Had the joy of hearing Ingrid and Christine perform at the University of Minnesota Duluth late last year. Was an instant fan. Never tire of listening to this lady(s) music.
wonderful trpt/ composition. Band is groovin together, a great example of modern, yet still beautiful progressive, jazz. Jensen is an original voice, & her choice of ensemble compliments. Lage Lund is so subtle yet distinctive. Pianist is a gum-chewing poster boy of harmony.
Someone is disappointed because this doesn't swing? Hey it's kinda ECM-ish, "third stream" or whatever but who cares? It's really wonderful and beautifully played.
It's so weird, because there is a subtle 9/8 feel for the majority of the track... it literally is swinging. There's plenty of really good straight-feel music for these people to go misguidedly shit on and they chose a swung tune 😂
hey, wynton marsalis already has that gig. Welcome to the 21st century. Your ear must have some catchin' up to do! I bet you complain about Tom Harrell too.
You mean they never get around to walking in 4/4; but 3/4 swing and then eventually a Baião w modern interpretation. I think this is a bot making this comment anyway. and they do get around to swing but not in this tune.
Her Trumpet sounds like a Flugelhorn. I love it!

Too sophisticated for you?
Too bad they never get around to swinging.
+tdeecy lol
This IS a 3/4 swing waltz... :-D
they swing, but your old-fashioned ear can't hear it yet
They swing throughout. If you have trouble hearing it, it's really obvious at 2:30.
