This is where you separate the world-class singers from the good ones. She's one of the best storytellers globally.
It's really impressive how she maintained that steadiness throughout the song. She went up, low, belted some portions, whispered some lines, but all within the appropriate range. One would expect that singing bare, that she'd go to town dazzling the listener with vocal gymnastics. But no, throughout the song, her focus was on the narrative and expressing her feelings.
How many singers would sing a song as popular as this is with no instruments at all the Queen 👑 did it

She has the most BELIEVEABLE emotional delivery that I have ever heard. I cannot imagine how this women is not the talk of music circles around the world. Are you kidding me? This is SOOOOO intense it literally takes something out of you to listen to it. The SUFFERING!!!!!!! My goodness. Incredible voice and if I may say it turned this song into a completely different thing. It was an entirely different interpretation of a song that appears to be in transcendent. How about the flat out self confidence to reinterpret a current RECORD SETTING song A CAPPELLA! When you are Morissette there is no such thing as a bridge to far. #BESTOFTHEBEST.

Great breakdown Nina! From what I understand is, Mori sings all the time around the house, and it was fiancee Dave who suggested to Mori to do an acapella cover for this song. We know vocaly, Morissette can showcase great technical ability and sing with tons of emotion. Can't believe that I'm literally the first person to like the reaction. Mind you, the reaction was only up 48 minutes ago lol.
A great artist who fearlessly covers a big song using only her vocals which can be scary bec. it means exposing yourself to scrutiny. but this artist is confident her vocals can stand on its own. much respect and love for her. thanks for the great reaction Nina. 💗👍👏

Nina exposes what the singers possess. Like Nina said Morissette exposed herself with nothing to hide behind-no music or other noice to coverup imperfections. Morissette shinned through with her beautiful voice, story telling ability, emphathy & passion! Morissette has the whole package and has no need of outside noice to hide imperfections-she has none. When I listened to this song, the very first time (even before I listened to the original) I was mezmerized, to say the least. When she got to the part of the "singy songy" bit, "Red lights, stop signs, I still see your face......" for a reason I can't explain, it reminded me of children at play on the sidewalk...singing and taunting each other. It's a haunting song and she sang it with every bit of emotion a girl would have whose heart is broken!! Thank you for your reaction. As always, great!!!

Hey Nina... Excellent, honest reaction & discussion of what Morissette is doing in her interpretation. The acopela makes it more unique than if she had a, backing track & more distinct from Olivia's delivery of her song. Some great singers cover, but the stand out peak singers re-interpret which makes it fun for the original singer how others can give the song another showcase of their song & lyrics. Great job. Take a look at Matt & Savanna Shaw, their harmonies are beautifully indeed. Think Irish Paul Harrington who does covers on commercial Newstalk Fm 9-12noon with host Pat Kenny. How about he covers Not Perfect Now? 🤔😁 But you could cover one of Matt & Savanna Shaw with Paul in a zoom duet? Means you would get a mention!! Also pop rte 2fm yer album phone in too to sing any of their shows, also Iradio wide area? Paul is on messenger. Ok it is so so rare for a vocal/song to give me that "I'm going to cry" feeling, but when she got to the chorus, with the push, grit, cry, the pain, eyes, and emotion..I was right there. And the setting, the city behind her, her outfit, minimal or no makeup. They all just play into it.
Why not "bare your soul" when your soul is as close to perfect as humanly possible..., that is Morissette.

that's what i felt like. first time i heard her sing this, i felt it was complete, like there was an accompaniment. only when i rewatched it from a vocal coach's reaction that i realized it was an acapella. but in my head i was really hearing some music. take note that i haven't heard of this song til morissette's cover.
