Having spent years riding in brutal heat summers, having almost lost a buddy to heat stroke, we used to hit the road just as the sun came up, so we could get as many miles behind us as possible before it got beyond 110 degrees. Hot is hot, always wore some sort of long sleeve to keep the sun off and protect against the elements. Start pounding water at least an hour before you get out in it to stay hydrated, because if a guy waits until he’s thirsty, it’s too late.
I experienced the same thing with the heat in 2018 when I traveled to Colorado from Knoxville via Albuquerque NM. I banged that route to Albuquerque out straight through in 24 hours and 10 minutes. The heat through Amarillo was unbearable. But I pushed through it somehow. I wish I could have done more riding with this amazing group. The ride from Asheville NC to Maryville TN through the Dragon was short but amazing. Thank you for everything you do for the Veterans. Ride safe and have a blessed and amazing journey.
Would be fortunate if 10% of the money raised for WWP gets to our Vets. Huge salaries and lavish spending continues. $400M raised last year, $344M spent on salaries and expenses. Awareness of this in the biker community is lacking.
Adam, I live in Oklahoma, I am 83 and wondered how old has been your oldest rider? I haven’t ridden since my wife passed away in September. Of course, I still want to ride.

Drink a bottle of water at every stop. It is amazing how much better you will feel. Wear white long sleeves. I ride in the heat, take advice from an old fart.

I’m not sure of the exact age of the oldest rider, but I believe we have had folks in their 80s

I fill my yeti cup up with water put it in my big ass cup holder from Ciro 3d hasn’t failed yet so I drink water on hot days and Coffee on cold days
I just started using a Ciro cup holder and it’s been a game changer having cold water at the ready 💯
