  • The Post Office has been stripped of its status as a specialist reporting agency to Scotland's prosecutors due to the Horizon scandal, MSPs have been told.
Lord Advocate Dorothy Bain KC, who leads the Crown Office, said the Post Office would instead have to report allegations of crimes to the police.Appearing at the Scottish Parliament on Thursday, Ms Bain also sought to defend the Crown from suggestions it should have been more suspicious of the flawed evidence from the Horizon system.
She has previously told MSPs that 54 people are thought to have been affected by the scandal north of the border.Earlier this week, the Scottish Government brought forward emergency legislation to clear the name of Scottish subpostmasters who were wrongly convicted.
As well as being the head of the Crown Office, the Lord Advocate is also the Scottish Government's principal legal adviser.
Ms Bain provided a further update to MSPs on progress on the Horizon cases on Thursday, after opposition parties had called for her to give another statement to Parliament.

True, pressurised by false evidence. This being the Horizon system was infallible.

Of course she won't given her affiliations with the corruption SNP

Being a very senior solicitor her evidence was very shaky and she looked drawn and worried for someone in her position as lord advocate , she knows that she and the crown office is exposed to public scrutiny and that she may yet be held to account, criminally or civilly. Even when receiving professional police evidence if a prosecutor is not fully happy with the evidence supplied or sees any any weakness in the case then they commonly question the reporting police officer to explain elements of that evidence until they are fully happy to continue with any prosecution. she should have done so with the post offices evidence instead of just accepting there evidence on face value. she is now trying to divert her failings and incompetence by alleging that others are responsible for hoodwinking her this is what happens with political appointments, retired scottish police officer
