    Those tires are great but they are LOUD. I had them on my EF and it sounded like I was being followed by a small engine airplane. I just bought a set of the Federal 595 RS PROs for my GTI which are an updated version of the RSR-R with way less noise. They are super grippy. The EJ and EG chassis are my favorite old school civic I think.

      @@GarageBuiltHondas The price and performance of the RSR-R far outweighs the noise to me honestly. The grip was great for the money on my EF with Ksport Kontrol coilovers and Konig Wideopen wheels. The RS PRO are amazing on my GTI so far. I actually went to a 16" wheel and 205/45/16s and 330 w/tq, I can't spin 2nd anymore.

    • @Jasoneiland89
      @Jasoneiland89 Před 4 lety +1

      You can use a flathead with a good sharp tip and work it around. Just be extra careful not to damage any of the aluminum that holds it in place. Just do it with care and patience it’ll come out. Some of the old school guys do it a little differently, they take a screw and in the center of the seal they just run in the screw a little bit until it bites the seal pretty good then just get a clip removal tool or a pair of pliers and yank on the screw it’ll come out.

    • @Jasoneiland89
      @Jasoneiland89 Před 4 lety +1

      To put the now one in just place it as straight as possible and tap it into place using preferably a seal installer tool but you can do it with something like a dead blow rubber mallet or a piece of wood and tap it with a hammer. You want the seal flush around all sides and not crooked

    • @Jasoneiland89
      @Jasoneiland89 Před 4 lety

      Could use a pick or something that’s hooked and slim as well to get behind the seal from the inner sealing area that seals the crankshaft ... put in the pick..turn it...and pull. Boom seal comes out.

    • @Gewgoal
      @Gewgoal Před 4 lety +2

      Zeisan Shima I would advise against this method as you could gouge the metal surface if your not careful and cause leaks in the future.
      One tip I have seen is drilling a screw in the middle of the seal and pull on the screw. I was just wondering if garage built Honda’s had a better method.
      Thanks for the reply 👍

    @TrollinAreYou Před 4 lety +2

    Love the Z1's! I have a bit of a weird obsession with them haha, if you guys run into any drive-ability issues message me. The Z1's are really particular about what you do to them as the vtec-e is a 3 stage fuel economy vtec. Before vtec-e engages at around 2400-3200rpm depending on throttle, it is running in a 3-valve per cylinder operation. Once vtec-e activates it is in 4-valve normal operation. They're really fascinating yet simple in terms of how Honda designed them to operate in lean-burn. California models use a 4-wire o2 without lean-burn, the rest use a 5-wire o2 which is essential for the lean burn operation, it's quite interesting what Honda tried in the 90's.

    • @GarageBuiltHondas
      @GarageBuiltHondas  Před 4 lety +1

      How do you think it would react with the supercharger installed?

    • @TrollinAreYou
      @TrollinAreYou Před 4 lety +2

      @@GarageBuiltHondas I feel that would boil down to which ECU you decide to run the engine with mainly. With the original p07 ECU you'll be running really lean up until v-tec engagement and will have a 6200rpm rev-limiter. I believe the Z1 would most likely benefit being ran off of a chipped p28 or similar ECU since that would change the fueling and rev-limiter, but you might need to change fuel injectors at minimum as the OEM Z1 injectors are 180cc compared to most of the D series models being 240cc. The Z1 should be okay with an increased rev-limiter as it uses d16 137mm length rods on a d15 sized crank journal, so you have a higher rod-to-stroke ratio than most other d-series for less friction during operation. Might have to re-grind or swap the cam for more performance in the higher revs, but not too sure as to which. The Z1 is one of the only D's that has a roller-rocker valve train as well for quieter operation. Compression is 9.3 to 1 where the Z6 is a 9.2 to 1. The Z1 is essentially the 1.5 liter model of the D16Z6 as they share many of the same parts. The Z6 uses a 104 tooth timing belt and the Z1 uses a 103 tooth belt but the same tensioner, and both use a TD-42u distributor. Also keep in mind you might need to port match most manifolds that aren't the OEM Z1 intake manifold to the head as the Z1 has the smallest intake ports of any d15.

      @GarageBuiltHondas  Před 4 lety +1

      You really are the expert! Lol
      Love the info, thank you greatly. His charger came with upgraded injectors and a chipped p06 that the previous owner was using but I don't know if he knows what engine the charger was on as he bought it online off Facebook. The car has a p28 installed so he has that option too. I guess we'll try the chipped ECU after we get it installed. It'll be interesting to see. I don't have any experience with superchargers yet so it'll be fun to learn some things along the way. I'll definitely keep you in mind if I have some tech questions. Thanks again Devin!!

    • @TrollinAreYou
      @TrollinAreYou Před 4 lety +2

      @@GarageBuiltHondas Not a problem! It's more of a hobby of mine haha. Can't wait to see how it goes for you guys! The p28 seems like a better option to start with since it is a vtec ecu as well. I don't have much experience with superchargers but I am excited to see your results!

    We could use you here in H-Town? I have a daily driver, well it used to be my daily driver. It's a 2004 Accord V6 with 231K miles on it. Loved my car! No major problems until now - transmission issues. This generation of Hondas has had loads of transmission issues. I got more miles out of my Accord than most have. Suddenly one day it's driving fine then without warning all hell breaks loose. Well, I can't honestly say it was without warning because I had noticed a definite jerk, usually after turning a corner. I had a friend that had changed a bad motor mount for me so I attributed it to a bolt that may have come loose. It was my only mode of transportation and I had no other option to get to a new job so I put it off. On my way home from work one day after leaving the parking garage and half way home, it suddenly wouldn't pick up speed after taking off from a red light. It wouldn't go beyond 20 mph any attempt to increase the speed was pointless the engine would only rev up. Then all of a sudden it changes gears and it was fine. I haven't had it diagnosed as being the transmission, but it doesn't take a rocket scientist. I'm guessing that installing or rebuilding a transmission may cost more than what the car is worth. It's taking a much needed rest. What would you do Honda lovers? I'm open to suggestions!

Please if you can answer this question in your upcoming 50k video, I would love to hear what you think in detail from there so I can really see your emotions. I see you've so many EF's which most KANJO drivers heavily use :) Stay safe brotha

      @@GarageBuiltHondas I don't know anything about cars so I'm learning from CZcams I guess, radiator reservoir blew up sent steam everywhere today I'm hoping it's just thermostat cause I'm gonna change tomorrow morning

    • @GarageBuiltHondas
      @GarageBuiltHondas  Před 4 lety

      The best learning is experience. If you're willing to learn, you will. You may have a bad head gasket if the coolant reservoir is filling up and bubbling.

    • @FaderSkate
      @FaderSkate Před 4 lety

      @@GarageBuiltHondas changed thermostat and it's still spraying steam from the reservoir hose coming from radiator. Guess it is a damaged head smh.

    • @GarageBuiltHondas
      @GarageBuiltHondas  Před 4 lety

      Not necessarily a bad head,but the head gasket may need replacing. The coolant is mixing with the oil and the heat is causing the coolant to bubble over and push out through the coolant reservoir.

    Where did you start researching and learning information about these cars to become so knowledgeable?
