  • Şaban Ağa Mosque is a historical mosque open to worship located in the stratonikeia ancient settlement in Yatağan district of Muğla province.
Stratonikeia was also a settlement in the Seljuk and Ottoman periods, and it is estimated that Suleiman the Magnificent prayed during the Rhodes Expedition in 1522 in the mosque of the village. Accordingly, the mosque should be at least five hundred years old. Evliya Çelebi called the mosque of the village as the Tannery Mosque. However, in 1876, the mosque was re -built or re -built. Şaban Ağa is the person who rebuilt the mosque and the mosque is still called his name.
The entrance of the mosque with 14.8 x 14.4 m in size is from the north. The last congregation place is in the form of a porch with wooden ceiling supported by eight wooden columns. The interior of the mosque is illuminated with 16 windows. The mosque was restored in 2018 by the Governor of Muğla.
In the mosque, a single gate is entered into the last congregation area and from there to the Harim section with two winged two winged. To the north is the last community location in the form of a porning with wooden ceiling supported by eight wooden columns. The last congregation is carried with a total of eight wooden poles, one of which is six of three and one in the east and west. The ceiling level of this part of the Harim section reaches the middle of the window on the northern façade and it is understood that this place was added later. Although there is no inscription on the left edge of the Harim gate, whose jambs consist of marble blocks, there is no inscription on it, there is a chest that is said to belong to Şaban Ağa. However, it is known that this grave has been here since the old mosque period. The perfect, which has no samples in most mosques, stands at the top of the Harim gate in the form of a small balcony that protrudes. Hijri 1327, Rumi 1330 (Miladi 1911/1912) is seen with the Shaban Ağa Repair Inscription dated 1293 and the upper belt stone of the entrance placed on the wall in the upper right of the Harim gate. During the excavations in the mosque harim, it was determined that there was a previously central domed single mosque, which was later expanded in the east channel and in the south direction. Depending on all these data, it was understood that a mosque was built in the same period as the bath and probably in the zoning of 1912, the mosque was expanded and expanded to existing dimensions.
