If that doesn’t convince you, look at the sales figures, Land Rover sold almost 3x as many Range Rovers in the US last year as Mercedes did G-Wagons.

Clearly I was making a joke with a 50% valuation after 18 months, but Land rovers do not hold resale value because of the difficulty and maintenance with regard to electronics and cost.. Not to mention their models have poor reliability ratings. Gorgeous, advanced and fast, yes. Reliable and valuable, questionable at best.

While shopping for cars, I test drove the BMW x5 and the Mercedes equivalent (gle is it? I can’t remember). A year or two latter I checked the values of all three cars and and was pleasantly surprised to find that the RRS lost the least value (based on kbb trade in estimates) as a percentage of original msrp. I think the LR Disco is a nice car but I don’t think it’s as sought after as the RRS and I don’t think 8 year old car values are necessarily representative of say 1.5-2 year old car values. As far as reliability goes, I didn’t have any issues with mine besides a software updated that needed to happen. I just traded in for a ‘23 Defender and it’s become my favorite car I’ve ever owned! Just got our first snow today as a matter of fact which makes it even more of a pleasure to drive right now!

Let me tell you a story. I helped run a small garage years ago and we had a Land Rover dropped off because every light on the dash was on looked like a X-Mas tree lol. I said we’re not going to touch this one but agreed to drop off at the Land Rover dealership and let them work on it. When we got the call to pick it up it was fixed we drove it less than a mile before all the lights came back on.
@@leenevin8451 I didn't have the chance to go in a 7 series but i've driven X5, Cayenne, XC90 and GLS. In my opinion it is superior from a comfort pov. If you have the Autobiography trim level, you set the cruise control and just go for hundres of kms without feeling anything. If you are looking for a more aggresive driving experience then the Cayenne felt better. With the RR I did 130,000 km in 3 years without any major tech issues - only problem was my seat massage module that was replaced under warranty. From that point of view, I think the post facelift models (2018+) are more reliable. Specially since the oil recommendation was fixed.

Few years ago we were getting a new car and went and looked at one of the less expensive models of range rovers. I asked the guy if they are really that prone to breaking down and expensive when they do. He said "That's the price you pay for getting to drive a luxury vehicle ". We got a Volkswagen.
First I thought this was just another overpriced Range Rover that has nothing more to offer than what any other $50k SUV does! but then you blew my mind when you said it has THREE screens on the back instead of just two! Now I completely agree that this piece of garbage is definitely worth a quarter million dollars!
