  • After hitting bottom and kicking up a bunch of junk from the bottom of a lake and pond I decided it was time to clean the sub.

    If the motors are not cleaned properly they will need replacing at $200 for the set.
    I do recommend taking the motors completely apart if you go in saltwater. Not so easy, but if not ... $200! You cannot rinse off the inside of those motors.
    Great video, friend!

    Thank you for making this one !! All our drones need a little love and maintenance to keep them running like New. I liked seeing how easy this one is to clean out. Believe it or not our Florida waters aren't crystal clear Either. The Dory & Gladius Mini handle them just fine though!!

    Hi, thanks for the info. I also live in the Ohio area, Mentor. The Chagrin and Grand rivers are clear at times to put a Gladius mini into. I put screens around the the jets on both sides to minimize the debris entering in, but particularly on the Jets that move it up and down .

      Mine went bad after single use. 4 out of 5 locked up solid and that was after being ran in the bath to rinse it out.

    Girlfriend has one of these. Two uses out in the ocean, cleaned properly/rinsed off with fresh water after each use. One month later, all motors are seized and rusted. Managed to get 3 of them working, but the front left and right are a complete frozen right off. Replacements are currently $60 each+ and Chasing the company who makes them keep changing their support email address. Rubbish product it seems, especially for the cost.

    Great video. I was wondering is IT possible to change battery, let say for 10000? That would be awsome

    How the hell does this device deal with water pressure? I've taken mine down to 200ft once still ok but you know what is an safe depth befor it will explode? i know t's rated for 200+ft but can it handle 500ft? As i visit the coast a lot and go out about 200 miles
    Doesn't look sturdy enough i thought it would be sealed good but you easily took it apart with a screwdriver lol

      The aluminium "Cabin" (the black cylinder in the video) is incredibly solid and contains all the works and battery with only the brushless motors outside. The only limit really is the length of the tether, which is 100 metres (330 feet). I suspect it could easily dive to 1,000 feet without any drama if the tether was long enough. The plastic is only to streamline the ROV and, as it allows the water in, it doesn't need to resist any pressure.

      @@Knapweed Ahh ok that's fantastic to hear! do they sell extended tethers?
      I would also worry about signal strength/distance... i plan to send mine down around 450ft off the coast of england, few ship wrecks there
      I wish this thing had arms.. would like to grab stuff and bring it back to the surface.

      It's a Torx security bit. You should be able to buy a set at just about any hardware store. I'm sorry I don't have the size of it handy

    • @telescott1
      @telescott1  Před 4 lety +1

      When I was there in the summer in the bay across from Cedar Point the water was high and very muddy. I am told Lake Erie near Huron and Mentor on the Lake is somewhat clear. I have not been there to try it though.

    • @telescott1
      @telescott1  Před 4 lety +1

      Also if you look at the previous comment Albert Moore said some rivers are somewhat clear.
