  • 2024 SUZUKI DR-Z650 SM V-TWIN ENGINE LAUNCH SOON!!
    If Suzuki makes another supermoto, will it be a parallel twin, v-twin, or single cylinder? The DR-Z400 SM is still available in some countries but has remained virtually unchanged for about a million years. A refresh is due, don't you think?
    Suzuki is promoting its 2024 model via press release this week, and it looks like conditions will be different for next year, including for the paint. It's no surprise-these bikes performed quite well in their respective racing series and on showroom floors.

    Dear Suzuki,
    Please make a liquid cooled 650 SM. Give it 6 gears, tach and fuel injection. Keep all the other electronics off of it. It is time to make something that can compete HP wise with the KTM 690, Husky 701 and the Ducati "698." Keep the overall weight down, price down, get the RPM up and get the HP up to 75ish.
    Signed- Future Buyer
    p.s. Don't change the DRZ400SM, just add the 650SM to your lineup.

      I agree! I love the DR-SM, but the Husky 701 is sweet.

    A V-Twin version would be nice. Just use the SV650 engine. I’m a big fan of V-Twin engines. But keep the current models and add fuel injection.

    If it's not broken, don't fix it.
    Suppose that's why they have been selling them for the last 20+ years.

    If I could talk to Suzuki directly, I would tell them to keep the DR line bikes just as they are. They make great entry level bikes at their price points and they each have a cult following. I also think they should keep the 650 V-Twin bikes as well but introducing Super Moto and Enduro versions would be awesome as that line of bikes are a good entry progrssion line if bikes. The new 800cc line of bikes is also awesome. I think Suzuki could be on their way to recovery. I would kick around the idea of an inline 3 to replace the GSX-R 750cc line of bikes. Maybe add a GT version. The inline 4 1000cc bikes are also great. They aren't the most powerful but are reliable and more affordable. And they look great. Maybe introduce premium and custom paint jobs. I don't think they need a Hayabusa but those kind of niche products can pull customers into show rooms.

    If they actually make a DR-Z650, I'd prefer it as a dual sport but, if a super moto is my only choice I'll still buy it. As long as it's the same v-twin as the yellow bike in this video. I fear this is just a shameless tease designed to get our hopes up & then dash them on the rocks.

    • @neilstuarr2278

      Keep the dual sport make it like the xr650r, but updated from that as well

    Well, it would be nice if Suzuki would give it's MX bike, the RM450 (and 250) some love... it hasn't changed since 2018. 😪

    • @TheSteveSteele
      @TheSteveSteele Před 7 měsíci +1

      Keep the price down on a really good bike, or add electric start and other modern features and raise the price. That’s the dilemma.

    • @jedielder7970
      @jedielder7970 Před 7 měsíci +1

      @@TheSteveSteele I understand that, but if something doesn't evolve with the rest of it's kind, it will get left behind. Suzuki would be removing some things to add others. I think it's worth it for them to add an electric start and a few other things... especially if Roczen continue to keep the bike relevant, but that will only go so far, if the other bikes keep improving. I don't know of any of my friends or family that have bought an RM over the other brands. Also, in the real world... let's say the vet weekend warrior, they don't relish having to kick start their race bike, especially when it's hot. Or, let's say they have a bad right knee or hip?

    • @TheSteveSteele
      @TheSteveSteele Před 7 měsíci +1

      @@jedielder7970 I don't disagree with you. I'm partial towards Suzuki. I've always ridden RMs and GSXs. I would like to see improvements. I'd love fuel injection on the DR SM. I currently ride a SV1000s and I still love it. If I were to buy a MX bike today, I'd either buy a Husky/Gas Gas or Suzuki (or possibly a Honda CRF), even with the RM's limitations. I'm older too and having to kick start all the time is not something I look forward to. But the price is right and I enjoy working on RMs.

      @@TheSteveSteele I understand brand loyalty. My brother and I always raced Honda CR mx'ers. On year, Suzuki started giving out extra money and my brother switched... I was pissed at him, but in the end it was good for him. Nowadays, they are behind. Their street bikes are fine. The DR's are awesome, but yeah, they could be even more awesome with a few updates, like fuel injection. Oh, my brother has a DR 650 and he loves it... but like I said, when it came time for racing in the vet class, currently, he chose a Gasgas.

    ANOTHER EVEN HEAVIER DRZ650 ENGINE IS A MAJORLY STUPID MOVE. THE SINGLE CYLINDER VERSION HAS POTENTIAL BUT MAKING IT HEAVIER AND MORE COMPLICATED DOESN'T MAKE SENSE! REFINE WHAT YOU HAVE FIRST AND THEN IMPROVE IT! I WOULDN'T RIDE ONE IF YOU GAVE IT TO ME!.....

      These may be CGI "Teasers" but if they are actual bikes we will get in 2024, the yellow DR-Z 650 is a V-Twin. If Suzuki actually makes it, it's clearly an entirely NEW bike & not the same old DR-650 you are talking about.
