in a more literal way it also evokes something that i’m sure many people who have lost a family member they were close with can relate to: that first winter after they’re gone it feels that much colder without their presence in your life. he’s only performed either it or hey mama a handful of times each live since 808s and heartbreak came out, mostly because i assume it puts him right back into that emotional place of how he felt right after his mom died.

This song will forever hold a special meaning to me; since my baby bunny "Tardis" died over Christmas 2018. I got him in June 2018 & he became my closest companion. I needed a wee friend; as I'm disabled, housebound & chronically ill since I had sepsis at Christmas 2013. Then, just before Christmas 2018; he wouldn't eat/drink or use his litter box. Tardis was treated for "GI Stasis", but he was too far gone; so the vet advised us to have him put to sleep. My big sister wanted a cig before going in, so I sat in my wheelchair for some air (& it was VERY cold) ... then this song played on the car radio & I swear; when I heard the lyrics, it was like a "goodbye song" for my baby bunny. When I realised it'd be our last song, I cried. When we took him in, Tardis died quietly in my arms. He was only 10 months & 24 days old... 💕✨🎵💉🐇👼 😭💔❄️✨💕

Okay. I just listened to Kanye’s vocal of this. First of all, it’s a melancholy, sadly beautiful song...very haunting and well-written. But I love the Pentatonix version better. To me, the way they add color and gentle discord to the music, the lovely, intermixing of notes and voices make the tracks sound and feel like a melting, watercolor painting. It’s almost as if the colors in the painting are flowing softly, letting tears of grief just cascade down into a bottomless lake. Weird, I know, but that’s how this lovely Pentatonix version makes me feel: a sense of yearning, a free fall of hope, a final, bleak stretch to find the one we’ve lost. A truly stunning rendition.

I relate to this song and I can relate to Kanye as in 2016/2017 that was my 'Coldest Winter' my uncle had been sick with cancer and one night in San Antonio Texas that was actually cold, my mom and dad were going to visit my uncle who was as you probably guessed in the hospital. I begged them to go my little kid mind just knew that he was gonna die that night. And so they left and I cried. When they came home thats when I got the news that he died in the middle of the night. When we finally got home thats when me and my brother opened our last gifts from him, and I still cry about it today and the fact it had to just be New Years Night when he died taunts me.

The couple gets in a fight, the wife can't stop thinking ab it. the husband decides to leave her. The second they let go, the snowglobe starts falling. The storm arouses, and they both die... together. This is a well executed music video. I can't stop watching it:)))

I liked the song OK but the video was meh when I first saw it. Few months later, I actually WATCHED and I'm shook. Like, damn that's relatable AF. Everything crashing down around Mr Snowman and he's all focused on the pain he doesn't even notice. Or maybe his pain is what's causing the chaos around him IDK either way I'm kinda obsessed now. Can't wait to see them in VT. I hope they make their last show with Avi a special one.

ronjas the songs aren't the same. Don't be ignorant thinking he stole it. He sampled/interpolated the melody. It's an actual thing musicians do. Kind of like what the John Lennon did with Moonlight Sonata or what Vanilla Ice did with Under Pressure.
