- Rescue 50 responding to assist Station 57 (Quarryville) on a working house fire. Units from 57 had the fire out quickly and held it to units on the scene. The Rescue returned available. Willow Street Fire Company. Taken 5/2/24

Q: "Where is this?"
A: Our fire house is located in the town of Willow Street, just south of Lancaster City, Lancaster County Pennsylvania.
Q: "What is the spinning thing?"
A: That is called the "Roto-Ray," it is a spinning light designed to catch drivers attention.
Q: "Why is the call so far away?" or "Why does it take so long to get there?"
A: Many of our responses, or at least many of the ones that are uploaded are responding to assist other departments. Usually another firehouse can be seen or is passed by who is already on the call. We can reach the far end of our first due in West Lampeter Twp within 5 minutes, and in Providence Twp about 7.

A: For dash cams I use a GoPro Hero 7, helmet cam videos I use a FireCam 1080

Horn actually. There was none.
Easy to say from a video point. I’ve been out there, that’s a 50mph stretch of road, which means folks are doing an average of 60 if not higher.
Really difficult to see a truck at an intersection like that much less hear it.
Even if they were doing the prescribed 50, that wouldn’t have much difference. What are you gonna do besides? Just, stop, in the middle of a 50mph limit highway and cause an accident?
Also if you mean at 00:50 then I mean that work truck pulled off, can was doing what they could to get past it so R50 could pass, and the left turn lane car was stopped and waiting pulled into the shoulder as well. This happens, more Q and horn isn’t going to make it magically fix. Form my experience, of 14.5 years if anything it’ll induce panic into a driver and cause them to erratically move to where they think they should go, causing chaos at best and another incident at worst.
Enjoy these ride alongs and now know places where to buy a Harley, a motor home, get my taxes done get lunch and several fishing spots!
