House repaired, mold remediated, freshly painted walls and now floors redone! It's a new house! So happy the original floors were in good enough shape you COULD save them. That's a testament to the previous owners right there. Can't wait to see the house furnished and decorated, it will be a cozy little dollhouse! Many kudos to you and Barry for the beautiful finishing!
I'm excited for them and for the furniture and decorations, and of course Elizabeth's new pretty curtains.

This is what makes the world go round. I can’t stand oak and Elizabeth loves it. Truly Gods gift that we all have our likes and dislikes. You two will enjoy every second you walk around and look at that floor. For me it’s pine or alder. I truly loved looking at my floors. People underestimate what a beautiful floor can make the foundation of your decorating. BILL please take care of that knee. You need to enjoy what time is left. God bless you both.

When we moved to Western Maryland in 1948 (on my first bday) the house had been used for years as a hunting lodge. The floors were pine and in horrible condition - men and muddy boots had done a number on them. My very first memory in life was being in a high chair and looking over my shoulder at Bud Lesher sanding and redoing the floors. Hadn't thought of that in decades so thanks for this vlog, it brought back my first memory.

When the house is empty is certainly the time. It's a lot of work, but they are lovely. I did 3 big rooms in my 30s so I know how much work it is. That was 40 years ago and they still look great! They were 100 years old when I did them.
I've done a few myself, didn't have the proper equipment like shown in this video. We had an old farmhouse with floors of wide boards from virgin fir that was on the property, so I agree with the couple about 'character' being a plus.

I had been in construction most all my life but since moving to another state I got into a different line of work and secured a job in a cabinet shop. It's a big company that does work for places all over the country. I worked on building cabinets for a while and they put me in the chair department for awhile and I liked that better so I asked them if I could stay in that department and they did that for me. I enjoyed that more actually. We built chairs and cabinets for a lot of the big companies such as Applebee's and other places. I resigned from there about a week or so ago since I had started my own company driving for rideshare companies. I bought a small luxury sedan so my customers would be comfortable and I enjoy it thoroughly.
The two colors in that room look great, very fresh looking.

Destin is beautiful, we used to vacation there every year until it became so crowded and the traffic was horrible. We went to the Mexico Beach/Port St. Joe area afterwards. Cape San Blas is gorgeous! Nice State Parks too.

This is timely! I ripped out my over-30-year-old carpet to discover beautiful oak floors, in the same condition as your original. I'm dreading moving myself and the furniture out for the refinishing. You clued me in to expect 3 or 4 days.

The floors look so beautiful. I was actually wondering about three coats of poly when you first mentioned it. I was thinking two should do it. Glad you settled on just two. I know it was a huge undertaking with sanding the floors, looks like you and your son knew exactly what type of sander to use. My now deceased husband was a carpenter of new and renovation projects, so I have seen a lot and been involved alot with various projects. This was a great job !! Elizabeth, I know you love your newly renovated home. Happy for you !

Looks good ..my house is 1925 and my husband has done 2 rooms we need to touch up again..but we working on so much at this time …1925 alway something to do (upkeep)..we have been at so many DIYs..but Loving it ..

Bill, I sanded and refinished floors by myself while my husband worked away from home. Turned out beautiful. They were previously painted. Hard work but worth it.

I did this in my old house in PA. Yes the sander was bigger than yours and so hard on the bones...we tore up the carpet and saw how nice the hardwood floors were!!

Love watching the two of you work together. My son did this to a 1950's Cape Cod farmhouse he recently bought. The floors were covered in carpet, when he took it up he decided to try and bring the floors back and they are beautiful oak and he didn't stain, just polyurethane over them. Your's are lovely.

I noticed you still have to paint the trim. When you get done it will make all the difference in the world. I like the nautral finished floors. Calking the corners will fill in the gaps. You got alot done.
So much easier to clean a wood floor…a dust mop will do…carpeting is nice but I find it harder to manipulate a vacuum cleaner as I get older! Glad you are enjoying FL!

The floor looks wonderful! I had my doubts when I saw the old stains not all coming up, but you know what? They add personality to the newly refinished floor! Perfect! Who could ask for better results? Not I!
