This movie caught my attention when I first saw the trailer, and then they exposed the plot. They should have made it about a daughter father night gone wrong. The dad is a concerned father trying to get his daughter out of the concert because he was just informed there's a mass murder inside, and the police are blocking the place up preparing for a raid. In the end the daughter and father escape the hectic concert but in a plot twist the father was the mass murder all along.
that also sounds cool but i dont think to movie hinges on a profound twist that HE was the killer all along. i think the soul of it is just following a serial killer around in an environment where it’s increasingly more and more dangerous and seeing what he does. not that it was perfect but i still had a great time in the theater

But I also think that it’s cool that they reveal he’s the killer through his actions rather than words. I’ve never really seen any movies do that so I thought that was really cool. idk my suspense of disbelief just made me think he was caught off guard and was reacting off the cuff the entire time. he even says when he gets to the house and the family escapes easily that he never crossed the two worlds, so when he’s with his daughter he’s off his game, that’s why all he can think about is not outing himself to his daughter at the show while desperately trying to escape

My dad had a great comment about Shyamalans filmography. "He doesn't make great movies or bad movies, he just makes movies." And that's a real shame because he obviously has talent. He made a horror movie twenty five years ago that is still hailed as a masterpiece. He just can't capture that same lightning in a bottle.
a better twist would have been that the one employee that gave him the password was actually the profiler the whole time.... or that every person he talked to actually knew who he was and lead him to where he ended up.

I watched this in the theater on a date, we kept looking at each other like “yo, is anything surprising gonna happen or is this it?” So many missed opportunities to have scare moments, better plot twists, better story arcs - almost the whole movie is just close-ups of the guy’s face while he talks to people. Thought it was 2 and a half hours long, walked out and we realized it was only an hour 45. Felt like forever.
They had to reduce the music focused stuff(movie went too long because of it), add him doing kills and erase the live stream part - it would have been a better movie. Josh acted really good in it honestly, I want to see more movies of him being a psychopath.

Ive just got done watching the film and theres some things id like to point out: (SPOLIERS OF COURSE) During the pie scene, he does wait for his wife to eat it first before he does so he is indeed suspicious that it is poisoned but somehow he gets poisoned and his wife doesn't idk movie logic. The guy is indeed not a mastermind, it is really implied that he is but in reality he's just really charismatic. A lot of the time he just pretends to be an employee at the stadium and just goes along and lies to whoevers about and he utilizes this to gain intel on the situation but it is very basic. The things he does at the stadium is just very basic, anyone with 2 brain cells, greatly optimal social skills and having the ability to convincingly lie with a poker face could do. I feel like the movie is trying to pull a Nobody (2021) with having this whole sort of character and everything about him is ambiguous and once you get to know him he's some sort of genius, but they pull off so badly and forced. Honestly good concept, not so great execution. I was really excited for the movie but damn my expectations were way too high.

I personally really enjoyed it. The idea that this killer was inevitably going to be caught was looming throughout the whole film. He was outsmarted, we were past the point of cleverly outwitting the FBI, he was cornered. Everything he tried, they had a plan for. I really enjoyed seeing that from the angle of the killer. It wasn't a particularly smart film, but it gave us a brilliant performance from Josh Hartnett. I also didn't really feel the same way about the concert scenes. Every moment that was shown of the concert was there to show Cooper looking for a way out. Each moment he was getting closer and closer to losing his cool. You mention the part where he knocks the girl down the steps, yeah, he went down the steps to see an exit and didn't find one. The whole point of that sequence was to show the lengths he would go for something as menial as just having a little look-see-loo. Personally, I loved it. I think you're being overly critical of it, but maybe that's your thing.
I went and saw it yesterday, and I was bored to tears. Most of the acting was awful, and the plot was incredibly predictable. I went in thinking it would be mostly and ad for his daughter, but it was just the same thing over and over, with no substance.

