  • On this day I fly the drone over downtown Aguadilla, Puerto Rico. You can see some of the damage on the roofs and get a nice glimpse of this beautiful seaside city from the air.

    I gasp, when I see my neighborhood. And the music is perfection.

    The music is great. It triggers more of a historical curiosity for that town, than highlighting the effects of the hurricane. Did not notice the blue roof top covers at all(because I was immersed at everything). Only at second viewing did I notice.

    The close ups of the Barrios are majestic. Drones are certainly the way to go(for filming). Aguadilla, I still have your back.

      The drone allows me to see things that I normally would not see. Puerto Rico especially, it looks so majestic from up in the air.

    The advent of drones make these glorious images possible(amazing for documentation).

    There used to be a small prison, right behind the 'Alcaldia," And occasionally, some prisoners would break loose. Boy, did I love talking about that at the time. Don't understand the reasoning, or logic(tragic, if you asked me) behind the massive black rocks that cover a narrow, but extensive strip of beach that began from El Coliseo and on. Very familiar with that area. Keep them coming, Ovi.

    @nelsoncaban7496 Před 6 lety +2

    You often wondered, what crimes did those poor prisoners commit? You sometimes heard their pleas, and yells for help. From a small narrow window. And the elementary school-no longer there. It's all coming back to me, Ovi, it's all coming back.

      LOL Nelson. There are a lot of comments. Late last night I returned from Puerto Rico. It was another successful trip. This time my wife went as well and we visited many new places. I should start posting new videos next week. It was very exciting for us.

      Sorry for so many comments(I deleted some). Just trying to add a story(or a narrative) to a town that I love. To build up some interest. Will add more comments, but will certainly delete more. You provided me with visuals that I yearned for. Just giving the visuals some context. My apologies, and look forward to watching..

      I only wish I could've recorded a little more on this day. When was the last time you visited? Sounds like it may been a very long time ago.

    • @nelsoncaban7496
      @nelsoncaban7496 Před 6 lety +1

      Probably 12 years ago. There is not a single block, beach, bario, house, school, or family businesses, that I did not find interesting there. I do remember telling my aunt in the 90s(she lived at Ramey base at the time) while vacationing, that I was off to the pharmacy. She insisted on coming, and for some reason, we ended up at a Walgreens, yes, a Walgreens. She never truly understood. Fill in the blanks, my friend. You covered basically everything, excellent!

    • @oviduran
      @oviduran  Před 6 lety

      If you are referring to the Walgreens on Rt. 2 just past the Aguadilla Mall, it's still there. I've been inside once or twice.

    • @nelsoncaban7496
      @nelsoncaban7496 Před 6 lety

      That's where we ended. But that's not the moral of the story. There was a family pharmacy, one block away from Ferrari(which also happens to be a pharmacy). Get it, 1979. I told you, that I love that town. Now, its your turn to show us your town, and your story.

    • @oviduran
      @oviduran  Před 6 lety +1

      I just looked closely at a satellite image of crashboat beach from last year and the drone footage I took. The beach is now half the size of what it used to be! No wonder some of the buildings are heavily damaged. The water now comes up to the buildings where there used to be palm trees and boats.

      Where is your house in Aguadilla? I may be stopping by Camaseyes when I arrive tomorrow.

    • @nelsoncaban7496
      @nelsoncaban7496 Před 6 lety

      I lived in a place called Campo Allegre #7. Almost at its peak, but not quite. Its covered by trees. If you understand anything about geography, and distance, and some history. Then, you will understand my comments. Its evolved dramatically. By the time I moved there(1979 to be exact) people were beginning to build better houses elsewhere. But that's not the point. Its because of Aguadilla that I love Puerto Rico(I've said enough). Beyond grateful for this.

    • @nelsoncaban7496
      @nelsoncaban7496 Před 6 lety

      Sidenote, as of now, I have very little family in Aguadilla. I don't think they've ever found jobs there. All with some education. I have no political interests, and I'm writing from my small apt in NYC. All, I mean all, the majestic areas of that town have been destroyed. And have generated very little tourism. My interests were always on storytelling, cinematagrophy, and movies. I can tell you the movies theatres that once stood there. I am now 51 years old. I felt the need to reveal that. Traveling mercies for you, and your family. And Puerto Rico is worthy, of a cinematic Hollywood movie.

      Sorry, not "all the majestic areas" need to clarify that.

    Hi, Ovi. I’ll be in that area for a couple weeks in February. Are you aware of any organizations looking for volunteers? Thanks again for sharing these videos.

    • @oviduran
      @oviduran  Před 6 lety

      Greetings Neil. At present I am not aware of any organizations that would be accepting volunteers, but I am sure there are some. I will ask family members in the area if they could provide contacts in their areas. However, I do plan to visit the island again in two weeks and I will be looking for that information for you. Have a great day. BTW, what part of the island are you visiting?

    • @BarryZuckercorn1212
      @BarryZuckercorn1212 Před 6 lety +1

      Thanks for the quick reply, Ovi. I’m spending the first couple of days helping family in Guaynabo/Caguas and then off to Rincón for the remainder. And during this trip I’d like to check out San Sebastián and that area being that it’s close by. I thought volunteering would be a great way to learn about that part of the island beyond the tourist trappings. Any information would be great. Thanks again!

      I'm planning to go over for christmas (this weekend) any ideas how do i get in contact to help and volunteer?

    • @oviduran
      @oviduran  Před 6 lety

      Neil, I just returned from Puerto Rico. I asked family and friends if they knew of any volunteer opportunities but they do not. Some suggested you contact the Puerto Rican chapter of the Red Cross. Here is their website: www.redcross.org/local/puerto-rico/oficina-de-servicio-voluntario. I traveled all over the west coast of the island and things are starting to get back to normal. Wish you the best in your trip next month.

    Hi nice shots what drone model was that? whats the range etc ?

    • @oviduran
      @oviduran  Před 6 lety

      This drone is the DJI Mavic Pro. The range is about four miles, but I never fly more than about a mile. If you are into aerial photography and making movies from the air I highly recommend this drone. I also have the Phantom 4 which is also an excellent drone, but the Mavic is much smaller and easier to travel with. I use the Phantom close to home and the Mavic when I travel.
