  • I've been meaning to do this for quite sometime now.
After a certain amount of continuous playback, the stock tape player in the 5th generation Honda Accord will flash "Clean" when you put a tape in the player. This is a notification that the tape player needs to be cleaned. In this video, I show the process of doing this.

Really cool video, man! Wow, it's been a while since I've seen a car with a tape player but it's impressive that you've kept yours up well. Great soundtrack with "Maybe I'm Amazed" playing in the background. (And I know you were joking about the "copyright infringement" comment, but since you aren't making money off of this video, you should be in the clear. :) ) I don't think cassettes will ever go away completely for old-school guys like you and me...after all, records are still around. :)

Yea, I think I could do that in my 2001 Honda CR-V SE. It has a standard CD player and Cassette Player. My mom and my dad sometimes play casstte tapes, but my CD sometimes does not play in cold temperatures. I think cassette players are better than CD in my opinion, because most casing on the cassettes are sturdy and don't break much, except the tape. Some Hondas have a TAPE error message, when the tape player gets jammed or about to get jammed due to long continuous play.

Roadgeek Hey, I know this is an old video, but do you know anywhere that I could still find a cleaner-cassette? Neither Walmart nor Best Buy have them available, and online they range from $15-25 with shipping.