After watching the movie, I think it would have been really cool if the movie set itself up as a Die-Hard clone where the main character is some kind of former cop or fed that finds out about the plot to trap the serial killer at the concert. And the movie is spent following him trying to find the serial killer on his own. His motivation could be that he knows how incompetent the police force is and so he takes matter into his own hands to keep his daughter safe. And in the end it's revealed that he is the serial killer and the whole time he's been trying to sabotage the police while trying to find a way out or something. I feel like the movie had a cool premise and it started relatively strong but it fell apart when it left the venue and thereby the whole concept.
Love Hartnett as an actor. He’s a legit Bro, I’ve seen TMZ/private cell phone vids of him at dive bars in the Louisiana bayou or at a beach front bar w/ sand for flooring in the Carolinas to high end Beverly Hills/LA restaurants for brunch because that’s what his daughter likes. I loved 30 days of night (even though plenty of ppl didn’t I get that, but I still liked it). Pearl Harbor…absolutely and undeniably an instant classic, Hartnett made that film great along with Affleck. He owns a 2,900 beautiful two story “cottage” on the water on Key Largo, he loves the Florida keys and spends a lot of time in Key West and Islamorada as well

A good twist would've been if at the end of the movie you realize that he isn't really the butcher but the daughter is and the whole time he was trying to ''save her'' from the authorities. At the end he gets caught, and it fades with the audience seeing the daughter having a creepy smile getting away with it cause she knows her father won't tell the authorities.
The twist should be Josh Hartnett character is a husband of one of the butcher's victims who seeks revenge before the authority catch him. Finding the escape door is finding the butcher.
I’m not saying this movie was great but I do think Charlie is oversimplifying a lot of the scenes here. Like when he ate the poisoned pie it was out of respect for his daughter because the pie was made to celebrate her. He also watched his wife dish out and eat the pie first before eating it himself. I don’t think the movie will win any awards but I do think it was a good movie in general regardless of the blatant advertising towards Shyamalan’s daughter’s music.
I've just seen this movie and nothing prepares you for this. I cheered, I shouted, I fist pumped the air, I cried, I stood and cheered. It's absolutely everything you hoped it was going to be. I'm so proud of the cast in it and I can't wait for you all to see it.
Charlie missed the part where the killer is handcuffed in front of 20 police officers, then he takes a bike peg right infront of them and uses it to pick his handcuffs and none of the officers say anything.
His daughters role was so unnecessary he forcibly wrote her into his own story doing anything to make it work but her character ark/plot makes no sense really besides it being her concert

I wanted to like this movie, and I too loved the concept... But this movie was trash. It was so bad it was funny. My buddy farted after the awkward hug near the end, at a perfect moment of silence and those ass cheeks reverberating together brought out more emotion from the people in the theater with us than anything in the actual movie.

I gave it an 80% myself. It was pretty good, but...I just wanted MORE. It felt a bit too...tame? Like...there were actually no kills in the movie. And, yes, the second half does kinda feel...a bit bad. Since it's just the killer running away in creative ways at that point, and...some deep monologue moments. So...I did like it and I feel it deserves an 80% from me, but the second half does bring it down from a 90% (since nothing gets 100%, since nothing is perfect).

I watched this in the theater on a date, we kept looking at each other like “yo, is anything surprising gonna happen or is this it?” So many missed opportunities to have scare moments, better plot twists, better story arcs - almost the whole movie is just close-ups of the guy’s face while he talks to people. Thought it was 2 and a half hours long, walked out and we realized it was only an hour 45. Felt like forever.
They had to reduce the music focused stuff(movie went too long because of it), add him doing kills and erase the live stream part - it would have been a better movie. Josh acted really good in it honestly, I want to see more movies of him being a psychopath.

Ive just got done watching the film and theres some things id like to point out:

During the pie scene, he does wait for his wife to eat it first before he does so he is indeed suspicious that it is poisoned but somehow he gets poisoned and his wife doesn't idk movie logic.
The guy is indeed not a mastermind, it is really implied that he is but in reality he's just really charismatic. A lot of the time he just pretends to be an employee at the stadium and just goes along and lies to whoevers about and he utilizes this to gain intel on the situation but it is very basic. The things he does at the stadium is just very basic, anyone with 2 brain cells, greatly optimal social skills and having the ability to convincingly lie with a poker face could do.
I feel like the movie is trying to pull a Nobody (2021) with having this whole sort of character and everything about him is ambiguous and once you get to know him he's some sort of genius, but they pull off so badly and forced.
Honestly good concept, not so great execution. I was really excited for the movie but damn my expectations were way too high.

