for you.... I bought my mom a violet de Bordeaux and at first it was growing the normal hand looking leaves, but now it does look like it's growing healthy but all the leaves have changed from looking like fingered leaves to all looking like oval shaped leaves with no finger indentations on the leaves whatsoever and this has me really confused????..... Have you ever seen this? Any insight would be great because I haven't seen much researching?

    • @hlivang1892
      @hlivang1892 Před 3 lety

      I think that's normal for Violet de bordeaux. I just bought one and all the leaves were oval. However one branch started growing from the bottom and all the leaves have the typical long fingered leaves. So I have one fig tree with two different type of leaves.

    Hey a question, you listed VDB as one of the 5 fig trees you would keep in your garden, but you listed it very low in your scores on your website. Can I ask you why?

    • @BenBSeattle
      @BenBSeattle  Před 6 lety

      DKenUCLA it's a great fig just commonly found in big box stores

    hi ben. in ur opinion in vdb and negrone the same and is the black madira u got from just fruits and exotics the real thing?

    • @BenBSeattle
      @BenBSeattle  Před 7 lety

      The jfe BM hasn't fruited yet but the leaves are very reminiscent of the bm. Compared to my other bms.

      I've done a couple videos on it already. =) This year it was the best it's been. Berry like with great sweetness. I have more detail on my blog seattlegardenfruit.blogspot.com/2017/08/tasting-violette-de-bordeaux-florea.html
