      Pretty impressive but those angles are deceptive. Also, the net's lower and volleyball players splay and kick their legs to stabilize and get maximise spiking power so it looks crazy compared to a straight vertical leap.

    Ok not to be a douche here the description says that that Meryia girl had a 46 inch vert which I hate so say is not true at all, a prime michael Jordan had a 46 inch vert. That’s one of the most athletic people of all time, so she at most has a 34 inch vert because the description also said that she could dunk at 5’9 which means she would have about a 34 to 35 inch vert which don’t get me wrong is still extremely impressive for a man or woman. I myself is a 16 year old male who’s about 6’1 and have about a 37 inch vert and in my days of being 5’9 and trying to dunk could barley dunk a tennis ball, a couple years ago my vertical was around 33 inches, since I probably had longer arms than her this makes since. If she had this so called 46 inch vert she would not be just be dunking she would be doing 360s, windmills, reverses etc these dunks were all achieved by spud Webb who was not only shorter than her but who had a lower vert than 46 inches as well so this 46 inch vert is not true. Hate to ruin it for the people that thought it was true, but it’s not. Camera angles can accomplish great things.

    • @doug6723
      @doug6723 Před 6 lety +1

      You can have a couple. Genetics. You never hear people talk about wingspan when it comes to dunking. If you have a standing reach that's high and can palm the ball you don't have to jump nearly as high to dunk. My son is 5'7' I''m 6'3" and his standing reach is maybe 5 inches lower.
      That's why these WNBA players dunks are not impressive, long arms but small vertical.
      Another is quick twitch muscle fibers in your body vs slow twitch. High jumpers, sprinters people who are very fast have more quick twitch, you probably have slow twitch. You can train your body to perform better with your slow twitch. (plyometrics, explosive movements etc.) but you kind of get what you get. If I train hard for 3-4 months I'll gain 6" on my jump. But it's a lot of hard tedious training.
      Weighing 250 pounds is a lot of weight to try and get off the ground. Carrying around a lot of fat and muscle just makes it that much more difficult to run jump etc. If you have the right body type, and the dedication to lose weight you will jump higher. Think of putting a bigger engine in a smaller car. It will naturally go faster, more power light weight = speed. Lebron dropped 15 pounds or so a few years ago which is really smart. It will spare his joints extra impact, prolong his career and he can stay explosive as he ages because he has less weight on his body. I'm betting he's nearly as strong as he was a few years ago but he also has more energy. Notice he doesn't cramp at the end of games like he used to. Remember San Antonio. He changed his diet, training to prolong his career but more importantly to stay in the game.
      I had food poisoning once, didn't eat for 3 days, I lost around 15 pounds. I went and played basketball and jumped higher than I ever had off of two feet. Then I gained my weight back and it brought me back to earth. So you can probably do it.

      Why??? Because it's the height of shame that some of these girls are more physically impressive then an AVERAGE boy?
      I mean, how do you think girls feel that the strongest among them are never going ot be as strong as the strongest, most trained guys out there: and that often the only way they can be stronger is against average or below average guys, and even then only in the guy doesn't work out or train.
      Again, there aren't really a lot of legal jobs out there where the size difference even matters anymore, yet girls still don't get paid as much for doing an equal amount of work. How do you think they feel then.
      Instead of saying this is sad, shouldn't you instead be saying how IMPRESSIVE it is that these girls can jumper higher then boys DESPITE the biological disadvantage.

      @@MxmeTeam I think he means better then boys who aren't training to be athletes, which is probably a liiitle patronizing to these girls. Yeah, guys are bigger... but you still have to TRAIN.

      Jaza Yeah but that doesn’t mean women can’t be stronger and more skilled then some men. Of course a woman who’s trained her whole life would beat a typical couch-potato man in basically any sport.
