I do appreciate your podcasts, good sirs. I don't always agree 100% with every episode, but you are nonetheless educated and confident speakers, and I do like learning new things concerning history and doctrine. This was a fun episode trying to condense 2,000 years of church history into 28 minutes, a very challenging thing I'm sure. Y'all should do a completely separate podcast series where you spend a more adequate amount of time explaining church history and doctrines. I would be hooked on that in a minute. Let's not forget. No one in the history of Christendom except for a few obscure Gnostic groups (Cainites, 2nd century mentioned by Tertullian) ever denied the necessity of water baptism for salvation, before the 16th century and John Calvin. He is credited as the very first to promote this concept. Even Calvin's mentor, Augustine of Hippo, who at one time had been a Manichean Gnostic, continued to teach the necessity of water baptism for salvation. Any belief otherwise is only 500 years old, and has more in common with Gnosticism rather than true Christianity.
How do we know we have 2000 years of accurate church history? Cause Pope Gregory 8 said so in 1582, or was it i582? How do we know our history is not a lie? There’s too many things not in the historic narrative to bring solid questioning to the topic.
