In any live-action version of Dune, I'm always drawn to the Paul-Chani relationship. The instant connection, the love that makes Paul feel at home after all he's lost. But this Chani differs from her counterparts with her love for Paul conflicting with her desire for her people's freedom from any and all enslavement. It is an interesting take on the character, well played by Zendaya.

I was really caught off guard by Chani not bowing down to the legend like she had in the book but I was glad they went that route in the film; it makes the character so much stronger and compelling to call out the insanity of what the Bene Gesserit set into motion. Zendaya killed it in this movie, definitely one of my favorite actresses. If we end up getting that third film I have no idea how things will play out given this change, I can't really imagine this Chani ever coming around to accepting what Paul's become.

The second half, Paul's conflict betw hs love for Chani and what he must do to
Keep Freman safe is heart breaking and the way he looks at her is so compelling. Chani shows more anger in her responses to Paul's silent pleading for her to understand. For Dune to close on a deeply hurt Chani who has called a Sandworm is everything.... bought film as soon as it was released to watch to my hearts content.

For you, but Denis tells why he choose to elevate Chani in Dune2 …film making is a book and requires certain plot twists to hold an audience… people stiil love Paul through his and Chani’s realationship… it keeps audience invested in what would have been a much darker story
Dune 3 is in the works… so I will wait
