How to use the Liquify Tools in Photoshop. This video is all about the fun and amazing Liquify filter in Photoshop. Learn Photoshop from the beginning. • Photoshop for Beginner...
Wow! That was really an Excellent tutorial. I was searching to find such an extensive in-detail tutorial. Thank you for sharing these tips. You have a new subscriber to your channel. 👍 By the way, you don't have to be that polite, or justify about sensitive subjects of overweight people. The people who will be annoyed will always be annoyed, even by the smallest excuses. In your video, you are demonstrating a high level tutorial about photoshop and not about social issues. So there is no need to worry if some people are bothered by the image you used. Just ignore them. Your Tutorial was very helpful to me. Because I couldn't use the Liquify tool normally before, and I couldn't view the image in the liquify interface. And the reason was I needed to upgrade my Pc. I put a 32 GB ram, CPU and GPU and now my Photoshop work as expected. But I don't have the Ai version. I have the 2022 version.
Thanks, Terry. I've used this filter for many years and gleaned a couple of new ideas. For those of you who say they already know all this ... well, just move on. No one is forcing you to watch it. Sheesh!
Straight to the point, clear, undesrstandable, sweet and short! Thank you for sharing your precious knowledge with the world. Even though am a photoshop users for many years now I found very useful techniques and tricks in your video for using the liquify tool which I do use often. A BIG THANK YOU!
That was great thank you. I have been using the Liquify tool for ages but didn't ever bother to learn all the options, now I have ... As a boudoir photographer I can tell you from experience that 99.9% of the time you will get no complaints from your clients/models for making small adjustments to help compliment their image. Nice video and thanks again ... subbed !
Hey Tim, thanks for the subscription. I had done quite a bit of Boudoir images, unfortunately, that was the film days, so liquefy wasn’t an option. Glad it works for you and you’re right, very few complaints on making someone thinner looking. However, if it’s noticeable that Liquify is done poorly, viewers will blame the subject, (like they are trying to pull a fast one) not their photographer. So you have to do it right or the customer ultimately comes back to the photographer not very happy. Thanks again!
Thanks Terry. Always appreciate & enjoy a follow artist making a super easy-to-follow presentation. Not everyone is a good educator but you nailed it perfectly. I love the liquidity tool myself
I've bought a couple of books on Photoshop and honestly they confused me, didn't explain things in an easy to understand way and were a waste of money, so I shied away from using Photoshop. Your video series came along and I'm having those "aha! that's how it's done" moments. They are truly helpful and informative, so thank you. Keep making great tutorials!
Thank you, Terry, for brining me back to Photoshop. This was so easy to grasp and even watching your videos built some confidence in me that I can edit pictures without feeling like a failure. Keep up the good work!
Wonderful details Terry, even after a long time using these tools, I learned some details I did not know before. I did subscribe and like. Thanks a lot.
Thanks for your videos. I’ve watched the entire beginner to photoshop playlist which was very helpful to me in navigating PS (it’s brand new to me). I edit studio portrait photos, I still having some trouble in figuring out in what order I should do particular things. For example, I smooth the background by selecting the background then use Gaussian blur and add noise to match the subject, following that I use frequency separation to smoothe the subjects skin and maybe liquify. I can successfully do each of these tasks in isolation but I’m unable to do all 3 in one edit/image. I must be missing something. Any advice ?
It sounds like a good plan, I do everything on separate layers. Using that combo layer shortcut to start a new layer that has all my work so far. I do end up with a quite a few layers. I am planing a portrait retouching video soon. That might help.
Some in the comments have complained this video was too simple, or didn't cover everything in the Liquify tool--could you make a Part Two to cover more/advanced parts of its use? TIA!
Hi Melody, I mainly wanted to touch on the "Most Used" functions of the tool. Down the road I will try to create one that is indeed more advanced. Thanks for the idea!
I have yet to find a use for that tool. But for others who don't know, it's the fourth icon tool down from top left side. If you hold the click, it will spin anything inside your brush clockwise. If you want it to go the other way, hold the ALT (PC) or the OPT (Mac) and it will spin the other way. Thanks for watching.
My favorite is to mask the entire image first and then unmask only the portion and surrounding area that I want to adjust. This keeps me from accidentally dragging the edges in. Set the mask brush on max size (15000?). One click will mask the entire image (normally). A final trick concerning the background, is to click "okay," go back to the layer in Photoshop, add a layer mask, and mask out the changes that may have warped the background.
I cannot get any tools to work either in Beta or PSCC 24. any ideas? I have done defrag, disc clean and rebooted I have also used different images in jpg and raw. I'm using Win10.
Well that is weird. I work on a Mac so I'm not much help there. Once I did an upgrade to the newest version of PS - a few things went squirrelly. It was a real pain. I don't upgrade right away anymore. I'd call Adobe and wait to speak to someone. Sorry it wasn't a better answer.
There can be a few causes to this. Could be that your computer will only use 8 bit for this kind of high processing. Check your version, if newest, you may need to go back a version to get it to work. You may need to get a better graphics card. Most of the reasons are related to your hardware. If you are working on an older computer the software might be too much for it I would contact Adobe and let them help you trouble shoot it. Sorry it's not great news.
The Liquify filter in Adobe Photoshop has been almost unusable for over a year. The error began in early 2023 and continues to March 2024. On Adobe Community pages customers have expressed their anger that this error has not been fixed, and their lost work time. Numerous quick fixes have been suggested, and still no solution has been provided by Adobe.
Dang, sorry you are having a tough time with it Peter. The last time I had a Photoshop issue working properly, was when I diligently upgraded my operating software (Mac). Now I wait, quite a long time before upgrading to make sure everything works properly. Hope you find a cure soon.
Why go on at length in the video about things that are glaringly obvious? Anyone capable of using a slider can simply give it a go and witness its effects firsthand. Ever considered this may put people off? To offer valuable content, delve into the software's hidden parts, those little-known features that escape most users' notice.
Yes. More useful tips would be "use your P key to toggle preview" or how to use "show Backdrop" effectively, and how to prepare your document for this, or how to use guides to accurately guide your liquify.

Yes, you never know when someone needs to be liquefied. :)

How to get counterclock-wise Twirl tool?
I have yet to find a use for that tool. But for others who don't know, it's the fourth icon tool down from top left side. If you hold the click, it will spin anything inside your brush clockwise. Playlist isn't in order Terry FYI. THank you for this series! :)
Thanks for letting me know. I think I just put things in order. I wouldn't have known to do that without your help. Thanks again.
Thank`s to you, I`m a better photographer! 😇
What a great compliment Marius. Thanks for watching.
you have a wind storm ??? I thought it was snowing....
just kidding😅
Ha, in sunny California, not too much snowing in the Bay Area.
My "Liquify" is grey and I can't click on it to use it. How to fix anyone know?

Hold alt/option when selecting it and that seems to make it work for me (until they fix it).
Looks like a total beginner video to me…
Thanks for watching!
That was the point.

For some, they have not ever worked with this filter, seems popular for many. Thanks for watching.
Yet you’ve got 44 subs and he’s got 20k
90% of what you are talking is useless.
Yes. More useful tips would be "use your P key to toggle preview" or how to use "show Backdrop" effectively, and how to prepare your document for this, or how to use guides to accurately guide your liquify.
Yes, but that 10% is REALLY good. HA, Thanks for watching.
