    I'm hearing the red empi polyurethane bushings aren't good for full off road use. Was told there's some white polyurethane bushings that are almost as good as the needle or solid brass bushings. I'm in East TN and we most definitely have some pretty rough trails. I'd say equivalent to the rough rocky trails of the west coast. Anyway I'm wondering if you do much trail riding and if you still own the baja and have the red empi bushings held up. I'm on the fence between any full length polyurethane bushings or using the OEM bushings considering an OEM bushing can last a couple decades

      This bug is slammed to the ground with air shocks. It won’t see much dirt. But honestly after installing the red bushings I wished I went with something else. I have heard that the polyurethane bushings don’t last that long.

    The use of tripods makes your content clearer on the one hand, but on the other, I suggest occasionally backing up so we have any idea where on the vehicle that you're working. It's a mistake I notice on a lot of how to channels.

    Hopefully get a super fast response. I have these bushings and doing a new beam tomorrow. The bushings for the top are too big. Is that the reason for removing the bearings? And they are being left out correct?

    • @OFFAxisBuilds
      @OFFAxisBuilds  Před rokem +1

      Yes that’s exactly why you need to remove the bearings.

    Why did you delete the torsion springs and what coilovers did you choose?

    • @OFFAxisBuilds
      @OFFAxisBuilds  Před 5 lety

      I actually deleted the springs to put my air shocks on. By removing the springs it allows you to be able lower or raise the front without the springs binding. I only did this video to show how to change your front shocks. I am currently running Monroe air shocks in the front. Thanks for watching

      Dude thanks for the link just ordered it! .. another quick question I bought the poly bushing kit today it came with two long bushings like you installed on the driver side, and 4 short bushings do those go in the passenger side? I was expecting 4 long bushings

    • @OFFAxisBuilds
      @OFFAxisBuilds  Před 3 lety +1

      Can you send me a pic. So I may not of shown this. I ordered the long bushings for mine, but I was unable to remove the inner bushing out of the beam so I cut the longer ones down and left the inner bushing in the beam. You may only need the shorter ones if you want to leave the inner bushing in.

    • @OFFAxisBuilds
      @OFFAxisBuilds  Před 3 lety +1

      You will only need 4 bushing total if you are referring to the red polyurethane bushings.

    • @KUTZFRECH
      @KUTZFRECH Před 3 lety +1

      I gotcha I picked up the wrong kit there was 6 bushings total only two long ones I'm returning it and going with the 4 long ones... Thanks alit for you're help and this video I really appreciate it

    Hi great video, just one question, Did you used Lukas red N tacky red grease??

    • @OFFAxisBuilds
      @OFFAxisBuilds  Před 4 lety

      Polyurethane bushing manufacturers advise to never use a petroleum based grease for poly bushing lubrication. Polyurethane should only be lubricated with one specific type of grease to insure long bushing life, and squeak-free performance, Silicone based synthetic water-proof grease.

  • @ericrb76
    @ericrb76 Před 4 lety +1

    Question, can you clarify bearing vs bushing? Did you remove the inner bushings seated in the beam or just the bearing?
    www2.cip1.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=VWC%2D131%2D401%2D313%2DSET

    • @OFFAxisBuilds
      @OFFAxisBuilds  Před 4 lety +1

      ericrb76 Yes a bearing has multiple parts that move with the shaft, but a bushing is a soft piece of metal that usually will allow the shaft to rotate on its own. No I wasn’t able to remove the inner bushings. So I left them in and cut the polyurethane bushing shorter.

    • @ericrb76
      @ericrb76 Před 4 lety +1

      @@OFFAxisBuilds thanks for the clarification! Folks are saying to use a dremel to cut the surface of the bushing, then you can pull them right out. They are too shallow for a puller/hammer slide.

    • @OFFAxisBuilds
      @OFFAxisBuilds  Před 4 lety +1

      ericrb76 that’s exactly the issue I had. I couldn’t get a slide hammer to hold the lip.

  • @sushisnob01
    @sushisnob01 Před 3 lety +1

    Let's say I'm a cheap mofo, how likely could I get the bearings out without the slide hammer?

    • @OFFAxisBuilds
      @OFFAxisBuilds  Před 3 lety +1

      Honestly I don’t think it can be done. Also I think O’Reillys rents them for next to nothing. I think you pay full price for the tool and when you return he took you get your money back.