I personally really enjoyed it. The idea that this killer was inevitably going to be caught was looming throughout the whole film. He was outsmarted, we were past the point of cleverly outwitting the FBI, he was cornered. Everything he tried, they had a plan for. I really enjoyed seeing that from the angle of the killer. It wasn't a particularly smart film, but it gave us a brilliant performance from Josh Hartnett. I also didn't really feel the same way about the concert scenes. Every moment that was shown of the concert was there to show Cooper looking for a way out. Each moment he was getting closer and closer to losing his cool. You mention the part where he knocks the girl down the steps, yeah, he went down the steps to see an exit and didn't find one. The whole point of that sequence was to show the lengths he would go for something as menial as just having a little look-see-loo.
Personally, I loved it. I think you're being overly critical of it, but maybe that's your thing.

I went and saw it yesterday, and I was bored to tears. Most of the acting was awful, and the plot was incredibly predictable. I went in thinking it would be mostly and ad for his daughter, but it was just the same thing over and over, with no substance.

After watching the movie, I think it would have been really cool if the movie set itself up as a Die-Hard clone where the main character is some kind of former cop or fed that finds out about the plot to trap the serial killer at the concert. And the movie is spent following him trying to find the serial killer on his own. His motivation could be that he knows how incompetent the police force is and so he takes matter into his own hands to keep his daughter safe. And in the end it's revealed that he is the serial killer and the whole time he's been trying to sabotage the police while trying to find a way out or something.
I feel like the movie had a cool premise and it started relatively strong but it fell apart when it left the venue and thereby the whole concept.

I loved 30 days of night (even though plenty of ppl didn’t I get that, but I still liked it). Pearl Harbor…absolutely and undeniably an instant classic, Hartnett made that film great along with Affleck. He owns a 2,900 beautiful two story “cottage” on the water on Key Largo, he loves the Florida keys and spends a lot of time in Key West and Islamorada as well

A good twist would've been if at the end of the movie you realize that he isn't really the butcher but the daughter is and the whole time he was trying to ''save her'' from the authorities. At the end he gets caught, and it fades with the audience seeing the daughter having a creepy smile getting away with it cause she knows her father won't tell the authorities.
The twist should be Josh Hartnett character is a husband of one of the butcher's victims who seeks revenge before the authority catch him. Finding the escape door is finding the butcher.

I’m not saying this movie was great but I do think Charlie is oversimplifying a lot of the scenes here. Like when he ate the poisoned pie it was out of respect for his daughter because the pie was made to celebrate her. He also watched his wife dish out and eat the pie first before eating it himself. I don’t think the movie will win any awards but I do think it was a good movie in general regardless of the blatant advertising towards Shyamalan’s daughter’s music.
I've just seen this movie and nothing prepares you for this. I cheered, I shouted, I fist pumped the air, I cried, I stood and cheered. It's absolutely everything you hoped it was going to be. I'm so proud of the cast in it and I can't wait for you all to see it.

It's not bad? Did we watch the same movie? My brother in Christ, it felt like I was watching a 14 y.o. girls fanfiction, full of "this is how x works" and braindead twists. I wanted to like this movie, and I too loved the concept... But this movie was trash. It was so bad it was funny. My buddy farted after the awkward hug near the end, at a perfect moment of silence and those ass cheeks reverberating together brought out more emotion from the people in the theater with us than anything in the actual movie.

I gave it an 80% myself. It was pretty good, but...I just wanted MORE. It felt a bit too...tame? Like...there were actually no kills in the movie. And, yes, the second half does kinda feel...a bit bad. Since it's just the killer running away in creative ways at that point, and...some deep monologue moments. So...I did like it and I feel it deserves an 80% from me, but the second half does bring it down from a 90% (since nothing gets 100%, since nothing is perfect).
