    00:01 Shinjuku 3-Chome
Shinjuku 3-Chome is one of the most vibrant and diverse nightlife areas in Tokyo. Located just a short walk from Shinjuku Station, it offers a mix of bars, clubs, restaurants, and entertainment options catering to a wide range of tastes. Here are some highlights:
    Bars and Izakayas:
Golden Gai: A famous area within Shinjuku, known for its narrow alleys and tiny bars, each with its own unique theme and atmosphere. It's a great place to bar hop and meet locals and travelers.
Omoide Yokocho: Another iconic spot, also known as "Memory Lane" or "Piss Alley," featuring numerous small izakayas serving delicious yakitori and other Japanese pub foods. It's a nostalgic area reminiscent of post-war Tokyo.
    Nightclubs and Music Venues:
Warp Shinjuku: A popular nightclub offering a mix of EDM, hip-hop, and techno music. It's a favorite among both locals and tourists looking to dance the night away.
Marz: A smaller venue that hosts live music performances, including indie bands and DJs, providing a more intimate nightlife experience.
    Dining:
Izakayas: There are countless izakayas (Japanese pubs) where you can enjoy a variety of Japanese dishes along with drinks. Popular ones include Torikizoku for affordable yakitori and Toritama for more upscale dining.
Ramen Shops: For a late-night bite, ramen shops like Ichiran and Nagi are open late and serve delicious bowls of ramen.
    LGBTQ+ Friendly:
Ni-chome: Shinjuku 2-Chome, adjacent to 3-Chome, is known for its vibrant LGBTQ+ scene. It hosts a variety of bars and clubs that cater to the LGBTQ+ community and their allies.
    Nightlife in Omoide Yokocho
Omoide Yokocho, often referred to as "Memory Lane" or "Piss Alley," is a narrow alleyway located just northwest of Shinjuku Station. It offers a unique and nostalgic nightlife experience that contrasts with the modern, bustling atmosphere of Shinjuku. Here’s what makes Omoide Yokocho special:
    Atmosphere:
The alley is famous for its retro ambiance, with tiny, closely-packed izakayas and food stalls. The area retains a feel of post-war Tokyo, with its narrow pathways, paper lanterns, and smoky, lively atmosphere.
    Food:
Yakitori: Many of the small eateries specialize in yakitori (grilled chicken skewers). These are often cooked right in front of you on charcoal grills, adding to the smoky charm of the alley.
Other Dishes: Besides yakitori, you can find places serving ramen, kushiyaki (skewered and grilled meat and vegetables), and various other traditional Japanese snacks.
    Drinks:
Most establishments offer a good selection of sake, shochu, beer, and other alcoholic beverages, making it an ideal place for an informal night out with friends or for meeting new people.
    Cultural Experience:
Omoide Yokocho is not just about eating and drinking; it’s a cultural experience. The tight quarters and shared seating encourage interaction with other patrons, both local and international. It’s a great spot for those wanting to immerse themselves in a slice of Tokyo’s history and everyday life.
Both Shinjuku 3-Chome and Omoide Yokocho offer distinctive nightlife experiences that reflect different aspects of Tokyo's vibrant culture. Whether you’re looking to dance the night away, enjoy a quiet drink, or soak up the nostalgic atmosphere of post-war Tokyo, these areas have something to offer.

Every time I'm watching videos about Japan, I'm getting so much joy. Love that country. It has some much good stuff. Beautiful nature, clean street, cultured society, modern architecture, anime culture, very old traditions and a lot more! Everything looks so cozy.

Omoide Yokocho has some really good udon. I went during the day and on the side where the money exchange booth was at. It was shocking to see so many western tourists in one spot. Some of those places didn’t allow filming, so surprised you got to film.

I like Shinjuku 3 Chome. I went there about 10 years ago to an awesome Izakaya. That Izakaya was left from the Showa area.
I wanted to go there again, but unfortunately I can not clearly remember the name and the place of that izakaya, so I can not find it anymore.
I was hoping to find it here in this video, but unfortunately it is not in the video.
But anyway, a very good video.

Japan is being overrun by tourists. Articles in the LA Times have said Mt. Fuji is a real headache right now. A town has put up a screen to block the view of Mt. Fuji and now there are fees go hike up the mountain. Maybe 32 million tourist this year.
