    You're so right about sleeping on an air matress; it must transfer cold air, because it's cold to sleep on one. That's great you can sleep well in there on the foam pads.

    • @ConnorLee
      @ConnorLee  Před rokem

      It’s no memory foam mattress, but it sure is comfy for a truck bed haha!

    Mr Heaters Buddy Heaters are catalytic and thus cannot produce co2. A little fresh air doesn't hurt, because too little oxygen will cause it to turn off. But they are perfectly safe for inside use. People treat them like they are time bombs and if that were true there would be warning labels all over the box. They left one run for 24 hr straight in a hot tent and co2 detector never went off

    • @abdullahal-shimri3091
      @abdullahal-shimri3091 Před 2 lety +4

      You need a carbon monoxide detector not carbon dioxide detector. The former is a deadly poison gas.

    • @DaleHarris-sl3ci
      @DaleHarris-sl3ci Před 25 dny

      That might be why it didn't go off. CO vs CO2

  • @DaleHarris-sl3ci

    I just ordered the larger size heater and also the small one and a vent hatch and a CO detector. Oh yeah and a 9.5" DVD player. I'm going on a road trip/ camping for 2 months as soon as I finish building and setting it up.
    I have a 32' RV but this looks far more fun and simpler.

      @@ConnorLee I use to take one offshore with me. I was WAS a commercial diver on the platforms and those movie players come in handy when you can't sleep.

    That’s my all time favorite heater. I slept in my truck for a month in NY winter and that heater kept me alive. I went through three 20 lb propane tanks.

    Insulate the shell with reflectex (?) and cover with boat carpet, or just use boat carpet. For condensation problem.

    • @DaleHarris-sl3ci

      @@coreychampley148 I did a few experiments on blankets.
      Being a Sat. diver blankets are a thing.
      It can't produce static, it must be light weight because of all our gear and the amount of it.
      To cut to the chase I discovered the cheapo blankets at Walmart for $3. Something sewn together are perfect down to 20 below. I lay on one and cover with two. They are fire resistant won't create static and weigh nothing.
      I buying 6 more today.
      If you build a PVC frame you can make a tiny shelter inside and survive 40 below with ease.

    i think netting around the sides and maybe ceiling could help with storage accessibility, considering your seasonings are in an out of reach place when your cab bed is closed.

    • @ConnorLee
      @ConnorLee  Před rokem

      That is a dilemma. I was thinking about cutting a second hatch above the drawer to have inside access but the netting could be a move.

  • @edwardmoore9666

    An answer to the condensation issue is diesel heater. Gives dry forced air heat. The flocking makes a difference as well

    Your build looks awesome. The buddy heater gives out too much condensation and the Co2 it could give off is dangerous. Get yourself a Jackery Lithium Ion battery and use an electric blanket. It will be dryer and you will keep warm. Plus, you could get a low output electric heater if it was too cold for you.

    • @ConnorLee
      @ConnorLee  Před 2 lety

    Hi Conner, I happened to come across your vid. I've been truck camping since the 80's. It looks like you've got a pretty good set up there. I might suggest you get a small fan to circulate the warm air in your rig. You can check out camping stores in your area, they will have what you need, but it'll be expensive. Wally World does ok. You're going to find that you will add & detract what you need as time goes on. There is no right way. There is no wrong way. There is only 1 way, YOUR WAY. Thanks for sharing, drive safe. 🤠
