I truly believe Disney hates their "former" customer base. Their last gasp is to do the absolute least to spin and appear like they wanna change back to America is good and family is good. Just enough to get cash while staying woke. I dispair, because I have loved them so much

    • @Mike__B
      @Mike__B Před 20 dny +8

Kind of missed the mark there, Disney never cared about their "former" customer base, they only care about the people who will make them as much money as possible, nothing more. If you were will to pay... "oh $80/day isn't bad, oh $100/day isn't bad, $120/day isn't bad, oh it's only an extra $30/day to skip some lines, well except that ride $20 so we don't wait isn't bad"... those are the people who are making life miserable for the people who say "it is bad"

@@Mike__BYou have no clue what you're talking about. None. Disney World USED to be reasonably priced. Very reasonably priced. The reason my father began taking us as kids was because it cost marginally more than a week at the shore. It waa NOT a non-stop money vacuum and MANY "perks" that now have to be paid through the nose for were just part of the price of admission. There was infinitely more value for, even adjusting for inflation, about 1/3 what they charge today. They wanted Disney to be available and affordable to everyone. Once upon a time.

Oh, don't forget to buy a portable charger or your phone is dead by 2:00 pm because the tracking on Genie+ burns up the battery! We aren't going back anytime soon for this and other reasons. As far as paper maps, my husband actually had a nasty exchange with a cast member when we dared to ask for a paper map (my child wanted for a keepsake). My husband was shocked at how rude the person was, it's so sad what has happened to Disney. Conversely, we went to Universal, had a great time, and I didn't have to be on my phone at all. Coming from someone who has gone to the parks more times, then i can remember. I will tell you the usage of your phones outside of making a phone call or checking the time is an absolute travesty. The entire purpose of the Disney parks and the effort they went to, to place certain things around the park, was for guests to see them and appreciate them, but most of all to enjoy being there to create memories. You know how much of that is being done outside of taking a picture in front on the castle....none. Disney has got to get people off their phones when they enter the park. You want to make more money, start focusing on the experience, the price and wait times so more people are willing to go. Lastly there is nothing more frustrating then having a new ride that you go to these parks for. Only to get there on your vacation and not be able to ride it because Disney in their stupidity thought it would be a good idea to sell spots for new rides locking people out of going on them if they aren't great with their phones, want to be on their phones, or willing to pay extra for the ride...on their phone. For every guests that loses out on going on that ride to that system, I guarantee you're losing money from them. There is a reason Universal said no way are we doing that and, why they are constantly taking chunks of business from Disney.

Before the app came about, I would just walk around and get inline for a ride or restaurant as I saw fit.

Also the mobile ordering feels really hard with food allergies who they encourage to talk to cast members to verify things. It makes it harder for food allergies to get food because the mobile ordering is propped up so much and the make the traditional ordering harder to encourage more mobile orders.

I refuse to use my phone in the park. It can be done with some planning ahead. I do not want to use the terrible Genie+ app while in the park. I like solely taking in the vibes of the park.
The last time I was in the park and walked up to order food. I was told I had to mobile order, yet there was no one in line and the cast member was standing there bored with nothing to do. The pickup was an hour from that time. Why? When policy overrides the common sense of customer service…there is a problem! I walked away. I won’t support mobile ordering.

I went to Disneyland last year with my friends. I’ve been to Disneyland multiple times as a kid. I know that park like the back of my hand. I even know the general flow of the crowds as the day goes on. But even then, I had to stay looking at my phone! You have to make sure you’re getting Lightning Lanes for the rides you want to go on, you have to check show times, parade times, order food, check ride wait times, etc!! It was exhausting!! I didn’t want to be on my phone, I wanted to enjoy the park!! And because we were forced to be on our phones all day, almost all of our batteries were dead by the end of the night which is bad for multiple reasons. When I go to the parks, I don’t want to be glued to the phone. I don’t want to be stressed, I don’t want to be worried, and I really don’t want to pay extra money for that experience. I liked the 3 fast passes made on a computer before arrival. I have not and probably will never purchase Genie Plus. Members of my traveling party that have, had to stay all day at the park to get the rides they wanted. Also, a few times certain rides passes were gone by 10 am. So they paid for Genie and never got the ride they wanted. No problem with making a paying system out of passes. I remember E tickets and the books. They could make it $300 per and there will be those who are compelled to purchase it because they don't want to be thought of less than true fans. Now guests are forced to have a phone. The burden of costs are put on the guest by this and other policies. Yet, most of you STILL choose to give them money. I went to Disney World last year. Never again! I bought a one park pass for 4 days. I wanted to go to 2 parks one day(my last day of my trip). If i didn’t do this, I wouldn’t be able to go to Hollywood Studios(long story). Instead of charging me for one day with a multi pass charge, they charged me for all 4 days even though they knew I was leaving the next day.

Disney Dollars were discontinued quite a few years ago. I wanted to get some the last time I went and that is what they told me. Too bad, I really liked them and have quite a few of them as souvenirs.
Also, I don't use Genie+. Thank goodness that I have been there enough times that I don't feel the need to have to ride everything when I go. As a result, I typically only use my phone to order food and play Heads Up when standing in lines for rides. And I normally only ride rides that have lines that look to be reasonable when I pass by. I know that I am anomaly, but it does make Disneyland much more enjoyable for me if I am not tied to some digital leash telling me when I can and cannot ride rides or having my entire day revolving around a few rides that I have lightning lane passes for.

The worst thing is no photos on rides. Supposedly, there's some sort of thing that connects to your phone to see pics on rides but i couldn't get it to work. My 5yos fist roller coaster rides and i got nothing showing them.

I think that it TOTALLY SUCKS that Disney has forced its park goers to do everything from their phones. They are too focused looking at their phones to do anything that they DON'T pay attention to where they are walking causing issues.

It's gone too far. If you are not a local who can enjoy the parks extremely casually. Going to the Disneyland Resort is a stressful chore. Myself and many others have basically boycotted all retail since Genie Plus and Individual Lightning Lane were launched. Too complicated, convoluted and shameless way to say they really only care about the money in your wallet.

To be honest, I’ll say people in Disney theme parks are on their phone too much. Sure phones are good for ordering something if you don’t have time to stay or for a virtual reality experience, but parks are meant to be enjoyed not to be sitting around like a teen who doesn’t care about their parent.

I want to be able to go on vacation, leave my phone in pocket for emergencies only. I don't want to be tied down to an app to do everything. I'm on vacation to get away from technology, i work with it everyday, all day. The whole point of Disneyland's design was to make it feel like you're in another world. That's why there's few areas you can see outside of the park while you're within the park. I understand wait times, i understand the allure of a "fast lane". Especially for families that get to go once or twice every 20 years. But to make everything dependent on an app, surcharge every square foot of the park is outrageous.
Now, i believe there are ways to meet in the middle
    Pre ordering food
Allowing coupons or discounts with app only purchases
Free merchandise delivery to your room while you're at the park
    Ride reservations
But expecting guests to be on their phone the entire time is unacceptable. In my opinion.
