Dankjewel Floor, deze tribute raakt me persoonlijk. Margriet Eshuijs was heel dichtbij. Helaas al op 29 dec 2022 overleden. We bezochten gelijkertijd het Zaanlands Lyceum en later opende Lucifer een kantoortje recht tegenover mijn ouderlijk huis. We scheelden maar een paar maanden in leeftijd. House for Sale is een geweldig nummer.
Zo mooi.. was 17 en deed mee aan de Antikernwapendemonstratie van 21 november 1981 .. Daar [ Margriet Eshuijs .. rest in peace ] song ze het live ... Thanks Floor .. Greetings from Amsterdam ✌

What a nice cover of Margriet Eshuis of the band Lucifer. I think Floor sang this in her After Forever time around 2005. So not a new song but an 'oldie'. In those days Floor also sang 'Bad Romance', my favourite.
Hoi Martin, fijn dat je antwoord hebt gegeven. Ik dacht al dat je niet door had dat het om After Forever ging. Eerlijkheidshalve gezegd vind ik het ook een mindere versie. Wat leuk dat je After Forever nog hebt zien spelen. Die heb ik destijds gemist en probeer nu mijn schade in te halen ( afgelopen maanden twee keer naar Nightwish en een keer naar Epica). Groet Piet

I read it’s an old recording, yet the fact it pops up now must be as a tribute to Margriet Eshuis who recently passed away just before Christmas. Margriet too was an excellent vocalist, with a completely different sound.

A nice tribute to the late Margriet Eshuijs. But the original is still the best IMHO. My memories of Eshuijs' 'House for Sale' go back to my childhood. At the time, the youth community center in our small village, had sufficient budget to book great bands and dito artists. And thus Margriet Eshuijs was also booked at the time; of course including her professional band. At that time I never had anything with Eshuijs' music - my mother outright disliked it - but that particular concert was a real 'turning point' for me... Eshuijs and her band produced 'a wall of sound' at the time, with bass sounds that you felt to your bones. And at 'House for Sale' the combination music and voice of Eshuijs cut right through everything. What an experience it was! Eshuijs was a professional woman and 'House for Sale' will stay a classic gem...

It has the same gypsy flair and similar, melodically, to Cher's song called "Dark Lady". The gypsy story telling theme I guess is what it is.
