2018 I got sick and my credit took a major hit. I never owned a major credit card because I always just used debit cards. So after watching one of your videos I applied to Capital One and received the unsecured Platinum credit card. I received it in March of this year and I've been making my payments on time. This evening I received in the mail a pre-qualified offer from Indigo for their Platinum Mastercard. Do I need to add this for a second credit card to build my credit or just stick with my Capital One card? Thank you.

I got accepted for capital one platinum with a 513 score 3 months ago. Even though I have collections on my account from like a year ago.
I got a $300 credit limit, I'd try to spend at least that $300 every month and paid it off before my due date.
It's been 3 months and I got it upgraded to a quicksilver, no annual fee with a 580 score.
Companies like capital one will take a chance on you, if you can't get the unsecured, get a secured one. It's up to you to use that card often, always pay it off, and develope a good relationship, and your credit limit will improve, maybe even quickly.

You need to be in the 700s and a credit history at least 3y/o. Also Chase does 5/24 meaning no more than 5 enquiries in 24 months.

Funny story my credit was so bad the only bank that would approve me in 2020 was capital one secure card I put the max deposit down of $799 and they granted me a $1000 card (the add extra credit based on deposit, after 6 months of using it I went for a kohls card and got it , fast forward 2022 I tried for an academy card and got it and Walmart capital one card , and a few others lower limits then my original but it takes time to rebuild credit but with responsible use and consistently making payments on time or auto pay, anything is possible 🙌

You could also do a self starter loan. It's a loan whereby you're paying yoursrlf- monthly payments go into a savings account and you get the funds back at the end of the term. It reports to all three credit bureaus.
